The iPhone 15 pro with LOG is a game changer. Haven't used my DSLR for video since I got it. Given that RE video is mostly being viewed on phones / tablets, not one agent could tell the difference. I could notice the difference however, but luckily my option doesn't matter ;) Oh, and it's sooo much easier to shoot on a phone

Shot 1: A; Shot 2: B (but only after you showed side by side - Initially, I chose A); Shot 3: A. Mike, I do hope that when you plan out your full video course that you include the iPhone. Many of us aren't at a stage yet where we can afford a high end camera like the Sony a7siii you use here. Even the Canon EOS RP (a mid-tiered camera) isn't rated well for video. Nevermind all the folks using an M50 or M50 Mark II. I hope you consider it even if you regularly use your a7iii.

Wouldn't either would be fine for real estate listings? Maybe bit off topic here but both had a lot of jitters. I've tested a lot and for some reason my 30fps always has less jitters than 24fps. Another great video ,thank you.

The image is getting close enough that the choice may depend on your business model or shoot day. If you're doing high-end properties it may be worth it to use the A7SIII. If you need to shoot a higher volume of lower-end properties you'll get through more listings with the iPhone. I have iPhone 14 Pro and Sony FX3 so I'm considering offering packages around that.

I felt the Sony was a little brighter, however I found little to no real differences. Question: I am having trouble with my DJI gimbal or maybe I am using the incorrect set up. What settings are you using regarding gimble set up (ie. tile lock, etc ?) Thanks

Can you do an outside comparison? The colors are much better with the A7 but the windows not great.

You mentioned you like shooting at 120 fps on your Sony, how do you have enough light to shoot that fast and maintain the 180 rule? I haven't used the A7 so maybe it looks amazing at ISO 1000. But even shooting at 60 fps on my Z30 I sometimes struggle with noise from having to compensate for the lack of lighting in most homes I shoot. Are you using any artificial lighting? Thanks!

The a7s3 has cleaner highlights for interior so it’s easy to spot . Additionally based on optics, I can immediately tell which is a cell phone in which is a professional camera

Great comparison video. The phone could be good for some short vertical reel style walkthroughs where the cuts are quick. Most people would never notice. However for optics I’m not going to be shooting on my iphone in front of my client lol. Part of being pro is just looking the part.

iPhones use a HDR Video format, Slog 3 pp8 in the sony a7siii has great dynamic range and is easy to white balance using the gamma display assist. Id like to see you make a video shooting in Slog 3 compared to PP1 on the sony-

I chose the IPhone for 2 out of 3. The 3rd one I chose the a7iii with the caveat that the windows looked better with the iphone. Maybe windows aren't that important for video though. When you do the side by side with one frame the differences were obvious. But when watching live they are almost identical to me. Depends what part of the image you choose to focus on I guess.

They’re so close that’s it’s highly worth just lightening the load and editing structure by using iPhone. I always get so frustrated with the gimbal and Sony-especially depending on my lens choice for the day.

Shot 1) iPhone, I thought the color of the flowers on the table stood out more with the iPhone. Shot 2) A7SIII, The glare & clarity on the coffee table was better with the A7SIII Shot 3) A7SIII, the clarity & color on the bedding stood out much better with the A7SIII At the end of the day I don't think the average person would notice the difference without putting them specifically side by side. They both looked great for what a prospective home owner would need. Have you tried to compare the 1" sensor of the Osmo Pocket 3 with your A7SIII?

Man it’s crazy that there are photographers still trying to push this thing of phones being better. I'm impressed that the phone compared dynamic range wise as well as it did, and would be curious to see results from a 15 with log, but the image is so much more than that. The camera shots were immediately noticeable: the colour got better and more accurate, the image wasn't mushy from noise reduction and the regions around blown out highlights was way better controlled. The fact is that when it comes to handling direct lighting, the tiny lenses in phones have such a crazy uphill battle to fight physics and not completely bloom those out

I have watched a few video reviews on the 15 Pro and in Log, there is much better detail than the 13.

My guess is everyone here is using the Sony. The IPhone was clearly better. The windows were totally blown out on the Sony and the IPhone was blown out but clearly not as bad.

I shoot video with iPhone 15 pro max. Its noticeable that cameta is better. Lights at the ceiling and the rest of the thinks you mentioned. But not fair, a7iiis is one of the best for video and iPhone 13 from this video should be 15. Anyway even with 15 the camera will be better and also the gimbal vertical lines aren’t straight as the ones from the camera I use a different gimbal but I never get it 100% when I check the corners going in a bedroom as yours is the same always a little bit off the camera doesn’t do it, is 100% straight. But sure if it’s because we also have a wider angle 13mm iPhone vs 16mm (usually on full frame cameras)

I feel like the video from an iPhone (especially the 15 Pro) could fall under the category of “good enough” for the average listing and for most agents. I may be selling my bigger DJI gimbal honestly. With a smaller investment and easier use, I could offer more competitive pricing on videos, perhaps doing more of them.

Iphone seems to have a little better window view experience, however, if you play attention to the ceiling lights, you can tell where the Sony pulls ahead pretty obviously in overall sharpness.

The video quality of the SonyA7sIII was a lot better. The colors look great and more even. It looked like the transition from the shadow areas and lit areas on the iPhone was much more harsh which made it obvious that it was a cell phone and didn’t look great in my opinion. I guess if you don’t care about the highest quality you can use an iPhone, but to each their own I guess. If someone were to show me a video made by an iPhone, and didn’t tell me it was it was shot on an iPhone, I wouldn’t automatically assume it was shot on a phone, but I would immediately notice that something didn’t look quite right based on the quality..

I have a 1phone 14 pro max. I placed it on my Zhyium Smooth 4. The lenses made the phone very top heavy and wouild not balance. Back to using my Sony a7lll. The iphone did a pretty good job. The colors wee off and the sharpness is lacking. Not sure if the viewer looking at a listing would care.

Sony was much better imo in each clip, better dynamic range and had much less glare on the floors and objects. Also colors were much better and there’s more detail. Most wouldn’t notice these things tho

It still blows my mind that an iPhone can do this. I remember the days we laughed at the iPhone and now it's laughing at us for investing so much into gear and editing workflows for a listing now someone can do this with an iPhone and 10 minutes on capcut. Just need apple to partner with Sony for Apple's software and Sony's hardware for 20+ stops of dynamic range.

I wish you can use the iPhone 15 pro because it's way better compared to the 13, i like the video but you need to know more about iphones, because if I use my iPhone to shoot videos I will shoot you a log for better quality not standard,

Why 120 fps? Just for bright sun? Shooting lower fps lets your sensor soak-up more light. 30 fps looks great slowed down on a 24 fps timeline too. Letting more light on the sensor makes cleaner images with better dynamic range. This is extra important in low-light parts of the house.
@InsideRealEstatePhotography
@InsideRealEstatePhotography 3 месяца назад
30fps is not nearly slow enough for me. I much prefer 120fps for the speed and a7siii handles low light like a champ.

While the iphone 14 and 15 pros are nothing to downplay, the reality of a smaller sensor is unavoidable. There's a ton of magic happening in the background of iphone video, and it has the processing power to do it. If you're simply cutting footage straight out of phone and camera, the difference is minimal. If you use 10-bit 4.2.2 footage on a7SIII, FX3, or a7IV with Slog-3 or S-cinetone, small sensor stuff stands no chance. Iphone 14/15 doing a vertical 1-take will have a quicker turnaround with acceptable product. Same thing with full frame will look better, but is it by enough to justify the extra time?
