This game is jank trash and thats the best part of it and why i love it. You should see the Shin Akuma Shoryu-Knee combos. Top if i remember correctly was Zero then Geese and Orochi Iori. Zero is ungodly busted in this game. Serious and Shin are right behind them if i remember correctly. Trust me brother man. Karate is only regular busted. When you see the stupidity that Zero, Red Arremer, or Geese can do, broken won't even scratch the surface of this silly mess.
Fun tiny fact: Original flavor Takuma "Mr. Karate" Sakazaki from AoF1 was kinda the blueprint for Akuma. All he lacked was the air fireballs and teleports. But even Demon Rage looks like AoF1's Ryukoranbu. I won't say Capcom ripped SNK though. I understand the SF and FF/AoF crews were drinking buddies way back when, and shared some homework.
@@vandagylon2885 yeah. I think it's just the context wasn't some malicious plagiarism, but buddies trying to out-do eachother. Wouldn't be surpised if a bunch of devs went back and forth between both companies in those decades
Art of Fighting was made by the original Street Fighter creators. SNK characters in general are better realized and more fluid Street Fighter characters.
@@WikiHL well. People aren't exactly giving SNK the benefit if the doubt whenever they do it. So I'm not gonna give capcom the benefit of the doubt whenever they blantantly plagiarize.
Its cool to see a lot of people play this game. Its quite amazing despite its flaws. I've been playing it for a long time recently and i cant help to to continue to grow a huge amount of appreciation for this game.
I know nobody asked for my crappy opinion, but despite the fact that this game messed up all the charge characters (besides Guile and arguably Chun-Li) and whatever the hell type of grudge they had against Hugo players/grappler mains, I still liked playing as Balrog. I've been converted! Well, you know, besides the fact that I also liked him in SF Alpha 3, but I digress. Before anybody tells me to go back and look at the Supercombo wiki to look at all of his pros and cons, there's *one* particular reason that scrubs like me pick Balrog nine times out of ten in SVC Chaos. It's the fact that Balrog has the potential to hard counter Goenitz/Goenitz players who like to spam Yonokaze. I swear, you see Goenitz spam that move, just use one of Balrog's full screen charge moves in between Goenitz's animations and you are set!
So answer your question Smug that bersion of Mr Karate you are looking at is the "Serious" version and yes he is top tier. Both versions of him are really good. Serious Mr Karate is 1 of 2 Pairs of Super Bosses for this game. Him and Shin Akuma are 1 pair. The other is Athena and Firebrand (he is named differently in here) So to say it bluntly they are cracked. a recent tier list puts them around Demi- god tier The Gods in the game are Geese and Zero. I hope that helped. But don't let the tearless discourage you too much. Despite that some of the characters still do decently well against each other. It's just putting a lot of time and experience into the game but it kind of helps mitigate the gap sone might have. I hope what I'm saying makes sense.
cant wait to see smug play balrog, some charge moves are crazy in this game, with timing you can basically make the cooldown between each charge move a fraction of a second (3 frames) and spam them like a block string (example balrog dash punch or guile sonic boom being spammed like the serious mr karate frame trap spam in the beginning of the video)
This game had, like, brainwashed Iori and Ken. This is the first game "Violent Ken" debuts as a playable character (before that, it was the animated SF II movie). Violent Ken is Ken corrupted by Psycho Power, brainwashed from it. We didn't get Violent Ken since this game until Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers on the Switch.
@@vandagylon2885in SVC chaos, Ken is controlled by Orochi power . Just look at his Exceed move , the purple fire piller with skull and than Orochi iori's pose . It's Orochi ken , More powerful than that bison brainwashed ken 💪
Congrats on the Evo Win Nephew. You deserved it after all the hard work you put in. Continue to be a student of the game and an inspiration to many. God Bless You Brother.
i just started watching TAS vids of svc chaos after the re-release, and its great to see smug enjoying them too TAS of characters like zero and demitri are insane because they have so many options, also akuma/shin akuma does some absolutely disgusting things with air fireballs and demon flip cancels especially in max mode
This version is called "Honki Ni Natta Mr Karate" which is also called Serious Mr. Karate. He is considered a boss character. There are regular version and THIS version of Mr Karate. In order to play as the Serious Mr Karate, it is only possible on SVC Chaos Plus (modified SVC Chaos arcade game) without codes, and the AES console version (with secret codes). On the AES Console version : ===== SELECTING SERIOUS MR.KARATE IN AES VERSION ===== On the character select screen, press and hold [START] to activate the random/roulette cursor. Now input the following: Up, Left, Up, Down, Right, Right, Down, Left, Up, Left, Right, Right. Now press any attack button with [START] still held down, and Serious Mr.Karate will be selected. Remember, this only works on the AES Console version of the game.
