0: your album is trash 1: your album is trash, but some people may like it 2: your album has only one or two "ok" songs, besides that, is trash 3: your album is trash, but there are a high number of people that could like it, and it could have some "ok" songs 4: your album has some good songs, but fails on be consistent till the end, and the concept it's not good 5: your album has really good songs, but still fails to be a complete good experience 6: the concept of the album it's ok, the songs are ok, the complete experience it's ok 7: the experience of all the album it's good, but there are some songs that ruins it 8: your album it's really great, but the concept could be more clear and enjoyable, it may have only one bad song 9: your album it's almost perfect, you may have only one "ok" song to be a 9 10: your album it's perfect NOT GOOD: if your album just disappear from the reality, people wouldn't notice that That's was my interpretation of Fantano's scores

In most music publications, "NOT GOOD" usually comes in the form of ignoring releases from scenes they don't care for. That's why there are no reviews of Smooth Jazz, Power Metal or Trance on Pitchfork.

It's simple, just consider the whole numbers from 0 to 10 and then add two points, one at -infinity for NOT GOOD, and one at +infinity for Classic.

Here's how I interpret the numbers: 10/10- Masterful 9/10- Excellent 8/10- Great 7/10- Neat 6/10- Decent 5/10- Mediocre 4/10- Subpar 3/10- Poor 2/10- Disastrous 1/10- Offensive 0/10- Worthless

I never thought of the NOT GOOD reviews in exactly this way, but it makes perfect sense when I think about it. Especially when you think of earlier ones: Unleashed by Skillet: cheesy CCM pop metal-a NOT GOOD idea California by Blink-182: a washed-up pop punk band releases another album of dumbed down music without their key member in a desperate bid to stay relevant-a NOT GOOD idea One More Light by Linkin Park: a former nu/alt. metal outfit known for their hard and emo sound releases a soft rock and dance pop album that sounds completely divorced from anything their fan base would ever want-a NOT GOOD idea That does make it interesting that NAV has gotten two NOT GOODs; I guess in his case the making of the music in the first place was the NOT GOOD idea. I like that he mentions Christgau too, since the “dud” category was the first comparison I thought of in regard to the NOT GOOD in the grander scope of popular music criticism.
