Is God Married? Do we have a Heavenly Mother?

Today on 3 Mormons, we talk about Heavenly Mother. We frequently refer to God being our Heavenly Father but rarely do we credit Heavenly Mother.
We believe that Heavenly Father works in unison with Heavenly Mother and that both are integral to our existence. As Mormons we believe that we can become like God so it only makes sense that there is both a male and female God.
Mimi talks about the important role of motherhood. Kwaku talks about the history of a female God and also shares a personal experience about going to Temple Square in Salt Lake City with his non-Mormon friend and learning about Heavenly Mother.

Can you guys talk about Isaiah 43:10? "...Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me." Not sure how we are supposed to become gods then? Thanks!

From FairMormon, "The context of this passage makes it clear that the issue being addressed is not one of general theology but rather a very specific and practical command to recognize YHWH as Israel's only god and the only god to be worshiped. In addition to misapplying this passage, critics also fail to recognize the growing body of evidence that shows that the Jewish religion was not strictly monotheistic until quite late in its development, certainly after the era in which Isaiah was written. When this evidence is considered, it appears that Judaism originally taught that though there are indeed other divine beings, some of whom are called gods, none of these are to be worshiped except for the God of gods who created all things and who revealed Himself to Moses."

The BIBLE is the word God, as far as it has been translated correctly! The Book of Mormon is the most accurately written book upon the EARTH! I seriously don't understand why so many people are THREATENED BY A BOOK, THEY CLAIM ISN'T TRUE??? It's simply a history of people living in the America's, that had a visit from Jesus Christ as well!

Mike Lamoreaux I think this response is very ignorant and evasive sir. God didn’t say, I’m the only God of Israel, or the only God you should Worship, or the God above all Gods... He says NO gods were formed before him and there will be NONE after him. You will NOT become a god and to think so is blasphemy. I pray that you repent of these thoughts and humble yourself and read the Bible for what it actually says and not try to form your own selfish intent like Joseph Smith did. From the life of Joseph Smith you can tell that he thought too highly of himself, so highly he thought it right to take other men’s wives. Please turn away from this false prophet sir, it pains me to see so many people put their faith in something that cannot save. Also... why does God say he knows of no other gods? If there is a council of gods as it is taught in Mormonism. What it comes down to at the end of the day is that you are willing to put a false prophet that came 2000 years after Jesus ABOVE Jesus himself. Don’t let Satan continue to fool you brother, get out of the trap, learn about Joseph Smith’s life and you will surely see he is not a godly man but is full of corruption, deceit and evil. I’ll pray for you.

I had a seminary teacher who told us the theory that we don’t know or talk much about Heavenly Mother because Heavenly Father was trying to protect her from having her name taken in vain. He loves Her and doesn’t want Her name to be opened up to the same ridicule and negativity that He faces. I really like that because it’s not implying that She is lesser than but that She is worth protecting.

@frankdasaintdituri9983 "Mormons" are not pagans. I think you're referring to the unique belief of the Lds faith where Christians, not mormons, of Lds faith know God wants us to be like Him. Him, who's a God. Meaning obviously being godlike beings like God. Definitely giving notion of many gods and goddesses. However, nothing to do with being a God on par with God at all. Nothing close. Just living like Him. Him we acknowledge as the one true God our Heavenly Father. To be fair, I ain't just positive, but know Heavenly Father bestowed upon Jesus Christ totally Godly power. Making Jesus, a Son and fellow child of deity like us, a God too. We do worship Him, God the Son too, but believe He is just as subservient to the Father as we are. We believe the Holy Ghost is a very godlike being too. I ain't a pro about all this. but this is how I feel. I have no fear at all believing very much in a Heavenly Mother whose a God too. Specifically a Goddess. Something that brings me comfort about a Goddess and us being able to be godly heavenly beings are these scriptures: "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." - Romans 8: 16-17 "Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God." - Proverbs 2: 3-5

