I feel like I comment this on every video, but seriously I highly recommend hiding the time bar on JRose videos. It makes the E4 section in particular so much more suspenseful
@@PresidentNathan just move your cursor away from the time bar, and don't move it again. The time bar will fade away after a couple seconds. I recommend watching while eating, washing dishes, or some other activity where you're not touching the computer, that way you won't be tempted to check the remaining time
@@plebisMaximus if you watch his let's plays he uploads super frequently actually. It's only his soft lock challenges that are sporadic, and I assume that's because it's hard to keep finding new soft lock situations
Working out the reasonably lowest luck-based strategy for a run wouldn't be a thing, if luck didn't exist. So the obvious conclusion is just that the more luck-based his moveset, the better his stats have to be for a reasonably reliable strategy.
"A pokemon most unfeazant" Its those types of jokes with the famous/infamous count impressions that make these videos more enjoyable than one would expect. Keep up the great work. ;)
*See title.* “Oh, Delibird in Gold/Silver, that’ll be amusi-“ *Read closer. Its Black/White.* “Black/White!?! But... the adjusted EXP! JRose, no! By God, the views aren’t worth it man!”
the adjusted experience curve isnt that bad.... iuf you are doing a single pokemon run, you can still pretty easily get to 70 by the time of the Elite four. so, not that big a factor as you might think.
@@hi-i-am-atan thats fair enough. i did pokemon single runs with tepig to emboar and lillipup to stoutland, the earlier gyms are actually a hassle sometimes.
@@deadlytoaster1422 Nope, Foul Play uses the target's actual Attack stat (which also includes stat modifications) and the user's modifications like burn or items.

@Generation156 be careful with that word. Anzu/Tea likes to use it and if used in drinking games your liver won't like you after playing the friendship drinking game.
This man even dropped the Christmas solo run. 100% the most underrated channel I know, your stuff deserves so much more love. Merry (late) Christmas, JRose❤️
Now for after Christmas, try beating Red or Blue with just a Koffing. James did get his Koffing for Christmas after all. Koffing is the pre-evolved form of my favorite Pokemon, Weezing.
@@maruku4445 I see a lot of love around for Koffing specifically, not so much Weezing. I’ve always been more of a Grimer/Muk man, but hooray for communal love of sludge/pollution!

I play gen 5 all the time for my own solo runs and have never had an issue with the EXP. maybe its cause I rarely play any other games to see what the EXP is like there
@@ArthurTRead probably part of it is that a lot of gen 5 runs on youtube are being done on youtuber production schedules, so they genuinely do have to do things as fast as they can

This isn't a comment about this specific video, but I just wanted to say thank you for all the content you provided in 2020. Really helped me get through some rough times. Your videos are calming, relaxing, interesting and fun, whilst rekindling happy memories of simply enjoying Pokémon for days on end as a kid. Thanks so much and all the best for 2021! Looking forward to your next videos :).
2020 Jrose: "I spent 2 hours on the rematch with Caitlin, the longest I've ever spent against a trainer ever" 2021 Jrose staying awake till 5 AM trying to beat Cynthia with a Bidoof: "Pathetic"
I did a run in Crystal with a Delibird only using Present (and struggle) and it was a bit of a nightmare. I gave up on Bruno when I was Level 95 and he just destroyed me still.
Only those moves + quad weak to rock sounds impossible for gen 2. I would've allowed TMs and HMs at that point. I guess you could hold bright powder or something
@@UnknownVir I wanted to see how it would go and it went pretty far. I remember having to be Level 70 or so to beat Jasmine, that was another huge road block. But Present healing the opponent is such a bitch sometimes, it's the biggest reason it becomes so difficult (besides Delibirds typing).
oo I remember doing a delibird only run of crystal. Using only Present and Struggle definitely makes it near impossible, but with a normal moveset, the game is actually pretty easy
No hall of fame. Its not official, and seeing as they broke the computer with their stupid 2D castle, you have to come back later. But of course they forget to stamp your hand so you have to pay full price of admission, and the staff pretends not to recognize you so you have to do everything again.
I think N couldn't be champion officially because he never beat the gym leaders, he just showed up at the league with a legendary and Alder let him in because he wanted the battle to happen too.