I just like that the bosses in this game being playable at their full strength and not their watered down versions so you can do insane things like this
Mr. Karate isn't the strongest in the SNK universe but I will say regular form Takuma in the KOF timeline canonically deflected a city wide destroying satellite beam from the Zero Cannon and then proceeded to joke to Ryo and King about being married right after doing so. So if he's that strong as regular Takuma, he's got to be a straight monsterous when in Serious Mr. Karate form. Edit: That version of Iori is Orochi Iori or you could say he's in the state called Riot of the Blood. Its basically when Orochi Blood takes over and he loses himself and goes insane, boosting his abilities thus why his movement and jump speed are through the roof. He also gains the super he used to defeat Orochi as his Exceed in that form. So you could say its kind of like Evil Ryu but much more powerful. If you want to learn more about the incredible lore of KOF, check out shoryuyame's in depth videos on it. Its basically like this, Kof has a few canon games and then a non canon dream match title. The first 3 were the Orochi Saga (94, 95, 96, 97). 98 was a dream match. Then the N.E.S.T.S. saga was 99, 2000, 2001. 2002 was another Dream Match. 2003, 11 and 13 were the Ash Saga. 14 and 15 were the Verse saga. This should help with understanding the timelines. Also theres the main storyline and then each team has its own separate storyline that goes parallel with the main story. KOF has quite a deep story to say the least. Definitely worth checking out.
It's just takuma being super serious . He was a boos in Aof I guess. If you look correctly serious takumas move are different in kof xiii . It's just his powerful version 🤷
Apparently serious Mr karate is the strongest "human" character in snk verse, the only ones stronger than him are probably orochi or otoma raga or maybe saiki
@@mubir907 you do know ryo defeated his father in his serious version in Aof by the lore and became the new Mr karate ! That's why you see ryo with that black dress in neogeo Battle coliseum, and in kof maximum impact as Mr karate . Serious takuma sakazaki is indeed stronger than most of the character in kof but you know the drill , the old one have to give his title to the new one . Takuma should be proud to have a son like ryo who's continuing his Mr. Karate figure 🔥
Mr. Karate isn’t the strongest character in either the original continuity (AoF/FF) or the KOF continuity, but he's essentially Takuma (Ryo's dad) at full power. That's basically it.
In other words, you know those generic Shonen anime old people who decide to take off the training wheels whenever they wanna beat someone's ass beyond recognition? You get the *original* Mr. Karate! Well, you also get Tung Fu Rue and the guy with monkey mask from AoF & NGBC, but you get the gist of it.
Sorry for making to many comments. But in the recent teir list for this game. I was wrong about Serious Mr Karate. Someone did say he was Mid tier and thats true. The funny fact is. Regular Mr Karate is a Tier about his Boss Version. If you want to see the list it self you can get it from Rome's Recent video on a Beginners Guide to help new players (like you understand the games mechanics and weird quirks) Because its a rushed game from AT THE TIME a dying company. Its a great video. It would be cool imo if you react to it to help further build your way into SVC's world of chaos. Thanks for your time. Again sorry on the comment spam XD
The Red Gargoyle is from the Capcom game Demon's Crest which was a sequel to Gargoyles Quest which both were spinoffs to Ghost and Goblins/Ghouls and Ghost.
I know I'm gonna get put on blast for saying this but, we can all agree that Terry & Ryo were probably the best SNK Shotos to learn and use in the whole game (who weren't sub-bosses) right?
That punch that counts as two hits, the sound it makes is so destructive! I haven't really played but it looks like its loopable/cancellable while in max mode
Lore wise, mr karate really is a secret boss. You gesse wanted nothing to do with him and kidnapped yuri to keep him in check. And in kof 99 takuma redirects the orbital laser capable of wiping an entire city out with a smile.