Thank you so much for this video!!! This is a subject I know first hand a lot of people have questions about. Your comments are really well-founded and well thought-out! In my Patriarchal Blessing at almost each reference to God the phrasing is "Heavenly Parents." I feel so grateful to belong to the restored Church of Jesus Christ! So much beautiful, clarified doctrine--really an embarrassment of riches!!! I'm grateful you guys took the time to have a conversation on this topic. I think that far from being a "controversial topic," this is a mystery of godliness. Our Heavenly Parents are eager to give us knowledge about Themselves, the Universe, and things as they really are. They are completely eager to teach us as much as we can learn, as soon as we are ready for it.

@@hollayevladimiroff131 So, in the original Hebrew, in Genesis 1:27, the word translated as "God," "Elohim" is actually in plural form. @cheverechat
@cheverechat 2 года назад
@@lilliebrown6320 I looked into it further and actually found that you're probably right about that word referring to God and Jesus, because it's a masculine plural. However, the lack of a mention of a Heavenly Mother in the Bible doesn't mean the same thing as that believing in her is contrary to the Bible. Also, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe in what the Bible is based on, which is direct revelation from God to his prophets. That's how we can believe in the Book of Mormon as additional scripture as well as the Doctrine and Covenants and other revelations given to Joseph Smith and his successors. Some people bring up Revelation 22:18-19 to say that believing in additional scriptures is unbiblical, but actually John said those things before the Bible existed in its current form, that is many parts of the current bible hadn't even been written yet, so he had to have been talking only about the book of Revelation.

You honestly have to wonder over the years not just in the LDS Church but in other churches, doctrines and even the Bible itself how much representation of the feminine side of God or women’s roles in the Bible have been downplayed, watered down or omitted entirely. Because who was in charge of the translation and dissemination of all these documents? Men. Particularly men who lived in times when women were seen as lesser than and often seen as property. Just a thought...

Its the same with with Lamanites in the book of Mormon. The entire BoM is written from the POV of the Nephites or Jaredites, and never from the POV of the Lamanites despite them often being more righteous than the Nephites. I really hope that at some point in time, maybe in the millenium, we get to read the record of the Lamanites and records of more women in the scriptures, maybe even female prophets

Not just Christiandom. I did a deep dive in world religions and found that the expunging of female voices was a global phenomenon that seemed to happen roughly 400 years (give or take a century) after Christ. As a product of this time, the Bible would have been compiled under this influence. As the sole compiler of the Book of Mormon, Mormon was definitely under this influence (clearly unfettered by other voices who might have opted to leave more women in the BoM. I mean, the Bible doesn't have many, but the poor Book of Mormon has, what, two? There is no doubt in my mind that was a deliberate choice of Mormon's). But they were far from the only ones. Every world movement, record, religion of this time seemed to undergo a removal of female influence. I don't have an explanation. I can't say whether it was God or Satan (although some of the brutal oppressions against women that seemed to accompany it don't point towards God). All I know is that when the whole earth fell into darkness and apostasy, it took as many female voices out as it could.

@scottbennett5649

He mentioned the Biblical basis. In the creation story. If there is one God, rather than a pantheon or Roman or Greek gods, then why does the Bible use the plural pronouns like "us?" All of the pronouns are the plural. So not "Now Adam has become like ME", but rather the Bible says "Now Adam and Eve have become like US." That is what the kid is saying. What else could the US and WE and THEM mean? Christianity has never explained why the Hebrew Bible uses the word "Eloheim" for God, which is the plural of God (or is Gods) instead of using the singular of ELO without the ELOHEIM, when the Bible teaches that there is only ONE true God. This is this kids explanation for that Its an interesting point. Not the ONLY way to think about this, but one interesting way that a person can pray about to see if this is the correct understanding of the Bible Do you have a better explanation? Does anybody?