Does the battle with N not qualify as "first hall of fame" on the pc?
He actually is the first trainer to refuse becoming the champion after winning the League. It's actually a pretty interesting insight into his intentions as a character, and I really appreciated the nuance behind that decision. Seems others had a different opinion on this outcome though, I really enjoy this ending a lot and I feel like it's particularly fitting for the story being presented here. Especially since it's breaking the fairly repetitive mold of "muh muh champion battle". But also, for how he got in, I'm almost sure Team Plasma was behind the scenes manipulating everything so that even if he lost, the League would be threatened in the same way as before. I'm sure they either had people collect badges for him or blackmailed the officiators to let him in to fight the E4 and champ behind his very own back. This I mostly feel due to the castle under the League and Ghetsis already being there??? Like it was almost as if the League was doomed from the moment they set foot in it. I think this is kind of an interesting meta discussion in it of itself because it doesn't get talked about often and could lead to some cool theories IMO.
at the third gym, you shouldve considered getting the Black Glasses in one of the alley-ways, that mightve turned thief against dwebble into a 2hko instead of a 3hko
oh nvm, after doing some research l found out that there isnt any dark-boosting item in thr 3rd gym town. l couldve sworn there was something like that in one of the dumpsters, but l must be thinking about some other item

As a longtime fan, this took me a while to realize that it's really your commentary that I come to watch and care about. To be honest, I've tried watching other Pokemon RU-vidrs who do challenges in different generations but I don't find them as entertaining as your videos. Hell, I could easily see you doing podcasts as your voice/commentary is something else. It's yours. I stand by the statement that whatever game or generation you choose to go to, I'll be happy to watch. Thank you for putting yourself through Delibird hell Jrose.
I would loooove to see this!! Stadium or Stadium 2 challenges seem super rare for some reason. They're much more interesting to watch because of the 3d graphics (that are much livelier than modern Pokemon games).
@@loulou3676 stadium 2 is brutal if you're only using rentals. many trainers use super cheap strategies (karen in gym leader castle) and i believe your pokes are technically underpowered compared to the pokes you fight, particularly in R2. it's a really, really long game, too (current speedrun WR is ~20 hours). i think it's worthy of certain challenges using rentals like monotype or using pokemon from one evolutionary line (bulbasaur, ivysaur, venusaur etc)
I love how between 20:00 - 23:00 he keeps saying how fast the run is going. I look at the progress bar in the video, and see how much is left, then just laugh evilly at this poor man
Really like how the Christmas intro sounds, way more so than your regular intro! (Sorry if you mind that.) Neat to see a Gen 5 run! I'll probably comment more later after I've watched the rest of the episode.
5:50 I'm Canadian, & as long as I can remember, I've pronounced itj "Herdy-err". 17:30 Kinda disappointed the Delibird run is ditching the signature move for Return, even if I understand why. (Funnily, though, Present doesn''t make Contact, & considering what comes up next....) 52:38 & I thought Carracosta was brutal.... Great run! Thanks for uploading!
Subbed. More effort than I'd ever expect for a christmas meme. Never seen your stuff before but you have one hell of a backlog. God bless your tortured soul
I’ve been blind for years, always thought it was Watchdog until hearing you say it just now haha, goes to show your mind will trick you once it’s set on something
I’m subscribed to 977 RU-vid channels, I watch 3 hours of RU-vid everyday, and yet you are the only channel I have the notification bell activated for. If that’s not a compliment, I don’t know what is. 😎
What a wonderful remix of the opening jingle. What a fun idea for an episode in general too. Thanks for all of the entertainment you've provided us throughout 2020 Jrose, and I bet you'll make sure that 2021 will be even better!
I just finished the blindfolded stadium 2 challenge that you did and it threw me off thinking you were doing this blindfolded too. You should do more of those! It was cool how you figured out what pokemon and moves you were using.
Really enjoying this change in scenery. I would have kept watching and kept enjoying regardless, but it's nice with fresh content, there's a lot of cool new factors into play in Gen5 too
im loving these interesting runs with pokemon that arent necessarily just weak, but also have some interesting mechanics like shedinja and present on delibird here
Probably! Words are pronounced differently in other countries or even within countries, even if it’s spelled the same. I remember learning french people can’t pronounce a certain letter how americans can, which makes them pronounce certain words in english weird.
I'd love to see some Black 2 or White 2 Challenges with the strongest Unova Pokemon on Challenge Mode. Hopefully those would be easier for you since they'd be in the "How fast..." series. Happy Holidays!
God bless you jrose11, you are the man the world needed you to be for 2020. Thank you for your content and your inoffensive patter. Peace out man and happy new year!
Just finished watching a bunch of your "impossible" runs - great stuff! I like that your videos are often over an hour long. Plenty of time for detailed commentary on your losses, wins, and strategies. And I personally love seeing runs like this in the newer generations. I'm not a huge fan of Gen1 runs because the AI is so bad that often times players win because the opponents pick the stupidest moves at random. I hope to see more post-Gen1 runs whenever you get to them :)
Merry Christmas! I'd love to see a Starmie gen 1 run at some stage, see how it does. Early game might be tough with no level up moves, but a stab psychic and the fact it learns thunderbolt is dirty, so late game should be a breeze
I appreciate your work! I like to put your channel on when I'm going to sleep because you have very consistent narration and it's soothing as heck. Keep doing what you do!
