iOS 18 - New Apple CarPlay Features - iOS 18 introduces many new features and changes, but there are some new updates specific to Apple CarPlay. The new Apple CarPlay features should work on iOS 18 supported devices and will automatically show on your vehicle equipped with Apple CarPlay. I feel like Apple have abandoned work on CarPlay. These are not new features that users are asking for. It’s about time CarPlay became customisable. I’m bored with its look. They have concentrated on the developer side and done nothing for the end user

My biggest wish list item is an outside temperature readout under the time. Some cars like mine lose the outside temp displayed on the screen when CarPlay is enabled.

Thanks Aaron for demonstrating accessibility feature Voice Control in CarPlay. I use the Voice Control feature on all my Apple devices. Now I need to upgrade my 2015 Toyota Sienna head unit so I can run CarPlay and control it with Voice Control.

I’ve noticed a bug with T-Mobile and CarPlay where the 5G stand-alone voice doesn’t seem to be working. As soon as I disconnect from CarPlay or use my AirPods, the clarity of the voice call immediately improves. Not sure if this is the case with wireless CarPlay or not but this is currently seeming to be the issue with wired CarPlay.

Is any in here using a Dash Cam (I have Nexar) with their iOS 18? I’m curious if you plug up your iPhone do you still get all of the iOS 18 features for the CarPlay. There was mention that you have to connect your CarPlay wirelessly to get all of the new CarPlay features. Just curious before I start shopping for a new Dash Cam. I plug up the iPhone so I can use WiFi for my Dash Cam. If connect to CarPlay wirelessly, then my Dash Cam doesn’t work.

I smaller known feature that changed completely with IOS 17.5 was Siri Eyes Free. Before the update Siri would read me back the message I spoke to her before sending it. Now it just sends it regardless so can’t mess up the message or you’re screwed. Can’t say I like the new one it works. My car is a 2017 Toyota Corolla So I hope they keep this around even tho they are moving more towards car play

I want to be able to create routes in maps. Be able to manage those in every way possible like saving them, sharing them, doing things like meeting up with someone else as part of the route… Also, I would like maps or something AI to tell me, for instance if my favorite food and beverage location while I’m driving is within a mile or 5 miles of my current location. Other examples would be if there are any particular events within 10 or 20 miles of things that I would like; for instance, the cars and coffee whether it’s now soon or tomorrow. These are all things that would be great. Also, car-to-car communication would be something that would be great. You know the walkie-talkie mode. Something like that in CarPlay. I can even think of safety things like broadcast and SOS or kind of like a fall detection if or even let’s say Apple Watch detect in a fib condition. Be able to broadcast that to the cars within 100 yards of you. Or reach out to emergency services.

Have you seen the problem with your phone was connected to the car sync system and then as you’re talking you disconnect, but the phone does not disconnect. It goes back to the speakers on the phone.

Have you checked your usb cable? Maybe it’s bent somewhere and a wire is getting cracked. Buy a new one at big lots or Ollie’s for $3-$4 bucks see if that is it.

Hi Aaron, is that really so, that Siri is bilingual in newest Carplay? Why isn't that available on iPhone as well? I've been waiting that feature since day one. Siri is quite handy taking commands in English, but its Finnish is absolutely terrible. It can read messages quite fluently and that's why it would be great if it would support two languages at the same time. Thanks for a great video, keep up the good work!

@@KalervoKummallinen its based on the laguages you have set. just add them in the language and region settings and it should work.

I even tried to switch English as device main language - still Siri shows only one Language option at a time. If I change it, it chooses the other Ibut drops the other away. Am I missing something here?

Wish I could just get mine to work as it is. 2 different iPhone 15 pros on the latest software, 2 different 2024 vehicles. One day CarPlay just quit reading texts when they came in. Reset and restore both phones, multiple calls to Apple, they gave up. Said it must be the car. Two completely different models with 2 completely different infotainment systems, not buying that…