Thank you for making this! 💕 Heavenly Mother is one of the reasons I started taking missionary lessons and it's changed my life! When I was interested in Catholicism, I was so drawn to Mary.. there is something about her spirit that just makes me want to be like that. To be so divinely feminine and graceful and full of light. I always said that God must have a wife, and surely this would be our mother, and I thought that's what Mary is a glimpse of. This led to me looking into everything except for the LDS church because I had no idea you believe that. I looked into paganism, but still prayed to Jesus as I knew he was real! Then when I was talking to the Sister Missionaries I said that was my problem with Christianity, that I felt there was things missing. Like, where is Gods wife? Why did my mum dream about me before I was born? Why have I seen the spirit of my grandfather? The sisters were gobsmacked and told me about heavenly mother and premortal existence and the spirit world and angels. It was eerie, the realisation that God had been putting these truths in my heart. A sister in my ward said I'd had whisperings of the truth. Since then, I've found out that Ancient Jews actually had a goddess section in Yahweh's temple, for Gods wife, and this was forgotten and lost. I know this is true, I know our Heavenly Parents love us all so much. I just wanted to share my testimony because I know this doctrine offends people, and you'll probably get hate for it, but it's the truth.

Different roles does not mean unequal roles. It also does not mean the roles do not overlap each other or that our different cultural norms have correct definitions of what those roles, traits, even exact clothing styles should be for men vs women. I'm referring to every culture that has existed from the beginning until now. Men and women have the same power, equal power, yet different Power. Pray about it, learn more about what the Prophets say about it. And remember to go with the spirit. I think this kind of thing also spills into gender confusion. There are many things that are cultural norms for men and women, yet they are not God's norms. This includes anything from liking to play with "boy toys" or "girl toys" to enjoying boxing, frilly clothing, rugged clothing, speaking gently or flowery vs speaking gruffly, more deeply, or more high-pitched even. These are not the kinds of things that's solely Define a "straight" man as a man or a "straight" woman as a woman... just a few thoughts. As always, pray, research, stay humble, open, and stick to legit sources.

biganimefan84 Hey, I'm right there with you. I think that it's a horrible excuse to claim that we don't know about her due to Heavenly Father's "protection" of her. I think the reason we don't know about her is because we've lived in a mainly patriarchal world so it hasn't ever been natural to talk about Heavenly Mother in Christianity, sadly. I don't believe it has ever been about protecting her. And now that we're becoming less and less misogynistic, we need to be open and excited about learning more about our Heavenly Mother. -Rachel

Hi, thanks for the reply! Just literally found your channel today. If you looked at my other comment I left on this video, I definitely agree with it being the problem that we're in a patriarchal world. And unfortunately, even those called of God have always been brought up in that to some degree. But yeah, no one on Earth is perfect, far from it. I do like though that we are becoming more equal as a society.

It only makes sense that if we are truly spiritual children of a Heavenly Father, that there would be a Heavenly Mother. Nothing puts that thought in more perspective than the hymn: O' My Father: #292 Church Hymn Book Lyrics: 1. O my Father, thou that dwellest In the high and glorious place, When shall I regain thy presence And again behold thy face? In thy holy habitation, Did my spirit once reside? In my first primeval childhood Was I nurtured near thy side? 2. For a wise and glorious purpose Thou hast placed me here on earth And withheld the recollection Of my former friends and birth; Yet ofttimes a secret something Whispered, “You’re a stranger here,” And I felt that I had wandered From a more exalted sphere. 3. I had learned to call thee Father, Thru thy Spirit from on high, But, until the key of knowledge Was restored, I knew not why. In the heav’ns are parents single? No, the thought makes reason stare! Truth is reason; truth eternal Tells me I’ve a mother there. 4. When I leave this frail existence, When I lay this mortal by, Father, Mother, may I meet you In your royal courts on high? Then, at length, when I’ve completed All you sent me forth to do, With your mutual approbation Let me come and dwell with you. Text: Eliza R. Snow, 1804-1887 Music: James McGranahan, 1840-1907

