Hands-down, the best, and most objective review of clothiers I've seen on RU-vid. Your integrity is appreciated, Brian. Keep up the great work. Cheers.
Don't you all just love his down-to-earth, composed demeanour? And no in-your-face bleached set of teeth that you see everywhere these days. Thank you so much for your concise and eloquently put thoughts on Suitsupply. You're a bastion of tranquility amid a universe of screaming RU-vidrs. But since when do we call shops 'showrooms'? Of course they want you to say that, but why go along with their marketing ploy?
I’ve only been to the SS in Greenwich CT, i went in wearing dirty work clothes and they treated me pretty well. I loved it, I wasn’t sure what I wanted, but they knew exactly what to pick for me. And they altered the pants for free. So it was a pretty good experience
It all depends on the salesperson you get. My guy didn't care at all, didn't know how to measure.I ended up with pants I couldn't even squeeze into and a dress shirt larger than my jacket. Best of all, he accidentally duplicated the order then demanded I send one back to be destroyed. I did him one better and sent it all back.
You are the reason I don’t go to SS. It’s respect for others to not go in dirty clothes because you are going to fit new blazers that other people might want to buy.
Did that and did not get a good experience and I went back to pick up my suit and they had me wait 25 minutes and gave me a different stylist so it felt like I was starting over again
As some people have already pointed out, the way you present yourself is very pleasing for the viewers. So many RU-vid channel hosts try too hard. I particularly like the absence of rhythmic music and constant cuts and changes of the camera angle. Keep it this way! Thank you!
Hey Brian, totally agree with you on the 'Pros' and almost all of the 'Cons'. It's funny, I feel the same way about their pants. Besides the rise always being too long for me, there's just something that's not quite right about the fit. Also, I've generally had pleasant showroom experiences. Their jackets are usually a great fit though. Great video as always!
@@hespokestyle I notice that both you and 40 Over Fashion both say you have issues with the trousers of suit supply. As a tailor I would be interested to know more about why the fit is not quite right, could you go into more detail, maybe a picture or two. Of course, if you have time in your busy schedule.
Tom Bennett I believe the issues with the trousers is due to the Italian type of fit. People generally are wearing their jeans/pants lower so I would advice lowering the waiste line 2 cm lower. So the trousers have a better feel around your bottom. I have done this for all of my Italian suits.
Completely agree with you on the showroom experience. I exchanged emails with their head of retail about it, but I don't think they have made any changes. I shop in the Madison Avenue store quite a bit and the staff has the terrible habit of dumping you in a changing room then going off to help other people for 30 mins. They could do so much better with some retail / client services training.
Bought my first SuitSupply suite in 2011 at their Broome Street location. What you have said on this review is on the spot. Pretentious associates and non-fitting pants are the ones I can relate to. Stopped going there a few years ago when I can't stand the associates anymore. Thank you for speaking the truth.
It’s actually crazy how accurate this video is. I went into suit supply thinking I’d spend about $500. When all was said and done, I ended up spending about $1000. I like the suit and the fabric but I couldn’t get the pants to fit me nicely. Even here in Canada, the showroom experience is still poor. The person that helped me felt pretentious and when we finally decided on a suit they didn’t have in store, she ordered the wrong size for me online and I had to return it a couple of times because I didn’t remember my size. Like you said thought, the return process was very pleasant and the customer service reps were very nice.
My experience in Canada was the complete opposite. Went several times and every time was amazing (the store was always so empty). Only had trousers hemmed and opened (trousers was much too small for me and they didn't do mix and match, that is a bummer I admit). I was asked if I wanted the trousers tapered but decided not to do it until I was sure of what I wanted, the sales man agreed never pushed it on me.
Absolutely concise and insightful commentary on Suit Supply. The pretentious nature of their rather young staff is the biggest turn-off to purchasing in-store.
