Where did Teddy go? So I did all the math, and Teddy starts Hogwarts in 2008, since he was born in 1997. He would finish school in 2015. The play he is talking about is starts in 2017, and ends in 2021. So Teddy would be around his 20s during the events of the fan fiction play. Again, where is he!!!

I also love those things about the story. Albus being in Slytherin and besties with Scorpius is an awesome concept. Love the play as something to see at the theatre. Story is ridiculous us and not good and definitely not canon.

Albus and Scorpius should’ve still became friends, but more gradually. There’s absolutely no way that someone like Scorpius could go on to trust anyone right away because they sat in his compartment, especially if it’s a Potter. Albus should be the one worried about Scorpius. He knows what it’s like to be outcasted and should look out for Scorpius.

Yeah that's the message that Jack Thorne is passing. It tells us that Hermione can succeed because of Ron. Hermione can stand on her own. She is strong and independent woman. The seven books takes us through the seven stages of Alchemy until Harry becomes "Gold" He has all the answers at the end of book 7, and we are constantly seeing how much wiser Harry is, or how morally Just he becomes. Dumbledore himself admits to Harry that Harry is the greater man of the two of them, that Harry alone is worthy of the Hallows, something he was not worthy of. We also see constantly in the series how Harry analyzes other people (like all four Marauders for example) and points out their character flaws (James and Sirius for Bullying, Peter for being a traitor, Lupin for being a coward), when he confronts Sirius about what he saw in Snapes worst memory, he rejects the notion of James being young as a reason for his mean actions, claiming that he himself was at the moment the same age as James was in the memory. This is for us the readers to also see how Harry Morally compares to other kids his own age. We read from Harry's perspective that The Marauders actions should not be normal, when in reality it's Harry who is beyond his age in Wisdom, and Morality. So of all mistakes possible for Harry to make, a moral mistake on a characters judgement post book 7 is so unbelievably unlikely, and most definitely not with someone like Minerva whom he has known for most of his life. Harry is by the end of the Harry Potter series a symbol of Justice Cursed Child is not canon, and Harry would never have told this to McGonagall!

We are talking about this Hermione Granger who did so many things. She would already have a respect. Instead Thorne puts her down to make it seem as if she can succeed only if she is with Ron. I absolutely love friendly debates!! Therefore I feel, due to how the internet can be, I feel the need to pre-insert that this comment has absolutely no ill intent. It is just expressing my personal views. Also, it wasn’t my intention to make this comment so long. Sorry! Now that that’s said, onto my comment. Here is where I have to(SLIGHTLY) disagree with you. Harry may not be abusive in the physical sense. But you can see there are aspects of his fatherhood that mirror the Dursleys parental choices. But before I get into this, I’m going to be pulling from personal experience to explain. I have grown up with alcoholism. My grandfathers an alcoholic. My dads an alcoholic. Neither are kind when drunk. My grandmother will lecture you to hell and back about how you should never drink, and all the negative alcohol can bring, but will do absolutely nothing to stop my grandfather from buying alcohol, or consuming it. My mum grew up with this. And you can see mirrored views in my mum. She hates drinking, will call my dad out when he’s been drinking. But, I firmly believe, because how my grandmother never did anything to stop my grandfather(in what I have seen, growing up in their house), has shaped my mums view that believing things like beer and wine aren’t too bad for my dad to drink. The cycle continued with my sister up until a few years ago, when she and my brother-in-law quit drinking. Basically, my brother-in-law would put buying alcohol as an essential, right up there with food. But because the cycle evolves as the generations go on, she would actively give her own money for my brother-in-law to buy alcohol. Three different generations, all shaped by alcohol. Against it to the end, but do nothing, or say nothing until confronted with it, in the form of drunken anger. Recycled patterns. Each a slightly different form, but the same pattern. Back to Harry Potter. He may not want to be anything like the Dursleys, and may actively try to be everything they weren’t, and nothing they were. But here’s the thing, they were, essentially, his parental figures since he was one. We do see him mirroring some of their behavioural patterns. He grew up, treated differently, because he was different. Something they didn’t like. He saw Dudley get the world, not only for being their own child, but being normal, while, he was treated poorly because he was different, though not knowing how until his 11th birthday. It is because Harry was different that caused his mistreatment, in my eyes. Petunia left Lily high and dry when she found out about Lily’s magic pretty much. Had Lily been muggle, I genuinely don’t believe she would treat Harry the way she does. It is that ‘Different is wrong.’ attitude we see Harry mirror in Cursed Child. He’s had a prejudice against Slytherins right from his first day in the wizarding world. The infamous line of “There ain’t a witch or wizard gone bad that weren’t from Slytherin.” Albus sorted into Slytherin makes him different. And not only different, but a form of different he does not like. The same form of difference, that the Dursleys were given when Harry arrived on their door step. Harry Potter, whether he knows it or not, intends to or not, likes it or not, learned from the only parental figures he had during the crucial childhood stage of learning behaviour, to view difference in children negatively. Especially the difference he does not like. We at least see him admit his wrongful behaviour to Albus in the end, and what appears to them both actively trying for a better relationship. So here is the part I do agree with you. He would absolutely not intentionally let his child feel unloved, and it appears that he will do everything in his power to make sure Albus knows this now. As for do I see Cursed Child as canon? Yes, I do. It has JK’s seal of approval. Approval it would not have gotten if she didn’t, well, approve of it. I doubt she would work so closely with the play if she didn’t approve of the story. THAT BEING SAID, I view it as an entirely different form of canon, completely separate from the original series. It is not fan fiction. It is not in line with the original series. It is, in my eyes, a form of canon unto its own. I could go on. But I feel I’ve made this comment to long already. Again, I am not trying to be rude, just put forth my views(and personal experiences) on the topic of learned behaviour being separate of child abuse.