Svc: Chaos is dope. Serious Mr. Karate is definitely a strong character in the game as you can see he gets nuts when in MAX mode. However, outside of it he can feel underwhelming. As he has no actual supers to cash out big damage so you HAVE to learn MAX mode combos.
@loicvibe if I remember correctly....top 5 are all mini boss / hidden characters. She's 6th best and is the best character that isn't a boss or hidden character. So basically. Out of the non secret cast. She's the best
It’s one of my favorite games and Mr karate is my favorite character which is why I like Dan from sfv. You can cancel heavy dp with kick into heavy dp with punch when you get maximum. Also heavy dp is invincible on start up so it beats supers. Also the last of the three fireballs is unbeatable. His focus is projectile invincible but not super projectile invincible. I had this game foe neo geo. So I’m happy that’s its on console with roll back now!!
If you want to see some absolutely gross stuff, check out SVC TAS runs of Geese and Zero. Both sit at the absolute top of this game's tier list, and both are pretty ridiculous.
To answer a few questions, serious Mr. Karate surprisingly isnt top tier. Most people would think so, but the main reason is because of dash cancel. He's like solid-mid. While dash cancels in other FGs just means you cancel a move with a dash or something, in SvC chaos, you can literally dash while in blockstun to essentially make your opponent's safe move very unsafe. Dash-cancelling also gives you some I-frames. It's super busted, even moreso because it doesnt consume much meter if i remember well (or no meter even possibly). Despite that, like you saw, the main reason people use him is because, when in max mode, his damage and comboes skyrocket. The fact he's mid-tier has gotta give you an idea as to how crazy top tiers like Zero and Geese are.
Serious Mr. Karate my favorite character in any fighting game. He’s not an evil god mode version like Shin Akuma or God/Omega Rugal, he’s just Mr. Karate but he’s fully locked in. Just pure smoke and hands.
The tiers in SVC Chaos were inherently baked in and they are not for debate. Mr Karate is definitely on the stronger end of the spectrum. I loved svc chaos back in the day. Max mode is great and allows for decent creativity during combos
In short yes. Serious mr karate is too op; That's because he doesn't loses his properties as a boss, maybe he doesn't deal that much damage but he's too broken (his "super" moves doesn't spend super bar). In kof 13 he is top tier.
Mr. Karate aka Masked Takuma... NICE. This is Ryo's father in a mask. The other Mr. Karate is a different version of Ryo. But yeah... OG Mr Karate is a certified heavy hitter. @7:05 Dan is not on Ryo's level so he damn sure aint on Mr Masked Takuma's level.v I see that you've met Orochi Iori, the possessed version of Iori from KOF '97. The Orochi Saga (KOF 94-98) storyline is excellent. Check it out sometime.
Amusingly he's considered a mid tier in this game. This is due him being dependent of max mode (would be considered low tier without it), because he lacks any special cancels without Max Mode, crippling his practical damage and forcing him to zone and camp until you get the meter, and once you've got answers for his zoning (usually just get good at Guard Step) SKarate falls apart, as Guard Step Cancel usage is very limited as it consumes meter and he only has one reversal (DP) which isn't anything special.
This Mr. Karate, in this universe, is supposed to be the ultimate human, he has the maximum power a human can achieve, of course, without selling his soul.
He's not even top in this game.... They called this Zero vs Geese: Chaos back in the day because those 2 are so far above everyone else. Zero says if you jump, you die, and Geese also has easy infinites
Believe it or not, Shin Mr Karate is more balanced than the other secret boss characters, Shin Akuma, Red Areemer, and Athena. For one he doesn't have any supers, except his exceed, which is unlockable. All his specials don't use meter even though they look like supers. His only good Maximum combos are the 2 DPs he has.
He's not that bad though, He's Weak against trained ChunLi, Ryu, Iori and V-Ken, specially the Later, he often eats V-Ken Force Shoryuken, and you can bait him to attack you with V-Ken's dash, making him open for Shoryukens or the Supers. Shin Akuma on the other hand is clearly and easily harder. Kinda Hard to explain the difference, but still clearly harder, as clearly harder as saying " Poles Cold is COLDER than USA Winters" 👑
You should see the Geese infinite. Serious Mr karate has to work for that damage. Also, he can’t combo normals into specials he rely on his supers too much. To continue the tradition of hateful bosses they did Mr karate right.
