The biggest slap in the face is them charging $60 for it as though its akin to a top of the line premium case, when it simply is not. What premium case collects dust and scratches like its going out of style.

it's useful, because you're stopping people from wasting their money on cheap junk. for an $60-80$ case I would would expect quality.. third-party shops have better quality cases for less than half the price. and even on Amazon. So it's good that you do these kinds of videos

Nomad makes an outstanding line of leather cases. There is a patina that emerges after some time so it becomes even better looking. I have had several and they by far outperform the Apple leather cases. There are two different types of leather one which is $50 and the other is $70.

Did you watch to the end? Aside from surface scratches, this is really quite durable. I'd like to see this teardown done with a leather case. I bet this is actually just as durable as leather. If you don't like the texture, I totally get that, but that's a different issue than durability.

@@davidjacobs6244 no it isn't. I've had 2 leather cases from Apple now and they showed some signs of wear, but DEFINITELY no scratches. And that wear only started to show months into using them, not minutes.

If this case was $25 or $30 I think I’d pick it up in a heartbeat. Sure, it won’t hold up as well as some other cases, but I love the look and it looks quite comfortable to hold as well. 😍 But…this is definitely *not* worth the $50-$60 price tag that Apple charges for it. 😬

Thanks for testing this. I don’t think I would want this case if it will show marks on the back over time. With the current materials that iPhone is using the glass in particular do you think a case is necessary? Of course a case adds protection but if you are paying for a device protection plan and with the added durability of the phone it might not be that necessary. I use a case now but I was thinking of not getting one if I buy the new phone.

Their frames are their weakest link as even the leather one I have is now loosening slightly and I’ve even had some Silicon ones crack and those are on the 13 pro with captured bottoms so I’m glad to see maybe they’ve added a little bit of structural strength by way of the fabric. I don’t know if future testing like this is necessary, but for these cases, it’s certainly appreciated. 💯 10:28

Yes! I like having the ability to use my iPhone as a bedside table clock. I will definitely use this feature. It’s one of my favorites at the time! I think Apple should have made available whether it has power or not. Why have it charging if the phone is either fully or sufficiently charged?

Thanks for suffering through the entire teardown. I'm glad I watched to the end. I think the negativity about this material is largely overblown. Leather cases would scratch just as much, and the material itself is likely just a strong as leather. Those complaining about using recycled materials don't understand material engineering. The two legitimate issues I see are texture (which is a matter of preference) and cost (which is typical for Apple accessories). I think I'll use my 15 Pro naked for a while before I decide if I need a case, and I'll need to find one of these in a store or in the wild to feel the texture before I decide if this is the way to go for me. Thanks for the test, cleared up a lot of questions. With it being a case, I feel it’s a fail on Apple’s part, especially when it’s supposed to replace the leather. At $60 a pop, there are too many better alternatives out there. I personally love the Apple clear MagSafe case, on my 14 Pro it hasn’t yellowed at all over the past year, and shows off the phones color. Cheers!

Thank you for this video. My main concerns are dropping the phone and my wife placing in her purse. The silicone cases and glass screen protectors have worked well over the years for both. Yes, we have had to replace the glass screen protectors more than once however, they worked perfectly. Never had a cracked or scratched screen.

I would never put screen protector on something that I am starting at 4h a day (on average) as it would degrade display quality no matter how good the actual protector is. An alternative solution for me (although more expensive) is to buy apple care and stop worry about cracked screen if that should ever happen.

I always look for your breakdown videos of the new tech and software to see what is new with both..but this is a real eye opener to me. I can’t wait for your iPhone 15/15 Pro models unboxing. Finewoven looks nice to the eye but when you’re spending over $1000 dollars on a phone you want a durable case and this video demonstrates the shear lie on Apples product guarantee promise in regards to testing on durability

The “white paper” is Tyvek. A waterproofing flexible strong polyethylene fiber material designed to keep out water. This is placed over the MagSafe ring with circuitry underneath to protect it from the inevitable dip in a pool shower or toilet. Now you know.

Have you tried using scotch tape to remove those marks? This works on Surfaces TypeCovers. They also seem to get scratched up easily like these new cases do. Marks that seem permanent are just hard to remove due to the texture of the material.

The fabric almost to me looking really close almost look like the same woven as my blue jeans which is very tough. But I did see someone drip water on the back of one of these new cases and it stained dark and it didn’t seem to go away

Should I upgrade from the 14 Pro to the 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max? Also, is 256GB enough? And, which color would you choose? Currently, I have the iPhone 14 Pro Space Black 256GB which has scrolling stuttering, battery life is bad, it has lags in the Camera app and some games and overheating issues. I’ve used a 12PM before which was too big and heavy to use, but now the lighter Titanium and curved edges can make it feel more comfortable.
