@@RobMarkman I agree with that, which is why I'm not taking it too seriously, but I don't think this is the only time. I think there's a bit of a paradox to Cole. I believe his apology was an honorable thing to do. However, what would have been better in hindsight, was expressing his true feelings on wax similar to let Nas down. He created a historical moment in hip-hop, but it goes toward his greatness, not counts as a mark against it in most people's eyes. Even after he apologized, he still could have (and still hopefully will) come back and express himself really well on wax and give us another connecting moment. The paradox is, his vulnerability also comes with him airing out his flaws. I loved hearing him say "instead of pretending like I'm some incredible n**** just let em hear all of it." However, hearing "all of it" also includes the Grippys. He could have kept that one, and I think most wish he would have. Lol Part of what makes him so great is also what keeps him from being one of my go to's a lot of times. He shares the misses as well. I feel like I'm waiting for him to bounce back more often than waiting for him to drop.

So there is that....and Note to Self came out a decade ago. People can't say that him bowing out is a contradiction when unity is what he's been advocating for all of this time. Proving he's the best lyrically doesn't have to mean stepping out of his character to dismantle guys that he fucks with. But he realizes that his mistake was dabbling in it anyway and...he corrected and checked himself publicly.