Not too bad, I guess I'm 24 so I shouldn't be talking but the guy at men's warehouse offered a lot of interesting ideas, great sense of color contrast. I'm new to fashion but a lot of stuff he told is practically the same as most youtubers
I had a great experience at a showroom in Arnhem, the Netherlands. The dude had over 40 years of experience in the men's clothing industry and over 12 years at Suitsupply. Absolutely amazing service and I totally love my Napoli mid-blue check suit! 🤩
You are so right, good sir, especially with your point on the showroom experience. I had the same here in London and walked out after 15 minutes since no one of the staff seemed to care and they were busy talking to each other rather then looking after prospective customers
Thanks for this video. I actually dig suitsupply, but your comments on the showroom experience are spot on. I've shopped at three separate locations in New York and always feel like they're trying to rush me out of the store or don't bother asking clarifying questions/offering advice. It's a shame because customer service could be a great differentiator for them.
Love SuitSupply. Proud to support the Dutch company, my office is right above one of their flagship stores. Even when taking a break outside their staff is always ready to give advice without 'selling' you anything. Just genuine nice staff that always get the fit perfect. For a very decent price too.
I’ve purchased 3 suits, a blazer, and a tuxedo from SuitSupply in Scottsdale AZ. I have never experienced the excessive alterations you mention, and have never had anything but an exemplary customer service experience. The guys there are sharply dressed, extremely knowledgeable, and have always gone above and beyond to make sure I’m comfortable, happy, and totally satisfied.
Spot on with the salespeople and showroom experience. I don’t think many are seasoned in the menswear field. Almost as if they took an intense crash coarse on mens suiting and feel because of that they need to educate you on everything they learned. Also, spot on with trying to sell you what they prefer over what you’re looking for.
I have been looking into Suit Supply recently, since after losing a bit of weight my suits don't fit any more. The price is definitely what drew me in, along with the styles and fabrics they offer. I have been to a store not long ago and the staff were nice, but I will see how they do when I actually decide to go get measured to buy a suit!
I've had a positive experience at suit supply in Newport Beach, California. The people there were really nice and friendly. Throughout the process, they weren't trying to sell me on things that I didn't need; which made me feel comfortable. Never did I feel rushed or talked down to. If you live by a suit supply, I really recommend going through their custom program. I think the suit will end up fitting you better and also you could alter the suit as much as you would like and never have to worry about the cost of alterations piling up. Another plus is that any future alterations are taken care of. I feel like the fit is predicated towards men that are on the slim and athletic side. If you are not into the fitted look then this may not be for you. In regards to the pants, they are on the tighter side so that is just something to be aware of. The fabric and construction of their garments are on point. Overall, I think you are getting a pretty good value for what you are paying. Just my two cents. Thank you for the video.
Just had a great experience in the showroom in San Jose (Santana Row). Not pushy, no pretentiousness. I’m very happy with the quality of the suit and the experience of customization. I bought one with just a $13 hem adjustment and another which was customized and I’m looking forward to receiving in a few weeks.
I went to a brick and mortar and the stylist recommended the custom order which includes all alterations, I was happy with the experience. Will be a month or 2 until I actually get the suit but my experience in the store was positive and the stylist was helpful and not pretentious
I 100% agree with you I’ve been to the DC store twice and have had the same poor experience there. I prefer oliver wicks I’ve left and went online to OW twice and purchased suits there and they always take care of me. It takes some time to get measurements perfect but they do offer $125 in alterations my fist alteration was $150 and they still gave me the extra $25 even though they didn’t have to. OW also is “custom” picking lapels and side tabs among other things. To me it’s a no brainer OW has all the same fabrics and is right in the middle price range 499-699ish.
Last con* in my view; I loved my first experience in Milan showroom, boys over there were super helpful and very kind. They were even willing to organise the appointment via Instagram message. Once I arrived to the showroom they knew straight away who I was and they served me with very well English spoken man. After being there for 3 hours, purchasing my suit they even gave me the gift, free silk pocket square.
