As a competitive player and someone that loves Lance as HGSS was my first game: Leon's team is actually GOOD, the only champion team that is stronger is Cynthia's, good coverage, very strong Pokémon's, good type diversity, his and Cynthia's teams are actually so good that they can be used Copy Paste in a competitive battle and be super strong *Leon's team considerate is If the player chose Scorbunny or Sobble *Cynthia team considerate is BDSP, all of her teams are incredible strong but the rematch team (Spiritomb, Roserade, Togekiss, Lucario, Milotic, Garchomp) is the strongest *Cynthia team is A LOT STRONGER than Leon's
I think that Lance was a good Champion his team in the Original games being lacklustre is mainly due to the Dragon typing rare and their not being a lot of Dragon type Pokemon at the Beginning of the franchise but now with more of them being discovered his teams were slowing getting better and atleast he did a lot at a member of the Pokemon GMen fight Crime and protecting the regions.
I mean it’s Pokémon fault for making a grand total of 4 dragon Pokémon in Gens 1 and 2, and one of them is used by a gym leader and another is the base stage of a 3 stage evolution
True, plus imagine if fairy types existed in the first two generations. Lance would be almost completely walled with a lack of coverage against a Pokrmon like Primarina. If he was champion elsewhere m, he'd have to really rework his team.
@@TheHolySacred-Cow they ruined his team by adding garchomp and salamence. should use only gen 1 and 2 mons gyarados dragonite ampharos tyranitar charizard aerodactyl
I call him the Holy Nightmare for a reason. Took me nearly two weeks to finally defeat him. Even then victory was very narrow. I managed to lay a burn on his Dragonite. He used hyper beam. Somehow, my Typhlosion managed to survive with 1 hp. The burn took effect and I won.
I beat it in 1 try but well khm the secret ash was useless in gen 2 and well I had to Quick save and load sooo its not my fault oh and I was 10 lvls lower
The difference between the other champions is you see his growth over time, when Cynthia just somehow has this amazing powerhouse of a team with no context behind it.
To be fair mystic, Lance does use all dragons. It's just that it's the dragon egg group and an Aerodactyl Edit: Didn't know he had a Kanga, so that's another one for random good picks
@@MentalOutlvl6 Is it the talk to pokemon thing that N and the lady from the Arceus movie can do? If so that holds alot of weight to a theory I've had since mid gen 5
The Pokemon League Elite Four, Former Champion, Pokemon International Police Officer, Dragon Master, Lance is THE ORIGINAL G.O.A.T. The Games kind of underwhelming.
I think in Masters Lance says something about not all dragons being dragon type, so between that and the limitations of living in a region that only had one line of dragon types I guess he had to be more flexible about what he considered a dragon. Regardless of his placing in team composition I personally found him one of the more enjoyable champions in terms of story presence. He felt more like he was actually doing stuff about what was going on without taking away from the player's involvement. There's also that red gyarados encounter.
There's a few things I want to correct you on. 1. You say his team lacks dragons, but if you look at the mon's egg groups, you'd know most are in the dragon egg group. The only non-dragon type or non-dragon egg group mon is his Aerodactyl, but that's explainable. In Gen 1 and 2, there's only 5 dragon egg group mons, those being: - Charizard - Arbok - Seadra - Gyarados - Dragonite Arbok is a mon on Agatha's team, so it's clear why it's not on his team, but now he's left with only 4 mons, so what now? Well, while not a dragon type or in the dragon egg group, Aerodactyl is the closest mon in Gen 1 and even 2 to appear like a dragon. In fact, while its name hints as it being a kind of pterosaur, it kind of more resembles a wyvern, which is a type of dragon. Why they didn't give him this exact team in Gen 1 is beyond me, but he is still a dragon trainer for the most part. Plus in Pokemon Masters, even Lance states when being told Gyarados isn't a dragon that "not all dragons are dragon-type pokemon." 2. Lance wasn't a Champion in the anime, or not in the way you think. Lance in his debut episode was called the Champion of the Elite Four, but I think that is referring to him beig the strongest of the Elite Four. Why? Because the very next episode(along with any other episode he's spoken of or seen in) he was called "Lance of the Elite Four." 3. Lance may likely be above Cynthia in the anime. In fact, it's stated that the Master 8 compete in a tournament out of all of them and it's confirmed Cynthia was in the Master 8 class. 4. You're talking about how strong Lance is, but you didn't bring up some of the insane stuff Lance has done in the manga, like how he blew up a huge section of Vermillion City with a single Hyper Beam from his Dragonair or like how in the HGSS saga he's able to put up a good fight against Palkia. Lance in the manga was overpowered.
This video didn't even bring up how he took down multiple team rocket grunts in the anniversary shorts of Pokemon. In the manga he actually wins a lot, but he only mentioned the times he lost.
