Love that Janick gets a song and some spotlight... for those anti Janick.. we wouldn't have masterpiece epics like this as well as many Maiden songs since No Prayer
I love his song writing abilities but don't like his solo's. That's not anti Janinck, only a n observation (no, not an opinion...his playing is very sloppy)
He's one of those guys that just plays every solo a little different depending on his mood, nothing wrong that. At least he's not a robot. He has fun, he's full of energy and I've stood in front of him a couple times live and in front of Dave and Adrian (and yes, those two will always be my fav's cause they've been in my life since my youth), but I have to say seems like Janicks energy really resonates with his side of the crowd
Steve wrote the lyrics, Janick wrote the guitar parts.. which is why he does most of the lead.. If you go back and listen to most of the songs that Janick wrote the guitar parts for, this is a very Janick sounding song. He uses a lot of the cleans, and then build up to the distortions and even breaks into a clean a lot during the song to give the songs more depth. He's a really good writer and he helped write a lot of the songs on each album since No Prayer
Ryan T It feels like Janick came straight from the Brave New World tour onto this one, he's in top form. He totally outshined Smith/Murray on the epics. He didn't miss a note on the solos he played along with Adrian as well, at least not on the concert I saw them in Greece.
Yes. Janick in the middle, on top of the monitor. Love it. Stealing the limelight from the others for a brief moment. If Maiden can give 100% on stage, the punters should give 100% on the floor, covered in sweat. Yes people. Sweat. It means you all had a good time.
This was an ace venue for Maiden, must be one of the smallest they played on those tours. You could go to the bar / toilet and hardly queue, then just wander back to the same spot you'd left, and even if you were right at the back it was still in your face - much more like a good night out than a big concert. Shame it's gone now.
I was expecting the crowd to go far more ham than this considering it's Scotland. Also this is probably the best vocal performance from Bruce for this song, he actually tried to sound like Blaze here too, it's cool as fuck.
+Callum. I was in the middle as well. We were singing our arses off and bouncing about. Couldn't give a fig about anyone else there. Loved every minute of it!
Bruce says "I can't fuckin hear you!!" when the drums kick in and the words are FREEDOM!!! ..... FREEDOM!!! This is because the crowd was full mainly by people who call themselves TRUE Iron Maiden fans. What this means is (and this applies to two of the numpties I attended the show with) that they only know songs up to and including the No Prayer for the Dying album and have a passionnate, pathetic hatred of anything more recent than that album .... and yes that includes Fear of the Dark! Consequently, this also means that they only know the words to about 60% of the songs being sang by their "favourite" band at their live shows.... Its fucking laughable.