Hi Brian, I ended up rewatching this. I want to say that at 3:30, I am the one being pinned and the tailor is Ted from Suitsupply Stockholm. We shot that picture for a review in 2018. Imagine my surprise to see it here!
You are Spot on, 100% I went to the one in Tysons in McLean Va. I don't know who the staff think they are, that was my 3rd time in the store, nobody acknowledge me at all. If I didn't need to unload a gift card my wife gave me, I would never step foot in that store.
Good video! Personally have a different experience with Suitsupply, but that may be because it is a Dutch company, I am from The Netherlands, and I can imagine sales reps having a different attitude due to that! Pants do have a difficult fit die me too, probably because I have big thights from squats lol. Otherwise it is my go to shop, actually transitioned from casual shopper to hanging out there for coffee and just chill with Some of the guys there every once in a while!
@@hespokestyle I have to agree here. My experience in a German Suitsupply store was great but perhaps that is because the majority of the people working there weren't German (Here customer service (CS) is pretty bad). And while I'm not super tall (171 cm or 5 ft 7 in) with semi big thighs, the fit of their pants after alterations was/still is quite nice. Now granted that is just my own personal experience. Granted I am just 1 data apoint my experience was better than average German CS and perhaps yours was worse than average American CS ?
Here in the Netherlands (where Suitsupply is based) I generally have a really nice showroom experience. Yes, they try to rush you into signing up for certain stuff and make alterations that aren't really needed but I've always gotten a friendly and helpful vibe from the employees.
Can only agree with the showroom experience. I was at a suitsupply store in Hamburg and after waiting for 5min to be recognized (I was openly seeking attention), the lady didn’t really care to show me any suits. I asked her for advice but she told me that I could take a look at the suits they have. 10min later I went to a boggi store. The sales leader is an Italian gentlemen from Milan. This guy is the real deal. He said I will make you look perfect and he did.
Right on the money with the showroom. I've found the showrooms in Europe much better. The NYC showrooms are pretty pretentious as is the showroom in SF.
I agree with the bad in store service. Whenever I've gone, they've just been decent. Not horrible, but not great. However, I have had amazing service from ordering online. They messed something up so it took almost a week just to ship the order, so they put overnight shipping on it at no extra cost, and contacted me apologizing.
I somehow do agree on the alteration part, I visited a London shop today, and for sure it's very posh and the people there are very professional. It is a bit like Starbucks but in a very modern high-quality product way with better efficiency. I see customers picking up their stuff, people coming like waves, just keep coming. Many of their staff I would say indeed with an attitude, not going to judge as I did not talk to the rest of the staff, and felt not very approachable, but they are polite. Alteration is indeed costing me quite some money, and it is surely their business model, by selling extra packages ( alterations ) to generate profit from where the good fabrics might not be able to. The sales assistant with me was good, she did bring a lot of stuff which could possibly be my option of choice also shoes to let me try on, to see the whole picture, also a smart way of getting your attention for their other products. I would say I would surely go somewhere else if the ready-to-wear suit + alteration cost you quite a lot. There are many good old tailors. But if you just want to shop shirt, jacket or trousers, might still be worth it. I just did a shirt and a pair of trousers, seems alright. At least in this busy world, you can get it done in a timely manner...
Great review! I find their products great. And sadly I must agree with you on the "Showroom Experience". I had the exact same impression as I was fighting for an attendant's attention at Madison's and Lincoln Rd's stores. It was only when I had selected a few jackets that someone came to me... Better buy online! And for my body type (tall, narrow waist with broad shoulders), alterations on suits are mandatory.
