In some countries of europe we are paid just to study in university by the state, most of the others is just for free and in US not even the athletes are paid this is mind blowing for me....
No it isn't! They don't have to go to COLLEGE TO EARN A DEGREE! You can go be a bagboy, garbage man, pipe fitter, taxi driver, Uber, Painter........These are schools so go learn not to be an IDIOT like yourself.
well you go to school for an education...so the NCAA kinda screwed up very few go on to play professional sports..i would laugh an an application or a person in an interview for a job if they said i played sports...they are hosing these students..
+Dylan Walsh The simple answer of course is yes. However, a student athlete who loses his/her scholarship due to injury often has nowhere to turn. Some have dropped out of school altogether in order to string enough together to cover medical expenses. Fun fact: the NCAA originally invented the term "student-athlete" so they wouldn't be liable for these students' medical bills acquired from injuring themselves while playing collegiate sports.
The argument that every sport should get paid is stupid do the soccer coach get paid as much as the football coach no because they bring in no money so to say the athletes should be equal is stupid should the nba and wnba be paid the same I mean their argument is stupid I understand every school is different so to me the top schools who do generate billions should leave the ncaa and form their own league have the top 50 schools for football and basketball I think thats what is next to come
In europe you can go to uni and even earn money because they believe that every person should handle their money and their educational future by their own!!!
I'm kidding, my wife says he can't go until he's 18, and I say he has to write me a report and oral presentation stating exactly why and his objectives. Colleges can't contact a kid until they're 16 regarding sport, I think, so there's that too. Although he'd probably do just fine taking starter classes with underprivileged kids for whatever he needs polish in (he's literally a big kid after all). Besides he's thinking he wants to code for a living and for that university isn't necessary, so there's really no rush at all... granted he's pretty much certain to be able to swim in college if he wants.
There are two issues here racial issues and money. Money being the first and the big problem. The second issue is race, the most televised sports are basketball and football. Also the students in these sports are African American, here is the problem
If you never played collegiate sports, you have really no say in this great debate. I have played collegiate ball at Iowa Western CC, yes, it's a JUCO, a damn good one. I was a blue chip/held several D1 offers in high school. Former Minnesota verbal commit. However that's not important, what's important is whether athletes should be paid in college? My short answer: No. Yes, it is very difficult not being able to work a limted/part time job, or having to run dorm room to dorm room begging for Roman Noddles...I know, I've done it and I've seen countless former teammates do it. However, we are getting something much more than an opportunity to play a sport we love, and that's an college education, most times free, others half, 3/4 paid by respected institution. Paying players will never work. Why? You cannot pay your star QB the same wage of your red shirt/pine riding/4th string QB. (Not every team is as blessed and fortunate as Ohio St U). I do believe in giving the players, regardless of scholarship size, playing time, etc an untaxed stipend. What's your take?
Barrington Morris How about just pay the damn players ? Don't make it complicated. If your a better player, you get more money. period... There are so many reason why they should be paid but the main reason is the ncaa makes money off them. If you put in hard work year round training for a sport that a another corporation makes money off of (regardless of your scholarship, because that is just one corporation) then you deserve to be paid.