In the anime? Hes an elite four member in kanto and champion of johto. Im pretty sure he hasnt lost or stepped down. Lance cynthia or steven losing in the anime to me at least would seem like something mentionable. Note the badly written leon fight...
Nah Cynthia's team is more diverse making her tougher to deal with since you need multiple type coverage. Also if you don't have ice types you can deal with him using rock types since his entire team in heartgold soulsilver is weak to rock. And gyarados is a threat to rock types but gyarados dies to one electric type move
@@phenom3918 yeah but what rock types are there in HGSS? Tyranitar isn’t available until post game. Cynthia is overrated imo. Her only really tough Pokémon is spiritomb. If you have a balanced team Cynthia is easier to deal with. Lance’s dragonites are very overleveled compared to other games so even if you had ancient power they won’t go down. You need ice beam. If you don’t have that he’s a nightmare to deal with.
For me, a pokemon silver fan, he will always be the most iconic champion. If you really want to counter his entire team with just one pokemon, bring lanturn. I had one with surf, waterfall, discharge and blizzard (which later on I switched to hydro pump, thunderbolt and ice beam right before the rematch after kanto) and it has super effective moves against any of his mons, while tanking most of them if not all of them effectively. also, the battle theme is damn legendary
Overpowered? I have flat out swept his team in HGSS with just an Ampharos. Ampharos learns Power Gem in those games. With just an electric move + Power Gem, it's enough to sweep his team.
I was able to finish his team with Raichu and Feraligatr. Lead off with a good electric type and you can put in work from there. Use X Attack on Feraligatr and Ice Fang will one shot the Dragonites. Waterfall will deal with Aerodactyl, and Charizard. Had Raichu for backup and to deal with Gyarados. Not too bad if you bring the right Pokémon around level 45 or higher. HGSS is a game I recommend not running a full team of 6 in order to keep your levels up to par due to the lack of xp to go around early on.
Also have to take into consideration that Dragons tend to be harder to raise. Plus in the anime Pokémon can still resist types they are weak too for example his dragonite taking an ice beam may not cause as much damage as it would in a game cuz he trained them well or something so him having a team that has high weakness to rock and ice doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad when it comes to the anime. I mean we seen pikachu defeat ground types with electric moves and even beat abilities that would render electric moves useless with his pikachu. In the games sure you can easily set up a team that would destroy him but anime logic doesn’t follow game logic and being that he raised Pokémon in the dragon egg group he would easily be considered one of the strongest trainers in the anime
- The Kanto and Jotoh League Champion 🏆 Lance The Dragon Master and Pokémon G-Men Leader. 🔥🐉 Dragon🐉🔥 Type Pseudo-Legendary Duelist Team : Kairyu, Kingdra, Aerodactyl, Shiny Mega Gyarados, Mega Charizard X.
With enough love and compassion and dedication any Pokémon can be good And an experienced trainer like Lance has the strength and heart to make it happen And clearly it showed since he made it amongst the top trainers The way you are judging his team is a bit apathetic and shallow And not open minded and optimistic like it should be imo
he only based on game not on the Anime. Did you saw How Leon's Charizard struggle to Fight Gyarados of lance. Leon was Forced to Evolved his Charizard because he couldn't Bear Lance's Gyarados
We would love to see How Strong Is Red and How Strong Is Blue. Red and Blue are both legendary trainers in the Pokemon games, Please do that next time Mystic 😊🙏.
Maybe it is a weird question but I have always wondered which of the evil organizations in pokemon that was actually the strongest in archiving their goals and power and influence in the world. That could be cool seeing in a video
I’m new to this channel, it came up on my feed. I’m only 6:04 in, I there is just a lot of talk of game mechanics and what I imagine is competitive standard battle stats. I know early on he said there was very little if any back story, that being said. I don’t think we should approach this from merely a competitive standpoint. Especially going backwards, dragons in the first 2 generations were some if not the strongest and rarest typing. Not to mention westerners then at least the westerners I met back then didn’t understand or were aware of the Japanese lore behind some of the pokemon. Maybe it’s premature but my point is there are other aspects of the pokemon universe that aren’t just competitive. Especially looking back when that type of thinking was not as really well founded.
In an turn based game i feel like yea he's not built for the hype BUT maybe in like a "real world" type of deal in the pokemon universe he probably is a beast. Seeing as how pokemon can dodge on command an what not and if theyre trained well and he's an elite trainer they might take a hit or 2 even if its super effective no? 🤔 Type advantages doesn't necessarily mean Victory, not going strictly by video game rules etc.
"Clefable and Wigglytuff are really the only ones he needs to worry about." Alolan Ninetails wishes to have a word with you, with its Ice/Fairy type double fucking dragons both ways lmao.