Very good review and spot on with the pants, not just with suit supply but with any suiting brand that goes more towards trendy than the customer they are servicing. I am not a fan of too tapered pants, it just doesn’t work for me, doesn’t look good on me, I just don’t like it. My pants needs to be somewhere between a slim and straight leg with a break. Slim at the thigh area and straight leg below the knee with a good rise. J Crews Classic/Crosby pants fit me surprisingly well. But it really pisses me off when stylists try to push trendy on you. A MTM company which gets very good reviews I needed to taper my pants a bit since they were very loose when i first got them, the stylist didn’t want to lengthen my pants and I said ok I trust you. What happened after when I got my pant is they were too short and needed to get lengthened. Listen to the customer since everyone’s preference is different.
This isn't the first time I have heard people bring up bad experiences when going to a physical store, and the site seems more well regarded. I don't have a store anywhere near me so all my interaction with them has been purely web based. I really like them and I like what they offer, so it is actually good to hear that most of their cons can be avoided by not ever directly interacting with them. Which is something I am currently having no problem doing.
Great review! Suit Supply has the best quality for money in suits for sure. Amazing materials and great fit (for me). But I agree about showroom experience. I drove from Vancouver, BC to Seattle, WA to get the in-person experience before buying. Fit recommendations were actually really helpful, and they helped me choose a 36 over a 38. I wanted a three-piece navy Lazio, and for some reason one of the sales reps insisted that "any navy vest will match" the off-the-rack 2 piece navy Lazio I could buy in store. When I declined, he looked at me like I was being stubborn for refusing to entertain this option. I had done my research and I knew they sold various shades of navy with different grades of wool. I knew the different mills they used, the model numbers, the basic wool vs. super 100s vs. super 120s, etc. Anyways, I got the fit right by going to the showroom, but I had to purchase online to build my fully matching 3-piece, and had to actively decline the offer of a sales rep to buy a 2-piece with a non-matching vest haha. I'm happy though, and am looking for another excuse to buy from them now that I know my size.
I totally agree on the pants not fitting right issue and the stylists being obsessed with tapering the pant leg. I know part of the issue has to do with my having really long legs (I'm 6'2") and narrow waist (30"). I also like to wear my lucchese cowboy boots (I live in Texas) with my suits so I have to have room in the pant leg to put over the tall shaft of the boot. The stylist ended up tapering my pant leg so much that it looked extremely unflattering when I tried to pull them over my boot shaft. Suit Supply did end up fixing them somewhat, but the process took alot longer with all the extra alterations. That being said, I absolutely love the linen sport jacket I bought from them. The havana cut fit me perfectly and the quarter lining and lack of shoulder pads makes it really comfortable to wear in the hot Texas weather.
Thanks for the comment, Benjamin! I wonder what the employee/stylist training looks like. Like, are they taught to promote a certain Suitsupply "look" or are they trained to address the needs/wants of the client?
Thanks for your honesty. Also "FTC: This video is not sponsored." - much appreciated! I can't stand the transparency of reviews (particularly with some of these suit companies) on youtube
Thanks so much. Especially for videos like this dealing with just a single brand in a "review"-type capacity, I think it's very important to make everything very clear. Similarly, if I am doing something that is paid, it will be very clear. Have always been a proponent of transparency. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who this it's better business to try and pull the wool over your eyes than be real and up front. I think integrity makes a stronger brand.
@@hespokestyle -- Exactly. In fact I'm happy and perfectly fine if you (or others) were to have "funded" trials or reviews. It's the transparency aspect that's critical. Much appreciated.
I agree with your assessment of Suit Supply. Fabrics and design are top notch. I only do their sports jackets and shirts because I've heard the pants just don't work for most people. The European cut does lean towards the snugger side so just beware.
