The age of tiktok makes it harder to define what even is “satire” anymore. So many things that I started to say as satire have just become part of my normal language and I have to question if I’m even being satirical/sarcastic anymore.
i also think that this “uncanny valley” of engagement is really good for engagement, because it makes people want to rewatch and seek out more content o understand what’s happening
@@showtime1235 he’s satirizing internet culture. The fact that it’s hard to tell if it’s fake or not plays into the joke. Modern times are so strange that today someone can say that they only drink gfuel and sleep 15hrs a day n you not even sure if it’s bs bc that type of ridiculous lifestyle nowadays is somewhat believable.
@@mechadonia no like look up the definition of satire and it’s not what he’s doing satire has to be comedic and has to give itself away as not being real what he’s doing is filming something that has no humor (not as in it’s not funny but there’s literally no punchline or comedic scenario) and he’s trying to make it as believable as possible so by definition he’s not doing satire he’s just making a stupid skit that peopel will obviously think is real (because he portrays it that way) so after he gets attention he can claim it’s satire and save face satire is not supposed to trick you it’s supposed to make you laugh
Genuinely some of the funniest shit going on right now, Idk who I saw a video on it from, but its a whole small community that banded together over somebody doing it seriously and then made it satire
I’m sure some of the satirical ones started out as genuine but they just went with it either out of embarrassment or because they gained views/followers. They made it work for them 😂
You know you've just performed a sociological study in applications of modern satire on social media and viewers perception. All while chugging seltzer and being handsome. What a good man gunnar is. Seriously though this is valuable data.
In order to streamline the rules I propose you at first show 3 tiktoks, the most popular, oldest, and newest, and then have chat vote. And definitely have your proof ready beforehand
3 comments on things nobody cares about: - I liked the way the song transitioned in the beginning of the video, it was smooth and cool - I appreciate you spending like 30 mins on the bit in the beginning haha, I can see myself doing that - I love how you use google docs to organize videos! I’ve seen it in a few now and I think that’s super smart especially seeing some get deleted so saving them somewhere as an archive is great Ok nerdy rant over lmao just wanted to say that
Whether or not someone says it’s satire, you have to be able to see it as satire without having to jump through a million hoops and research. Then it’s just an ARG or an un-fiction.
Poe's law: Without a clear indication of the author's [or creator's] intent, it is difficult or impossible to tell the difference between an expression of sincere extremism and a parody of extremism
I can’t believe this is the first episode of “Is it satire?” I love these vids and playing along 🤣 but it’s cool that the rules made of in about 5 hours actually work really well and have stuck
I would say the distinction between satire and trolling lies more in the fact that satire is trying to say something while making a joke while trolling is just pretending for the purpose of screwing with people and not with how distinguishable it is from being real
This gives me hope for the human race because it shows we’re still evolving; there’s literally no limit do how stupid people can be now. What a time to be alive!
At the beginning I was like “Gunnar why did you doubt chat’s satire radar?” and as soon as they got the first one wrong I knew that doubt was a good call lmao
The whole pouring beer over your head to make sure it’s finished is the dumbest thing ever. Unless you spend an extra 2-3 seconds really sipping at it, you’ll always get that drizzle on your dome
6 cans? That reminds of that Jessica Knappett bit where Jimmy Carr asks her what the biggest difference between the US and here is and she goes: 'WeEll, I think what we would describe here as "a good time", they would describe as "a severe drinking problem."
Everytime I get too sucked into anything on the internet I start finding things that I feel like they jsut have to be a joke, they can't possibly be for real but I can't tell bc its just barely clear if it's a joke or not and it makes me so anxious so rhen I jsut leave whatever it is and forget about it
Ngl that game is great. I would really enjoy it if you decide to play it more often. (btw promoting this channel on your other yt channel was good, I would've never found out about this channel if it wasn't for your latest video👍
