I love Pearl Jam. I've seen them 8 times. The most memorable time was the 1st time I saw them. It was August 1992, Lollopalooza 2 at Bicentennial Park in Miami. Why it was so memorable was the incredible line up ( PJ, Soundgarden, Ministry and the headliner RHCP, among others) and because we were hit by Hurricane Andrew a few days later, one of the most destructive hurricanes in Florida history.

Also love the green flannel! I had the same thought as you when the song started. Wait, this doesn't make me think pearl jam at all. Seasons Beatings. I would love to hear that. I'm flashing to a Stanley Kubrik A clockwork Orange, a Sat night live sketch when Eddie Murphy did his In the neighborhood skit. Before Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall... That sort of feeling and tone.

First time watcher of your channel - and… my friend, you have a new subscriber. Really impressed with your insights into the musicality (shows your mastery) but also on the vocals. When you said that Eddie was struggling with that chorus but that it still embodied the spirit of being vulnerable in rock… man, that captures rock music! I mean, Eddie is 59 years old. I love that he is still putting himself out there. And trying that chorus (knowing he’ll have to sing it every night on tour) - that’s a rock star baby.

Pearl Jam is my entire early adulthood. I think the thing I miss more than anything is Dave Abbruzzese. Matt was great for Soundgarden but a lot of PJ's soul is lost in his mechanical drumming. He's good but not dirty at all. Pearl Jam needs the live sound you spoke of.

I'm hearing a lot on the social medias that the song sounds nothing like their roots - and I get that. But, like Justin I was there for their debut and the following years and I actually hear a lot of Vs. in this track. I think it's solid. And I'm happy to say it because although I loved the "Avocado" album, I couldn't follow much of anything they put out after that and got pretty tired of the folk band that they have sort of become. I have high hopes for this album so far...

Pearl Jam Ten, Vs., and Vitalogy were great albums, though Vitology got a bit avant garde, at times. Then, from No Code forward, I was interested less in their studio recordings than I was in their live performances. To me, that's where this band lives. Don't get me wrong. I do t like their in studio recordins, but Do The Evolution (Live) destroys the studio version of itself. Their concerts are epic, no two nights are the same, and they often play longer than planned sets and end up paying the city for violating their rules. The song is good. Live though it may become quite another thing.

Taylor is being nice. You all are misreading his commentary. When he is saying “younger” it essentially means “amateur” cuz that’s what it sounds like.