I’m glad you mentioned it. I thought I was talking too much. At time I even got ignored. It’s a garment hat you’re paying $100s for. I should be able to speak and ask questions right? Not sure about the vibe in King of Prussia store
Hey Brian, I myself own about 6 suits from SS. I couldn’t agree with you more about most of the pros (except I don’t like some of the styling they do), but ALL the cons. I like a pretty classic look when it comes to buying suits. I can’t stand when they egg me on that I should hem the pants to the ankle or higher, and taper the leg (almost to a skinny fit), and even worse I have given in a couple of times when they told me I should get a size I felt was a bit too tight on me. I regret it so much, as I have already outgrown a couple of them. Most of all, the showroom experience... I am glad I am not the only one who thought that most workers there come across super pretentious. When I ask a question or try to get their attention, it seems that I am a bother/they are looking down on me. Glad you posted this! Thanks for a great review.
Hey Brian, You've basically pinpointed my opinions on Suitsupply. However, it's worth to mention that it only regards their RTW products. When I've tried their MTM-service, almost all the cons disappeared. No extra charge on alterations, very good advises from the salesman (Stockholm, Sweden) and the pants fits just as I want them (since I can choose the design myself). The showrooms are still as they are, but I guess everything can't be perfect. Thank you for a great channel and an excellent video.
What a wonderful and spot on review. I love the fabrics and modern styling. I did feel the same way visiting the Georgetown location here in D.C. So much so, that avoid I the showroom altogether and shop online. Great review, well done.
The last part of the cons, showroom experience, spot on mate... every upmarket retailer is just like that, their attendants are somewhat snobbish at times it’s a huge turn off
If you are in the Pacific Northwest, try the Bellevue, WA showroom. My experience there was rather good. No upselling on the alterations and the staff wasn’t even slightly pretentious.
I gotta say I had a much different showroom experience than described here. Atlanta Suit Supply took great care of me, Demetrius is the best. YMMV, but I'll shop there again for my next suit.
I guess I got lucky my size is 44s and its bang on. The fit is perfect no alterations needed. My experience was ok. The stylist wasn't snobby I thought. For my pants tho, I had 2 alterations done (hems and butt) for like 24$ cad. Not bad took them 40 minutes to do it. Overall pretty good experience for me
Nice video! Love hearing your opinions on these brands. For me the pants work and the showroom is something I rather like. I agree on everything else completely. Would love it if you could make this into a series and talk about other good quality but still reasonably priced brands like Spier&Mackay, etc. Thanks for the upload!
Spier & Mackay makes great jackets and pants but if you're tall like me at 6-2 with long arms and wear 40 long them, their jackets need a great deal of tailoring.
Great breakdown Brian! Suit Supply is relatively decent for the price point, however, the location we visited attempted to pass themselves off as having an in house, master tailor. What could be more of an exaggeration?
Adding my late comment and experience with women's garments, which they are still expanding. Ditto on the pants fit, though they've expanded into some pleated pants options that will probably have a more flattering and classic fit than the Robin trouser, with its mid-rise and flat front. The jacket fits about as well as one could want for a straight size - I was truly pleasantly surprised. My experience with store associates has been good - the gentleman who spoke with me at the St. Louis location was kind and helpful (particularly for such an irregular customer!) I'm hoping to try Pini Parma based on several reviews and the fact that they have women's sizing suggestions on their site.
I appreciate this review and was cautious of these negatives. I went to the Suitsupply in Plano, Texas. I experienced none of these attitudes. I dealt with a young man, Mr Pullman. I was fortunate that I am a freakishly perfect fit for their 44L Lazio. I only needed the pants hemmed. I could have worn some of the slimmer versions but being 60 I wanted a more classic fit.
Long time viewer and reader before that. I use them fairly frequently and have for a few years. More recently I started getting custom/MTM stuff. All in NYC. I couldn't disagree more on customer service. They are great there. If anything ever happens to a garment or you dont like an alteration they take it right back and fix it or change it. They have done so for me over a year after purchase. They turn items around quickly and will ship it back to you for free. They are always attentive. I never feel pressured. The fabrics are great and cost for quality is unmatched. Obviously the quality could be better but for an 800-1000 dollar custom suit its great. I have thought about upgrading to higher level tailored pieces, but the customer service is what keeps me coming back.