Milkywolf Z Even angsty fifth book Harry wouldn’t do things like telling his son he wishes he weren’t his son. Our kind, considerate Harry is not this Harry. Now I’ve seen arguments that say “oh well he went through a war. Wars change people!” And I understand that point of view, I get it. But Harry wouldn’t open up to feelings like the mood swings of the lengths of this book. Harry just loves bottling up feelings but not shaking them to make them explode, no he bottles them up and saves all the crying and ranting for another time, especially if someone else is feeling bad. I have this sort of headcannon that Harry feels others emotions are more important than his and should be treated as such. Same! Mine wasn't as special as yours but I did cosplay and I met nice people I talked with, it was a great moment. When the books came out I wasn't really old enough to do something like that. (I picked up the 7th book, that mum had pre-ordered, from an empty bookstore on the day of release, I didn't wait in line for the exact minute they would start selling it.) Anyway Harry Potter fans are super nice and it's always pleasant to talk to them. I don't like the Cursed Child very much at all, but I decided to keep it in my bookshelf simply because of the great memories associated with the day I got my copy.

Really? Maybe that depends on what country you're from. I'm from a smaller country, so there is a real sense of community in the fandom. Almost everyone is friendly and happy to meet other fans.

So if the movies followed the books a little more closer than they do (which they do the whole give lines to the wrong characters and actually cut out characters from the books that are over with the fans) then each movie would be 3 to 4 hours long which each movie is approximate 2 hours each. I think having Harry say that to his son, Albus, pissed me off the most! The thing he wanted most in life was a family. Regardless of what his kid did he would not have said that to him! Most good parents wouldn't! My kids annoy me at times but there is no way in hell I'd ever say that to any of them. It was just wrong.

As Far As I See It,The Movies Are Canon: Just A DIFFERENT Canon. Like,It's Just A Different Universe Where Some Things Happened/Happened Slightly Differently Than The Books (Example: Ron Telling Harry About Slytherin And Not Hagrid).

Just like all movies based on true events, twist certain facts to make it better viewing experience. Although the movie changed a lot of things for no good reason at all as well..

The movies are fun but if you are concerned about getting the actual legit story, you have to read the books. The movies are like a nice compliment to having read the books cause you get to see it on screen in live action to some extent.

Yes! This! Harry's characterization is so wrong in so many ways! Are you telling me that Harry who always loved to be a detective, and solve mysteries would just blindly listen to Bane without figuring things out for himself? Would threaten McGonagall, a person he respects so much, with Ministry action, after being a victim of the Ministry's injustice himself? Harry had a temper, but he was so quick to recognize his flaws, he was one of the most forgiving people in the whole series, and was never cruel or hurtful to anyone. So I don't even want to talk about the Harry and Albus scene, it makes me so mad. Grrr....thanks a lot Cursed Child, for completely butchering one of my favorite characters! That's one of my least favorite aspects of CC. That, and Albus being a whiny, ungrateful brat, and one of the worst protagonists I've ever had the displeasure of reading. And how DARE they make Cedric a Death Eater??? He was a true Hufflepuff, for crying out loud! He was fair, just, and treated everyone equally! That's what being a Hufflepuff is about! Yeah, exactly, even at the end of the last Harry Potter, he was encouraging his son about being sly Theron and all that. Harry is less of a sit there and contemplate than a go getter. Whilst I personally accepted it was canon because it was J.K's word it was, and I accept her wishes I still agree with the points you've made. Draco was amazing as father, and the friendship between Scorpius and Albus felt good after everything between Draco and Harry. It showed that even though you might have been rivals, it doesn´t means the future generation has to hate each other because of it. And the theory about Rita writing her own version about canon actually seems like a possible situation.

Jane Hopper That is simply not true. Firstly, it is unclear whether the Sorting Hat was aware a piece of Voldemort’s soul resides in Harry. Putting the horcrux aside, Harry still exhibited many traits sought after by Salazar Slytherin when selecting students. Slytherin house is known for students that are ambitious, clever and cunning. Not to mention being shrewd, strong leaders and achievement-oriented, which Harry definitely is regardless of the piece of Voldemort’s soul in him. Also his cleverness, resourcefulness, determination, and “certain disregard for the rules” make him a reasonably perfect candidate for Slytherin house. What set Harry apart was the fact that given the opportunity, he would rather save those he loves and be put in harms way than save his own neck. Harry is a perfectly acceptable candidate for Slytherin house without even acknowledging the bit of Voldemort’s soul. And if Albus was like his father at all, he very well may have been sorted into Slytherin.

Agreed. The idea of Voldemort leaving behind an heir and a portrait in case he died, just contradicts his personality in every single way. First with the way Voldemort demolished his soul and body, he was likely physically incapable of having a child. Secondly even if he was capable somehow, he would never ever want a child. He wouldn't be involved in any sort of intimate relationship, not even with Bellatrix. Lastly he wouldn't even have a child for the sake of leaving behind an heir in case he died. Because Voldemort would never ever make plans thinking _"in case I die."_ To him death was unthinkable, his greatest fear, and he genuinely believed he conquered death. So why would he ever make plans "in case it happened"? Also Voldemort believed that only himself deserved limitless power and eternal life. So he wouldn't care about leaving behind an heir to conquer the world for him, if he's not going to be there to reap the benefits. Voldy would never care about empowering anyone else but himself, not even his own child.