This is one of the most interesting 3 Mormon videos. I've asked LDS missionaries about these beliefs before and they didn't seem to know much about a Heavenly Mother, other than they believed she (or they?) exists, so thanks for making this! My question, though, is why don't Mormons pray to her? THere's a very short explanation thrown out at the end of the video--something to the effect that Heavenly Father is trying to protect her from us--but that kind of makes it out that either she's a bad influence or that God is a controlling spouse who forbids his children to know their mother; however, I don't think that that is what was intended. I don't know that I personally believe in a female god (or even a gendered one), but if I did, I sure as heck would reach out to her. Are Mormons allowed to pray to her if they wish? I don't know of a decent mom anywhere who wants zero communication with her children, even if they were horrendous to her.
@kathrynhays7794

J F we don’t pray to her simply because Jesus taught us to pray to Father in the Bible when he prayed. I don’t think God is trying to protect anybody by not talking about her. I think that God and Heavenly Mother are so in sync with each other that when we are talking to one we are in fact also talking to the other. I know she is real and she loves me that same way I know God is real and loves me.

Here's what we believe about the Bible. 1 Nephi 13 "20 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld that they did prosper in the land; and I beheld a book, and it was carried forth among them. 21 And the angel said unto me: Knowest thou the meaning of the book? 22 And I said unto him: I know not. 23 And he said: Behold it proceedeth out of the mouth of a Jew. And I, Nephi, beheld it; and he said unto me: The book that thou beholdest is a record of the Jews, which contains the covenants of the Lord, which he hath made unto the house of Israel; and it also containeth many of the prophecies of the holy prophets; and it is a record like unto the engravings which are upon the plates of brass, save there are not so many; nevertheless, they contain the covenants of the Lord, which he hath made unto the house of Israel; wherefore, they are of great worth unto the Gentiles. 24 And the angel of the Lord said unto me: Thou hast beheld that the book proceeded forth from the mouth of a Jew; and when it proceeded forth from the mouth of a Jew it contained the fulness of the gospel of the Lord, of whom the twelve apostles bear record; and they bear record according to the truth which is in the Lamb of God. 25 Wherefore, these things go forth from the Jews in purity unto the Gentiles, according to the truth which is in God. 26 And after they go forth by the hand of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, from the Jews unto the Gentiles, thou seest the formation of that great and abominable church, which is most abominable above all other churches; for behold, they have taken away from the gospel of the Lamb many parts which are plain and most precious; and also many covenants of the Lord have they taken away." We believe that when it was written, it was truly inspired by God and that it contained His full Word. However, we also believe that over time through the many times it was copied and translated that it became corrupted. (We still believe that many portions of it are good though, just incomplete.

I know all about the fall in the garden of Eden, but why did that make it necessary that blood would be shed? Why does God want blood? Either from animals in the Old Testament days or Jesus in these days? Why is BLOOD so necessary? Can you help me with this? It really has me struggling. I know I'm really late and I'm in no means an expert, but something I have been taught is that in the bible, God is always referred to as having "flesh and bone" (and that's how christ is refered AFTER his resurection). Humans/mortals are referred to as being made of "flesh and blood". I think due to this blood is something that seperates the mortal and the immortal. Due to all the science about how blood is so necessary for life, idk how that fits, but I've decided I might just have to wait till the resurrection to learn that. I also think it's interesting in how Greek mythology, gods have golden blood. And in Latin American mythos, blood is so crucial to sacrifice. But those could be completely coincidental

God's power has a basis in the principles of godliness. It is not arbitrary. The things God is capable of which humans don't understand are not instances of God bending rules at whim, but operating according to laws humans simply aren't privy to. What the doctrine of Heavenly Mother posits is that husband/fatherhood and wife/motherhood (man and woman working in tandem to do more together than they can alone) is integral to what it means to be God. Interestingly, although Orthodox Jewish people don't agree with our church's definition of God, their sages teach that each individual here on earth is actually only half of a soul until they marry their spouse. Only at that point, when the male and female have been brought together by God, they're considered a full soul together. They teach that's what God meant when Adam and Eve were told to be one. This is a lot and quite messy. Please ask for clarification if how tangled it is hasn't forced your brain to want to go shut down and recover somewhere.