New to this brand. Just purchased jackets, chinos, crew neck... it fits perfectly, I am very happy with my purchases. Purchased this stuff online and in their shop in Paris: nothing to complain about. I have purchased some Boggi stuff BTW: good quality, good showroom experience but their website kind of sucks.
I love suit supply suits and jackets. I have a 4 year old sienna suit that gets compliments every time I wear it. I wish the pants weren’t so tight though. Also, I’m a fit 6’2 215lbs, I wear a L at Jcrew or Todd Snyder but for knitwear I’m a xxl at Suit Supply. I also like that their looks change each season to keep the look from being stale.
Hey Brian, great video. I agree with all the cons. Especially that the pants have a lower rise for someone who is over 6 foot. The attitude of the sales team and the trend pushing has convinced me to gladly take my money elsewhere
I only have a shirt from them, I haven't bought any suits. I got it online and picked it up at the store, it fits great, although the fabric seems a little scratchy, and I haven't worn it yet, only tried it on. I found the employees rather nice and helpful, and I live in Miami! I went to the South Beach store.
My experience at the Boston store at least, I got very good help and advice from the employees, who were young down to earth and didn't try to upsell me. It may be that I was a young college student and the obnoxious associates didn't see me as a viable customer so the chill ones came to me. All else I have had a good experience so far.
Brian, very informative. My experiences at Suitupply, in San Francisco, had to beg for someone in order to make a purchase; in San Jose, was fine, but the styilist and I had very different taste I was wanted to look at shirts and ties for a party (which I mentioned), but was presented with looks more appropriate for applying for a mortgage. I went elsewhere for a shirt and tie.
@@hespokestyle Same experience in Hamburg, Germany. The staff and the overall experience (it was my first suitsupply suit) was very pleasant. I agree with you on the pants though. Somehow for me, they are either too tight or too wide
@Matt Hammond not if customers don't want to go in the store anymore. I personally don't like to go into places where your swarmed by salesman. Maybe other people are different
@@ee.es00 Then browse and buy Online. Salesperson are paid to welcome and assist you when you are in their workplace. You know sellers will follow you once you enter any shop, if not, you will complain that they didn't give a shit about your money. Personnally, I don't go see my hairdresser just to take a look and leave.
@hespokestyle If you haven't been to the Suit Supply in Las Vegas. I think you should visit there if you are ever in the area. Try to see Dan Smith there. I did and couldn't have had a better experience. Made me feel like I was spending much more money on a suit than I was. It was a really fun time. Hope you have the opportunity sometime.
I've had wonderful experiences at the SuitSupply shop in Toronto, and some decent service at the KOP mall location outside of Philadelphia. It's really too bad they stopped making the Washington cut, it was my personal favorite.
I was at Suit Supply in downtown Toronto too, helping a friend buy a blazer. They didn't seem too pushy on the alterations, but I don't know if that is a bad thing because you'd like your jacket to fit perfectly.
Been to both, Singapore one was great. Staffs in the Hong Kong one were somewhat pretentious to me ... arguably good service but with a very disingenuous attitude.
My experience with SuitSupply here in the Netherlands, where the brand was founded, is pretty much the same - especially the cons. I've never really enjoyed the showroom experience as staff seem to be much more focussed on selling you whatever they can, than helping you find what's best for you. And don't even get me started on the alterations - I've got relatively long arms compared to my upper body so I usually need to get the sleeves extended. They said that it wouldn't be a problem and that they'd take care of it. After waiting for three weeks to get the alterations done, the sleeves were still too short. I love how the suit looks and feels, but that just bugs me. Interestingly enough, I bought a suit back in Canada in September at Le 21Simons for only 400 CAD, and they made the alterations for free. It fits perfectly and overall was a much better experience than SuitSupply.
