Lamar Jackson agreed to a five-year, $260 million extension ($185 million guaranteed) with the Baltimore Ravens. This makes him the highest-paid player in the NFL with $52 million a year. The Ravens also got Lamar some help during the NFL Draft, selecting Boston College WR Zay Flowers at No. 22. The team also signed Odell Beckham Jr. a few weeks ago, which raises the question on whether Lamar is now out of excuses. Emmanuel Acho, Joy Taylor, LeSean McCoy and David Helman debate whether the Ravens QB no longer has excuses or not.

Honestly, Lamar has accomplished wayyy more than Alken, Burrow and Herbert...he is one of only 2 UNANIMOUS MVPs in NFL history and has broken so many NFL records along the way. None of the other 3 have won an MVP and none have won a super bowl either. As Hall of Fame QB Steve Young has cintinuosly said, the Ravens were holding Lamar back and if he were in the right system Lamar would be the best player in NFL history!! I will listen to the HOF QB rather than Acho. Lamar will win a SB.

So let me get this right, after 5 years of Lamar being in his prime, they signed a 31 year old, coming off of 2 ACL surgeries, a bunch of other injuries, not playing football in a year and a half, then signed someone who hasn’t stepped foot on an NFL field, let alone developed yet, and now Lamar has no excuses..? Lmao. I knew the second he signed his (WELL DESERVED/ EARNED) contract, that the media was going to put every ounce of pressure on him. Should the ravens have success, yes. But, it only makes sense that the media keeps the same energy when it comes to always finding something to hold over Lamar’s head.

He has a 1st round center that was touted as a generational talent at center, he had a hall of fame guard in Yanda his first 2-3 years. He has Stanley, who when healthy, is an all pro level tackle. Moses is a solid tackle. Zeitler is a solid guard. Bozeman was good, good enough to price himself out of Baltimore. He's had offensive line talent. Doesn't mean the O line has been spectacular, but the talent has been there.

When it comes to LJ#8, the main thing people are forgetting is that the offensive scheme plays a huge role as well. Yes, injuries hindered the Ravens. But it was 1 major factor that hurt the Ravens. 1. Their scheme - Greg Roman, the OC, installed a run heavy scheme. Yes, because of LJ's running ability. But also because the Ravens always had a strong run game. I've heard numerous people say that the reason the OC installed that offense is because the organization didn't trust LJ's throwing ability. But who was he throwing to? Mark Andrews was, and has been his best receiver. AND HE'S A TIGHTEND!!! What if Greg Roman didn't feel he had the talent at the WR position? Yes, it is the QB's job to make the other players better. But, you as an OC, have to scheme plays to get the ball in your best players/ playmakers hands. Hence the reason the offense relied solely on LJ and Mark Andrews. is it LJ's fault that some draft picks didn't pan out? No. All LJ did was win with the talent that he was surrounded with.

That’s right Joy, keep them honest. All that sounds good except Lamar hasn’t had any wide receivers to throw to , not any top tier receivers anyway! They always move the goal post when it’s Lamar’s turn for everything. Lamar should have had this help five years ago. They’re not excuses doe it’s the reality. Lamar hasn’t had healthy help, he’s had either Bateman or Mark Andrews they rarely shared the field together. His oline also sucks. Nd dobbins is never healthy either. So dey bring in Odell who hasn’t played a full season in how long ??? And an unproven rookie. That is the reality of it nothing more nothing less. Hollywood was solid but dropped passes, Bateman is injury prone, but is also solid, Devin Duvernay is a decent slot guy, and Odell isn’t who he once was.

They have gotten him players. The only common factor of all the WRs coming to the Ravens and not working out is the QB. Hollywood was a 1,000 WR and on his way to doing it again in AZ before injury. Bateman injury prone? Pretty sure he had one big injury that killed a season, that's a long way off from injury prone. And there it is, the OBJ excuses already locked and loaded.

What difference does it make how many players they get him if they are the wrong players, if I shoot a gun ten times and miss the target every time, it doesn’t matter how many times I shot, because I shot wrong every time. Hollywood was solid, personally I think underrated because of the focus on his drops but was limited because of his size, and is a number 2 receiver not a 1, Bateman has missed a lot of games already, dude was coming off of an injury entering the league and has had once since, and Duvernay is decent, but according to your logic that’s all Lamar’s fault apparently. My argument is to the people who are acting like Lamar has this star studded roster, which he doesn’t. What excuse did I make for Lamar concerning Odell? Man Acho got told on his own show. Lamar has never given into excuses, he has only praised everyone he’s ever played with. Going back to Louisville. I’ve watched Lamar since his first year at UofL. This kid has never had a dynamic receiver. He has always just made do. I am excited to see his opportunity with a solid receiving core. He deserves it to put to rest the “Lamar can’t throw” crowd.

There are no excuses for most of these qbs, so it is what it is. They gave him more talent, got him a new OC, added Roquan, drafted a stud safety last year. Even if you want to give him an excuse from the past, the excuses are done GOING FORWARD! Lamar can't get the "Boy the Ravens would've beaten Cincy with Lamar" stuff, and then not expect them to go far if he's playing.

Lamar only turned the fortunes of a franchise around and became one of the best players in the NFL. What excuses are we talking about? There's nothing to excuse for Lamar, he's bar none the best Ravens player. The excuses all lie on the Ravens front office. They took those failures and turned them into a blockbuster offseason. The best player on the team has talent to help him get even better and hopefully a scheme to maximize his passing skillset along with his phenomenal running skill set.

I feel like EDC should still go after DHop. Zay Flowers is a nice addition and will be good now and in the future but adding DHop will be an immediate impact we need come playoff time. D Hop could be that big catch guy for Lamar in those key situations. I don’t think we will get DHop, but Decosta shouldn’t stop.