@@cheverechat It doesn't matter what anyone posits, the only thing that matters is whether God has revealed it. And God has revealed no such doctrine of the existence of any Goddess. It is absurd to say that the Ominpotent God need a Goddess to do what He cannot do by Himself. There is not a shred of evidence in Scriptures that people were only half a soul until they're married. What about people who died before got were married? Or divorced or even married multiple people like Joseph Smith? All references in Scriptures as to souls are of people of a complete souls, not half a soul. Read the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31, Jesus refers to them as individuals, not half of individuals. This is what happens when people abandoned the Catholic Church, they get "tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting". "For this reason I kneel before the Father (pater), from whom every family (patria) in heaven and on earth derives its name." Paul's point with "patria" in Ephesians 3:14-15 seems to be to compare pater and patria. All families (patria) derive from the father (pater). It is a play of the Greek words pater and patria. The greek word patria is a derivation of the Greek word pater (Paul wrote 100% in Greek). The expression "in heaven and earth" really just means "everywhere." Consider the sentence "I searched heaven and earth for that sock." Heaven and earth can just mean everywhere. So I interpret the sentence to mean that everyone everywhere derives from God, and so we have good reason to kneel before Him. Patria emphasizes our relationship with God the pater, who is our creator and caretaker like a father.

Sometimes the world sees being a mom (even at home) as something inferior. Until you have done it you don't understand it. It can be quite menial, humbling, and less flashy, however when you're putting your heart into it you will see why it is such a superior and amazing thing to be. Sorry guys the plural form of God (Elohim) in Genesis has a much easier explanation than it referencing the heavenly mother. It is so simple I cannot understand how anyone can miss it! in Colossians 1:15-17 it says Jesus created all things and He is before all things and everything is held together by His power. John 1:1 says in the beginning was the word and the Word together with God created everything. Word = Jesus - Beginning = creation. So there were at least 2 people working at creation. Genesis 1:1 says the Spirit was there too. Now 3. That is a more plausible and biblical explanation for the plural form of God being used in Genesis. Hope this make sense to you guys? Btw...is it you or Jehovah Witnesses that don't believe Jesus is part of the triune Godhead?

So satan has introduced a false prophet to usurp the authority of scripture by new books. Think about it. Jesus perfect life, death and resurrection only gets Him into Mormons 2nd Heaven! Philippian's 2 says every knee in heaven and earth bows in worship to Him! Of course faithful Mormons are above Christ in Celestial heaven.

John 15:13. Jesus says, " Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." The greatest love is for God to lay down His life for man. Not a gods son. Please don't take my comments as trolling but more so as sincere concern. You all admit that this "heavenly mother" is nowhere mentioned in scripture but yet and still believe this to be true through the revelation Joseph Smith was given. So when the bible talks about a 3 person Godhead, how does that this "heavenly mother" fit into that? If the bible says God is Spirit, how is a Spirit married and procreating? The bible says in heaven we will not be married nor given in marriage like the angels, so how are we having a heavenly wife or wives and procreating? My point is scripture tells us test all spirits (1 John 4:1), that satan can masquerade as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14-15 referencing Joseph Smith's reported encounter with this angel maronai), God's inspired Word is good for doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16), and to prove all things and hold fast to that which is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21). So if you all believe in an open canon of scripture and modern revelation, for something to be revealed means it's not in the bible. So at that point, what is the test to see what someone is saying is of God? There has to be a perfect source by which everything else is tested.