Actually in anime he was never champion. Check the sources and you'll see there's no an episode where he's introduced as Champion. Btw you forgot to mention his special Dragonite in the special tournament in Unova. It's the first time we see one with the ability Multiscale which can definitely turn him into a threat (it has dragon dance ).
Honestly Aerodactyl is his most threatening pokemon, it's very fast and hits very hard, with type coverage against electric, ice and rock, its 3 common weaknesses. And most good water types has a secondary typing which is weak against rock. On top of that, STAB rock slide not only hits hard but has a chance of flinch and with its power, it can finish you off with hyperbeam
It would have been a cool idea if instead of a team full of non dragons he actually only used a lv80 Dragonite and made it a boss battle like with Ultra Neckrozma
That said, I have flat out swept his team in HGSS with just an Ampharos. Ampharos learns Power Gem in those games. With just an electric move + Power Gem, it's enough to sweep his team.
@@susear5939 u cant get to lance with just a amphoros🤣. And it learns power gem at level 60 so you way over levelled that pokemon. Because u wanted to win against lance with no trouble 🙌 am i right?
@@DrapionRanger of course I didn't reach Lance with 1 Pokemon. I reached him with a full team. I just happened to sweep him with my Ampharos. I put it in first slot when I went into the battle.
Have you ever casually played gen 2? The difference in level between Lance's strongest pokemon and Will's weakest is over 10 levels. I could barely compete with Will as it was. Lance's rematch team in gen 2 is then WAY more powerful. Lance is OP. I'd argue, he's even harder than Cynthia since you don't get level's, pokemon and items on the level as gen 4.
With enough love and compassion and dedication any Pokémon can be good And an experienced trainer like Lance has the strength and heart to make it happen And clearly it showed since he made it amongst the top trainers The way you are judging his team is a bit apathetic and shallow And not open minded and optimistic like it should be imo You sound A little bit too Paul if you ask me
I think that the top 8 trainers in order in the master class of journeys are 1.Leon 2.Lance 3.Cynthia 4.Diantha 5.Steven 6. Rhyhim 7.Drake or Lucien or Brandon 8. Tobais or Alan maybe.
How strong is Bruno as he was the only Elite Four member to still be part of it in Gen 2 (Lance was Champion, not Elite Four, not that is bad, just saying)
You can’t just judge a character on the behalf of games. In games, no matter how strong the opponent is, you will win cuz that’s what the game is all about. Set moves are already given in the system. So Logically, it doesn’t have a human mind to use move sets in a strategic way especially in Kanto and Jhoto games cuz’ those are starting 2 regions and technology wasn’t that much advance as it is right now. And if u have to judge it by games then defeating Legendary Pokemons by Magicarp is also possible. But in anime which we can said in reality it’s even hard for a pokemon with type advantage to defeat a legendary Pokemon. Kanto and Jhoto leagues are both actually Indigo Leagues that’s why both regions have a same Champion which is Lance right now also known as Captain of Elite 4. Remaining League Champions are Steven Stone, Cynthia, Iris, Diantha, Ash and Leon.
The less annoying version of iris (btw Im talking about the anime) or should I say the elite four/champion with hex (I'm talking about his dragonite not being level 55 or above which is the required level for dragonair
My opinion, Lance's team should have had Kingdra and Tyranitar on it. Having four dragons on the team, one that not even weak to neither ice or rock types, and Tyranitar since it is the strongest pseudo-legendary mon in Johto. And those 2 could have boosted the power and difficulty of Lance's team up some. Kanto/Johto Champion Lance: Dragonite ×3 Kingdra Aerodactyl Tyranitar Or Dragonite ×2 Kingdra Aerodactyl Tyranitar Gyarados Or Dragonite Kingdra Gyarados Charizard Aerodactyl Tyranitar Honestly, any combination with those two involved, would have definitely boosted Lance's team up a lot, imo.
My issue with Leon is how much of a Gary Sue he is. Lance should have won. He had the type advantage. I honestly don't like Leon. He is overly hyped and needs to fail more.
I defetead him today, It was difficult but with my lovely wobbuffet i win, i k.o every dragons Is have , the only Pokemon Who let me lose every time was his aerodactyl. PS: Wobbuffet The Strongest Pokemon ever
Lance never beat Red(Kanto's champion before him) he was given the position because red left to complete his pokedex and then secluded himself on mount silver. And blue hasn't been champion since he lost to red.
Honestly that’s the fault of the creators for GEN one they wanted Dragonite to be unique so his evolutionarily line became the only dragon type available which is pretty bulls*t
How strong is Whitney? She’s the one person in all of Pokémon that I struggled with the most. Of course it could be because I played g/s when I was like 6 or 7 so didn’t understand type advantages or anything
