Mr. Fung I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I had a diabetic ketoacidosis that put me in the hospital. I'm not overweight at all. Is there anyway you can do a video on that subject? Your lectures make sense to me and have helped calm me down about my whole situation. I was prescribed about 50 units of insulin a day but I am skeptical. Please I hope you see this.

Association correlation, *Either* : A causes B, B causes A, or X causes A & B. Applied here: fat people choose to skip breakfast (B->A , just as likely). Or X = health conscious, and X causes both less obesity (B) and more breakfast (A).

This week marks already one year since I started keto, and Intermittent fasting. I'm fasting everyday. Usually having only dinner, just one hour window daily, sometimes two. Drinking Argentine Yerba Mate, Green Tea, a mix of Guarana, Damiana and Coca leaves herbal tea, also Coffee during the day. If I sweeten beverages, which I don't do often, it's either ground stevia leaves (not those "stevia" white powders) ground dried monk fruit (the real thing, not fakeanto) and even less often Allulose, erythritol, xylitol, etc. Eating window arrives, but I'm not hungry. I eat solely out of nutrition. Strict Keto, mostly carnivore. I hunt, fish and raise most of what I eat. When I do buy, I head to the countryside and get amazing meat for a unbeatable price. No middleman, just buyer and producer. Eat a lot of eggs, not just chicken eggs. Cooking with lard, tallow, ghee, coconut oil. Olive oil I use a lot, but not to cook. I replace many ingredients I used to cook with in the past, such as soy sauce. No more soy or anything with it, coconut aminos is a million times better and more delicious. Vegetables, usually tomatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, bell peppers, onions, zucchini, avocadoes, etc Once a week, I have dairy, mostly organic, homemade. And prepare keto ice cream. I started knowing NOTHING, and still learn everyday, and continue to apply and try what I can, adapting everything to my own situation and needs. I started after going through years of bad health, finishing with a life threatening illness. Was wrongly diagnosed, went through a treatment that I didn't need, when finally properly diagnosed, had to face small odds of survival. Thank God, managed to, but the side effects were really bad. One of these was weight gain. My doctor (God bless her) was advising me to eat anything I wanted, as often as I wanted... Now I know how bad that advice was. I finally decided to take my own health into my hands, and after visiting several doctors, that would prescribe me pills and more pills... I found Dr Fung, Dr Lustig, Aajonus Vonderplanitz, Borja Bandera, Shawn Baker, Paul Saladino, Thomas DeLauer, Eric Berg, Sv3rige, Frank Suarez, so many others with so much information that made me begin to question, agree, disagree and really encouraged me to do something. I lost 60 kilos already, and many of the side effects and chronical problems (both physical and mental) are either gone or subdued. No more depression, anxiety, just an extremely neutral, cold, objective mindset all the time. It's like I can really choose how I want to feel about a certain event or person. I'm not carried by sudden urges or bouts of sadness, etc. Dr Fung's books SPECIALLY have been the gate that I needed to get through, when everything around me was a huge wall, dooming myself to a lifetime of illness and despair. Let's help this hero continue his work. Let's spread what we learnt. And let's learn more and more daily. May God bless Dr Fung, his team, his family and all the people who are struggling right now for self improvement and well being.