"Heavenly Mother" or "Goddess" to us pagans, is half of the universal force (or god/god-head) and our "God" is equal TO "Goddess". So why wouldn't there also be balance within the Christian idea of God. The only divine feminine i've really heard about in Christianity is Mary. I have Catholic family members that also believe (unofficially) that the Holy Spirit is the spirit of the divine feminine, which is really eye opening and interesting. I think the reason we don't mention Heavenly Mother is quite simple. Humans are a polytheistic and idolatrous crew by nature and scripture has gone to great lengths to emphasize the unity in the Judeo-Christian Godhood. Marriage makes you "One". The Godhead is "One". Jeremiah 44:17 talks about the people of Israel worshipping/making token sacrifices to the (idolatrous) Queen of Heaven, and blaming their neglect of her for their struggles instead of adhering and embracing the commandments of God the Father. I think that speaks volumes about human tendencies. If Heavenly Mother was doctrinally present, how long would it take us to separate Her from Heavenly Father? 5 seconds? I have no personal doubt that Heavenly Mother exists, but I hope I know better than to start dwelling on her as a separate, divisive entity. She is there. She loves me. She answers to Mrs. Heavenly Father, and I will respect that.

Language is definitely a barrier that prevents us from fully understanding God Himself. Language denotes gender (male and female) because humans are categorized into two genders. It is to accommodate to humans, not God. In the beginning, God created man in HIS image. Male and Female. This means that God is BOTH male and female. When a male and a female come together as one, together they are the image of God and His plan. Language restricts this from being fully understood because of our genderization of language. We cannot understand this because we don’t have the understanding, knowledge, and wisdom that God has. The plurality of words can also denote the presence of the Holy Trinity, not another separate God present. Because “...there are no Gods before or after Me [God]...”

@0:22 "we've got [sounded like "almost"] no revealed doctrine but we know she's there..." please people, everyone in the video and anyone reading this, we have God's Word for a reason. They just know "she's" there because..................??? You will believe anything with that reasoning. That's why you test things. I love you all and don't want anyone to believe things just because.

The Holy Ghost is Hebrew Feminine. Our Heavenly Mother. Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image... male and female he created them." If on earth it takes a woman and man to have a child. Then being made in God's image/likeness. It would be the same in heaven.

My anchor to the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints well before I had a testimony of it's truthfulness is that God wants us to become just like Him. To me that is perfect love, and authenticates He is our Father. Loving fathers don't want their children to be less than them. It is evil for a father to want his child to be less than them.

I totally believe that God doesn't talk about our heavenly mother[s] because she is absolutely sacred to Him. She is so sacred to Him that he is not about to put her out there to be spoken of in any ugly, or nasty way. To protect her from being trodden under feet of men in all manners as they do to Heavenly Father or Jesus Christs name and legacies. I also wonder if knowledge of her was lost throughout time. You know when men saw themselves as superior. Maybe they removed stuff about her because she was female and they saw masculinity as power and strength. And clearly other Christians believe that God is not flesh and bone, so it would be reasonable if once they decided on the Holy Trinity, they removed her them because they thought why would an all powerful spirit need a wife. Or probably more likely, she had been lost before, and that was part of why they assumed he was only a spirit. I also have to question if there are many Heavenly Mother's. Nobody wants to hear that, but the thing is, it's human beings that find these things not palatable. When we are raised to immortality we're not going to see things the same or feel jealousy or pain. We may not like it now but once the spirit bares witness of the truth, you can come to a place where you can easily say, "Whatever it is going to be like in Heaven, whatever the normal is there; even if I can't grasp it right now, it is going to be so beautiful, so joyous and so amazing!

A simple illustration might be- whose image was Eve made after? If God the Father is a man then we can understand whose image Adam was created in, but what about Eve? It would stand to reason that she was physically patterned after the Divine female. Hence Elohim meaning ‘the Gods’-also Nephi refered to Mary as the mother of the Son of God- after the manner of the flesh- which of course implies that there is a mother after the manner of the spirit. Of course there also the hymn O my Father. We really don’t need to be explicitly told who our Mother in Heaven is or what she does. She is a Queen and rules in union with our Father in Heaven- God does not give us a command he himself doesn’t or hasn’t keep/kept. So when we are commanded to be one with our spouse, you can bet God does just that. In actuality ‘God’ is a shared title and role. How can it be different from our own unions? I believe the pearl of great price tells us that Adam and Eve together took on the name of Adam. It would stand to reason that the same principle applies to God. So when we say God, we are really saying The Father and the Mother. If I believe amiss then I would to God that he make it known to me.