Ugh, sorry to hear that. Interestingly, most other commenters have applauded the EU or Asian showrooms as opposed to the American ones. So interesting to hear your experience. Thanks for sharing.
Great video & had to check it out given I'll be looking into purchasing my next suit and was strongly considering going back to Suit Supply. Fortunately, I had an overall great experience at their Dallas location. I ordered online but had the alterations completed at this location - spent a little extra but I felt the person who helped me really knew what they were doing with the recommendations they made to provide an overall great fit. They've recently opened a new location in Plano at Legacy West so fingers crossed everything goes well.
Funny, I had the opposite experience at the SF union square location, they were really helpful and the only alterations they recommended were length of pants and sleeves.
I've been to the Union Square location too and I have to agree with you. The only issue with them is that sometimes they seem to be understaffed. Otherwise I had an amazing experience in their San Francisco store
I worked at Harry Rosen for a few years and my old manager used to joke that if your drawing a Picasso on the back with chalk and needles and you need that many alterations done, its the wrong suit for you. Either buy another size/cut/brand or go Made to Measure. And i fully agree with the altering of pants at their stores. They tend to go overboard and go tight/skinny and SHORT. And sometimes the guys are a bit too pushy in how you're not fashion forward enough with how you want it tailored. This one sales guy in Toronto was pretty bad for that, wanting me to show mega ankle and i basically said 'dude this isn't Thom Browne, give me some break in the length' but the guys ive talked to in Seattle and the shop in Nordstrom in Vancouver were very much the opposite and a pleasure to deal with. BUT suitsuply is an AMAZING value. their suits are of the same quality of a suit you would buy at Rosen for 4 times the price with fabric by the same mill. Think about that.
Great review. I agree with your points especially the Pants. They never fit me properly and I don't normally have problem with any other brands' pants.
Great video Brian, I like your style. +one more negative, I entered a suit supply and got a creepy vibe and felt very uncomfortable. I asked for a blazer and found myself explaining what a blazer was. No one in the store could now me a blazer. Felt like the store was geared towards a super young and peacock type of demographic, which I am not knocking it is just not me. My favorite suit is a J Hilburn made to measure and I should just stick with that. I just cannot tell why many rave about suit supply.
Thanks, Brian! Great video! I really appreciate the honest opinions. What are your thoughts on SS’s construction quality? Who do you prefer in that price range if not SS?
You got it. It's really hard to think of something comparable. The jacket construction is quite good, IMO. Even my linen blazer has held up extremely well over the years and a solid amount of travel.
My biggest con with Suitsupply is not being able to mix and match with more of their suits offering. The pants are always big for me. Great video Brian!
I agree. The stillest sold me a suit that is not fit for my body type. I have big legs and wide shoulders and I had to do a lot of alterations. The other ones I bought needed just few alterations. You need to pick the line that fits your body the most because a suit at $500 that needs a lot of alterations will end up to be $650 or $700 vs buying the $700 one and spending $50 on basic alterations and also, better quality fabrics. Overall there suites are great for the money . Shirts and other products not a n the same level. For $100+ for shirts and ties your better of going with Paul Stewart, Canali or other Italian designers.
I had a really good experience in Suitsupply this weekend, though extra costs aren't really a problem for me. I was on Saville Row so was expecting so spend a lot of money, and in that context, Suitsupply was really "affordable". I went in on a whim but am glad I did.
I definitely agree with you when it comes to their staff not being friendly and accommodating. There is this negative vibe that I get when I go in their store. They kept on saying they have the best suit and shoes in the area. I mean those are glued construction shoes, definitely the lowest kind of quality. And their take on the no break pants length is on another level. Meaning it's way too short.
Interesting. Seems like most of the European commenters have had positive experiences, which was making me think it was more of an attitude in America.
I feel so fortunate that my experience at their San Jose, CA location was pleasant, and the staff there were not at all like how Brian describes. I guess it's the exception rather than the rule, though. :/ And I totally agree about the pants.
