Ravens are definitely still really strong, producing nectar is so valuable and if you can gain food in the grasslands, it shouldn't take very long to get your 4th/5th bird to start laying eggs en masse. The opening strategy to snipe the nectar is something I've never thought about, I'll probably start keeping junk cards in my opening hand if I'm looking to play an expensive bird early.
Perhaps grassland raven is equally strong to base game. You might earn 5 - 7 fewer eggs but be in a good position to take all 3 nectar battles (+9 points on opponent).
Grassland is dead. Got a Galah down first round, and with Oceania's strength of the forest engine - it became a 30 point bird by the end of the match! Raven's are good....but that good?
Yep I do miss the less exotic flycatcher/towhee/hummingbird grasslands that used to be viable though, now it really seems that its Raven or bust@@danny234555
Grassland is weaker but is still the only habitat where activations automatically earn you points and building further automatically earns more points.
I'd rather just get rid of all house rules. I don't think any one card is so disproportionately powerful compared to the next best card. Wood duck definitely became even more powerful, like you indicate but it's still close between it and the raven for #1. The question basically is whether you would rather get cards or eggs while gaining food. It depends on how easily you could gain access to the other resource.