@texas2far
@texas2far 2 года назад
@@lennygarrison6836 no not at all brotha. I started off cutting out all bad junk food and bad carbs in my life. So no more soda, fast food, bread and candy etc. And I completely stopped eating breakfast, just coffee and out the door. And I did alternate day fasting....it was pretty aggressive. So one day was an 18 hour fast and the next was a 24 hour fast. After a month I tried my first successful extended fast of 71 hours no problem. After a total of 4 months I had lost 70 lbs. But during that entire time I was fasting I was also doing a mile or 2 on my treadmill 3-4 times a week and hitting my bowflex a few times a week. So I started the fasting process in September of 2020 and to date I've lost 75 lbs (which is where I want to be). I'm 40 years old 6'3" and 191 lbs. And honestly now that my weight is under control I can have cheat days on what I eat (pizza, burgers, etc) but I just don't eat like crap every day or even more then a couple times a week (learn to love grilled chicken and fish). But now that my metabolism seems to be alive again if I do slip a little and gain weight I just do an 18 hour fast one day and 24 hour fast the next day and I'm back to my 191 weight.
@texas2far
@texas2far 2 года назад
@@lennygarrison6836 oh also if I decided to not have coffee in the morning I'd drink a really big glass of water and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. I'm a believer in that stuff. I still don't drink soda very often. My favorite alternative is sparkling water because I like to be able to burp when I eat to relieve that pressure. I know some fasters cut out every bad thing food wise out forever....but I want to be able to actually enjoy life. I'm not looking for perfection....just a happy medium.

Yes!! This is exactly what would happen to me when I was in high school twenty years ago. I was a wrestler, so I would eat six or more bowls of cinnamon toast crunch every morning with eggs and bacon. Two hours later my stomach would hurt so much from hunger that I puked and dry-heaved in the bathroom many times. I thought I had a tapeworm or something, but it was a major struggle to keep my weight down for my weight class. And of course as a high school student, I didn't know anything about nutrition so I didn't know what was wrong with me. Magically when wrestling season was over and I stopped eating breakfast, I felt fine until lunch. I completely understand why now.

I was going to comment exactly this...plus; for 3rd shift workers, they wake up at 4pm...so even (supposed) natural circadian rhythms don't apply. I've read about what time of day the body does this or that....but in college I learned that everyone has their own rhythms and when we abide by them, we are more peaceful overall. Our digestion works better when we eat according to hunger...not a time clock. As we listen to nature, we will nurture it in accordance with the general way of things...as well as the individual uniqueness of each of us.

I was in advertising decades ago, never worked on a food account, but colleagues who did: thanks for the laughs Dr. Fung! The kids were cute, white, not poor. Mom knew best, with a huge box of Kelloggs or whatever on camera. We knew breakfast food is extremely profitable, and has indefinite shelf life. Ralph Nader spoiled the charade in the 70's, forcing nutrient postings. Glamorous Mom's turned into Plain Jane's, practically in lab coats, thrilled it had real wheat in it, additives not mentioned. That's when we stopped eating breakfast, and waited till lunch....

Most people's breakfast is: Orange Juice, Pancakes, Syrup, Fruit, Cereal, Milk, Sugar, Coffee and half and half. (All sugar and carbs) I've stopped all that and skip breakfast now 3X a week [when I do breakfast it's eggs (grass fed) and sausage, avocado, tomatoes etc. low carb] this helps keep my blood glucose down for a longer time. + I do a 36 hr once a week.. I would love to get to doing OMAD. I have lost around 35 lbs; need to lose another 25. My blood glucose averages around 99 so have to watch that. Hopefully once lost the rest of weight it will go down (+ I cut all sugar, fruit, and processed food. Still cheat once in a while, but hopefully stop completely) Being able to get into my Regular 36 strait cut work jeans is a big motivator. Before could not. Only got into "relaxed" 36 which is a 40 in reality + having to pull in my stomach. My aim is college weight of 180. I started at 242. I'm now 206. ( I walk One Mile a day 4-5 times a week and have added an easy bike ride (10miles) I drive down to the beach broad walk Venice or Ventura once a week and bike there. Worth the drive and effort + Very enjoyable. Added note: Individuals on insulin or highly variable blood sugar levels must consult a knowledgeable doctor before embarking on a fast. Because blood sugar levels could drop when fasting, go too low, and could be dangerous.

It almost seems like a trick to get people to eat more. If you spike your insulin and blood sugar first thing in the morning you’re more likely to be eating all day because your blood sugar will crash and you’ll need to eat another snack.
