@omeganukestrike Hey there, it is all the same scale. I am just starting at a different point in the scale that is all. For stuff like harmonizing leads you would write a melody using whatever scale you want. Then harmonize that melody by using the same scale you did before except that now you playing the same melody with every note moved to 3 notes up higher in the scale than the one you are trying to harmonize. Hope this helps! :)

@CrazyEiche Hey thanks for watching. It's an Eric Johnson sig. start. It's pretty expensive but I do believe Fender lowered the price on all of their top of the line production strats about $500 last year when the economy tanked. So you might want to look into getting one before they go back up!! Cheers!! Carl..

That was actually really helpful. I never though about trying to harmonize using a scale. I would always just try and move 3 frets up but sometimes that doesnt work. This way seems a little more fail safe. Now I need to learn my scales. Music theory is so cool! It's really neat to learn why things happen the way they do in music.

Well, firstly.. this was 2 years ago and I was an uneducated newbie to the genres and origins of heavy metal! :p I'll have to correct something you said though, because there's a lot of bands which sounds like Iron Maiden because they're influenced by them.Back from 2 years ago, I thought Iron Maiden was Power Metal because so many Power Metal bands sounds like them (and I'm not talking about Europower like Dragonforce!) like Dream Evil, early Firewind, Rhapsody, Blind Guardian and more

This is like a song combined with a slow adrian solo combined with a half-fast janick solo with just a thiniest a bit of sound like dave. It could sound like a song combined dance of death and fear of the dark, but you have to play on the neck mic to sound like maiden bro

hi,first of all good lesson :), but i have a question about harmonizing i did a song where i harmonize just like you do in this video, the 3 note per string section, the exact same positions, but i was thinking modal, in the C major scale i used in one part the locrian mode,and the other part the pryghian mode,can i use the approach for other harmoniez or did i use the 3rd interval approach without knowing i did xD :P , thnx

What do you use to record? Do you have a separate mic or is the sound going straight through the camera's mic?

it's normally better to use a mic to record straight from the amp into an audio interface hooked up to a computer, using some recording software like garage band. hope this helps...
