Great vid, short and sweet thank ya sir! Helped me with a cracked intercooler outlet tube on my f250. Roofing tape and zip ties for now! 🏁

Thank you. My 2012 RDX, had a light amount in the secondary boot. It was not enough to even drip out.

A main culprit of that is a plugged up pcv system which backs up the oil return line and the oil has nowhere else to go but through the seals on the both sides so if is leaking on both sides you have excessive crankcase pressure

👋🏼 you made a video before about adjusting the wastegate on an is38 what could go wrong if you don’t have it adjusted correctly?

Yeah I just put in a twincooler and there was some oiliness in the old charge pipes. I was concerned for a second before remembering one of the earlier theories of how Ferrari got all their horsepower (cheating) in Formula 1 last year was dumping oil or some additive into the intercooler, and then I was like oh that’s right, noice.

Took this advice and replaced both turbos on my F150 Ecoboost and still getting about half a quart of oil after 30 minutes of towing, should have mentioned that stuck piston rings can cause the same thing, not just one possible answer

My ko4 is leaking from the cold side but both turbine housing are dry. It's leaking out from the cold side and dripping down the engine?? But I have smoke on start up and at lights ??? New turbo maybe
@BerkinParlakay
@BerkinParlakay 2 года назад
maybe try just a new CHRA unless the turbo is cheap

Guy, thank you. I was very worried today because I blew a boot and noticed there was a very small amount of oil in the system. It's less than 1 ml of fluid.

If it's oil in the intercooler hose, can it be caused by blow by, or it's a turbo leak?
@wildfire389

Could be both. Check for play in your turbo shaft

I had no play in my shaft none whatsoever so could it be bad pcv

A bad PCV, a bad valve cover, bad rings, bad turbo, bad turbo return lines are all potential causes. Mine had the valve cover blow out & was letting huge amounts of oil into the charge pipes. Replace valve cover (camshaft cover, engine cover, whatever it's called) & oil consumption went back to normal.

I've got a whole pool in my piping I'm thinking a turbine seal broke when my engine went.

Peaceful blow. All except the oil smoke and subsequent puddle from a block hole

It's not a problem until you let it become a problem. A cup of oil every 50k miles it's normal. A quart every 10k miles it means your turbo is leaking. Don't wait for it to break and look at an expensive fix. Take it to a mechanic.

there should be almost no oil in the turbo pipes, if it has like a puddle of oil in the intercooler or piping then its probably leaking from the turbo shaft. Also check the turbo shaft for play, if its loose and it has like more than 1mm play then it is done it needs repairing/changing. I recently did change the turbo cartridge on my car TDI. It was consuming like a 1 liter of oil on 200-300km(150miles). I also found that my intercooler was leaking because it was covered in oil completely. BTW you could drive the car like that and just top the oil, but i guess the valves will get oily at some point and wont close properly which will require an head rebuild...