You can find conference talks about her too. Everything beautiful in life is her and her nurturing love. Combined with Heavenly Father's tender care and strength is beautiful. Ive read from one of the early prophets that the first thing you feel when you pass through the veil(die) is how loved you are by your Heavenly parents. Its the most powerful precious and powerful thing! We can feel their love a little bit when We're filled with the Spirit when we do what the Lord asks us to do. When our heart is full in this life its only a taste compared to how much we will feel it on the other side. The gospel is love! Love for God and love for each other. Its the pure love of Christ!

As a Catholic we dont believe that God has a wife but we do believe there is a queen in heaven and that is mary mother of christ we never say shes a God she is not even at the level of God but we believe she is above the stars and the earth in a poetic way. Also as a catholic we dont believe people are necessarily in hell we belive that most people go to purgatory before they enter heaven the dwelling place of God that means mormons are going to join us in God's kingdom.

Not everything that exist must be written on the bible or should be found in the bible. Family in heaven was mentioned in Ephesians 3:15. Could there be a family in heaven if there is no Heavenly Mother but only Heavenly Father?

The reasons I believe Heavenly Mother is not well known are the following... 1. The Prophets, Apostles, and writers of the scriptures had and have very limited understanding compared to God 2. Things have been mistranslated over time 3. Things have deliberately been altered by people over time. 4. Unfortunately, we live in a very patriarchal society. Sure, that is changing(and maybe not for the better with some feminists being anti-male), but for 1000s of years it's been like that.

I have felt her presence in my life. She has let me know that she is real and she is very involved in my life just like Jesus and God the Father and the Holy Ghost. When I think of the beauty of the earth I think of her, when I think of rain and snow I think of her. (she feeds us) She is the nurturer and she is close to nature and a part of nature. That is how I see her. Everyone loves to be out in nature and we feel nurtured by nature.

@@thepsalms2806 I feel like Christianity has taken pagan concepts and rolled them into Christianity. If you look at most faiths, they have Christ like figure in Egyptian mythology there is Osiris in Hinduism there is Kristna. It's all very interesting. The concept of mother goddess is very common. It goes back to the Jewish Goddess Asherah.

Love you guys but this one is just so far outside of any Church teaching I don't know where to start. Find one place in the Bible that refers to this or any original church father, any church tradition that predates the Schism (1054). Nothing you pointed to tells me there is a heavenly mother -- this sounds like a human construct to try to make sense of something that is not human and beyond our complete comprehension. We refer to God as Him but he is the O'ohn -- the I AM. There is no separate goddess y'all. There is just one God. Jesus came through Mary but from God and is God. I know you all are on fire for God and that is wonderful, but I will need more to go down the garden path with you on this one. Pray for me as I pray for you.

In John 10 Jesus asserts his divinity with the claim that he and the Father are one. They took up stones to stone him [f]or blasphemy. Jesus asks them why they think it is such an absurdity to equate yourself with God - it is written that ye are gods! And we read in John 17 that this oneness with the Father is not exclusive to Jesus (v21). Neither is it exclusive to men, for in marriage the man and the woman become one. The most direct correlation regarding a heavenly mother is with regards to creation - let us make them in our image (selem, a physical representation - a statue) and likeness (demuth, facsimile, pattern - ability to reason and emote). Since there are 2 different entities created, they must have been modeled after 2 different forms.

Some believe that the asherah is also connected to a phallic symbol. It would certainly give a stronger meaning to Ezekiel chapter 8 verse 17 where it can be rendered "they put the branch (asherah) to HIS nose"
