Inroads Ireland tour designer Phil Ryan recounts Irish folk tales he learned while growing up in Ireland. Here's a quick tale of the "Selkie", an Irish fairy that takes the form of a seal. The selkie story inspired the movie, The Secret of Roan Inish.

Yes, there are male Selkies. Like the female Selkies they too are very beautiful. It's said that if women who is heartbroken or in distress cries seven tears of sorrow in to the sea a male Selkie will appear and make the heartache go away.
