As CONCACAF prepares to host Copa America 2024, major questions and doubts linger around many of the teams. The USMNT is as inconsistent as ever under Berhalter, El Tri is a walking disaster, Jamaica's Federation is in shambles and Canada Soccer is broke. Costa Rica and Panama may also struggle. ‪@ImaxitFootball‬ ‪@JJDTV96‬ ‪@TheDeadBallTV‬ plus Eddie and I go over CONCACAF'S hopes in Copa America.

@@lennyjenkins9931 My comment doesn't go there. I say this because it would be interesting for them to be able to talk with people who do know about their own South American teams and have a real idea about it. If they always talk between people about Concacaf, it's like the Spiderman meme.

I love this Copa America format with all the teams from the continent. It is very good to play with Mexico and the USA and the rest of the best CONCACAF teams. I am in favor of CONMEBOL CONCACAF integration. If the Copa América becomes much more interesting with this integration, imagine if the Copa Libertadores were played including clubs from the USA and Mexico (The best clubs from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and the USA). With time it would be a great show to compete with the Champions League. Greetings from Buenos Aires!

All Rise the CONCACAF Council is now in session I love this panel because they're so tapped in to the football in the region. Love seeing Jack from DeadballTV as the Mexico representative I follow Jamaica and my notes are essentially the same as JD's after our last window I agree with JD about our ReggaeBoyz during the World Cup Qualifiers. We looked OK vs. Dominican Republic and we handled buisiness. However, the match vs. Dominica was very underwhelming. We nearly gave up a 3 goal lead after we just ran out of gas late in the match. Heimir Hallgrimsson's system is very physically taxing as JD pointed out, which is why we had such heavy squad rotation Shemar Nicholson was awesome in these matches bagging 3 goals. Renaldo Cephas was a revelation on the ball getting pass defenders almost at will and providing 2 assists over the 2 matches. Cephas has been ascending for awhile now and it's great to see him finally breakthrough. Utilizing Damion Lowe as a single pivot was interesting to see and he played well as a defensive midfielder. I expect more from Jamaica, so we have a lot to shore up before the Copa America.

In North America, writing new chapters of history is important. The world can't stay like it is, you can't expect us to accept it, we (Americans) want our place at the top among the best someday and will work for it. But I can't say the same for Canada because they do not have the same resources we do. So, having said that, I agree that Peru and Chile will fight hard to send one of the two into the knockouts over Canada and it will surprise no one.

Canadian fan here: just want to thank Pete for saying ''not as bad as Jamaica'' instead of ''not as bad as Canada'' when lamenting the performance of the USSF 😝 More seriously, the council is always interesting and this one really drove home how much of our problems as a confederation are at least partially self-inflicted. If the USSF got rid of the nepotism... If the Canadian federation could solve the money issues it had itself created to a large extent... If Jamaica managed to get rid of ridiculous stuff like Bailey's demands and get its stakeholders to actually work together for the benefit of its national programs... Even Mexico, isn't exempt as they'd be in a far better shape if they could get LigaMx to spend money building up its academy systems and the grassroots instead of overpaying domestic and Conmebol players... Looking at the heavy weights Panama really do feel like the only ones who are truly maximizing their resources and Costa Rica doing ok but not exceptional in that regard. Hopefully we can get our stuff in order and realize our full potential.

"Jamaica struggle to keep the ball and relieve pressure, sorely lacking a ball-retaining midfielder who can dictate the tempo and help the team to control possession. Palmer lost the ball an average of 19 times per game at Coventry in the latest campaign, while Lowe’s passing accuracy of 43 per cent against the U.S. served as a reminder that he is a centre-back in a midfield role" , The NY Times assessment.

It's not a giant he's holding back but more of a potential giant killer he's definitely holding back. And the idea that the U.S. has played better before Gregg isn't false at all you forget that before Gregg Came in the U.S. Tied against the World Cup winning France with a much lesser team? The U.S. was able to beat one of the(if not the) best National Team of all time in Spain with a much much lesser squad. And now with a much better talent pool we can't get past a T&B? @@lennyjenkins9931 so there’s a lot there. So 2022 we reached the group of 16 for the 5th time in our history We had failed to qualify twice before for the gold cup and other then 2002-07 have equaled the best ever run of form in that competition Only ever won the nations league We’ll see what happens In the copa And has finished 1, 2 and lost in the semis which is the best 3 year run of us mens soccer history other than 05-13 Of the 10 titles won since 1991… he’s been the manager for 4. 2nd furthest WC appearance ever Nearly half if all trophies won in last 30 years Owned Mexico our biggest rival domestically All with a super young - yes talented but also young team I’ve got zero issues firing him. But this insistence to degrade what he’s meant in a positive to US mens soccer blows the mind He’s not a genius nor is he that likeable in press conferences. He’s stubborn and arrogant and I wasn’t happy when they hired him back or brought him back etc. Do I want a different manager in all likelihood for 2026? Yeah probably . I don’t know he’s the right guy for the job But I also don’t believe in ignoring that he’s also been, whether people want to admit it or, a reasonable part of one of the best successful eras of US soccer bar one

@@stewartrickertwell let me ask you, when has Berhalter ever gotten us to punch above our weight and pull off an upset where we win or really play to our strengths? During the 9 months without Berhalter we beat Mexico 3-0 and Canada 2-0, and during the Canada match we looked like we didn’t belong in CONCACAF and belonged fighting somewhere higher. He is no longer needed and tbh his records are just tape over the cracks.
@stewartrickert
@stewartrickert 16 дней назад
@@benjaminaraya8073 So, I agree in part. He might no longer be needed. I think he's got us as far as he can take. And that's fine, but again, thats a different conversation than just acting like he's a complete noob whose done nothing. I think it's fair to say he's reached his ceiling and for us to go further, we need a different manager - a better one and a different voice. To me that's different than acting like he's the worst manager in the history of everything.' England in the world cup comes to mind. And you can say, well, that's once in 6 years, fair, but also, in international football in our league, you don't have that many opportunities to punch above our weight. You can say we don't always look good , which is fair but again, that at times happens with teams this young. Youth breeds inconsistency. We don't have many players who can say "I've been doing this at a high international level for 5-8 years etc. Yes, the manager can help with that but also, there's only so much that he can do. We also smashed Mexico in World Cup qualifying and he was in charge for that. So lets not act like he hasn't owned Mexico wnen he's been in charge as well. And also, Brazil. Yes, it was a friendly. And its not your typical Brazil side. But they still have some of the best players in the world and while a friendly, we looked good. If we're going to rightly rip him for Columbia, which was also a friendly, then he deserves credit for Brazil for getting it turned around. Look, if we don't make at least the quarters, then 100% he's got to go. However, if we make the quarters (or better) with a still very young roster, then IDK I think its not unreasonable he stays. That being said... I think the thing I need to see from him more than anything is FLEXIBILITY. I don't mean ditching his system cause clearly, he's not doing that. But the way he changed up somewhat from Columbia to Brazil etc - he needs to do more of that. Be more practical and pragmatic at times rather than stubborn. Quarters or better? I think he's earned the right to stay. Not qualifying for the knock outs though? Then its thanks Gregg, you've done a good job getting us to this point, but now we need someone else to take over.

@@BC-th3mxHow is that? when Dwight Yorke actually guided Manchester United to a treble being the best player and top goal scorer for Man United Hugo Sanchez is just an average player who was lucky he got to play in the most average Real Madrid in history when la liga was garbage please Yorke is a million times better than that scrub
