As an FSU grad from the early 90's, you summed Tally up - a lot of kids move there every year with no discipline or experience and do not do well. Still, Tally is, was and will continue to be a great city despite the crime, partying and job market. Well done vlog.
RE: the Capitol Building. The tall building behind the old Capital is now the Capitol building. When it was being built, local citizens were up in arms about its design. The original plan was to tear down the old Capitol, but locals had t-shirts made that showed the new Capitol broken in half and reading "Tear Down the New Capitol!" As a compromise, the state decided to save the old Capitol and turn it into a museum. And yes the tall Capitol building is ugly as sin, but the view from the 22nd floor is awesome. Right now the hot place to be for young professionals to live is an old neighborhood of small 1940's era houses known as Mid Town. This area is north of the downtown along the Bronough/Duval corridor and north of 4th Avenue.
I lived here for too long! Housing prices are insane, but if you can put up with the 70k student population and the humid summer weather it isn't terrible.
And students are definitely from "everywhere" , NY, MIAMI, CALI, GEORGIA, LOL. a lot from South Florida!! BECAUSE FSU is the best school in the STATE! Go Seminoles
Speaking of college towns, you need to head to Athens Georgia and check that out. Usually is on every top 5 lists of best college towns in America, plus several bands got there start there.
Do you prefer Tallahassee or Pensacola? Compared to Auburn, yeah, this place looks more like a party town, and it’s more ghetto. Looks a lot like Montgomery in some ways. Looks like the worst hoods are along Monroe and Adams Streets south of downtown. I’ve driven through there and it looked rough. Lots of homeless people begging for money and abandoned buildings and bars on windows. One time I stopped at an exit off the interstate somewhere in Tallahassee, and that exit looked pretty run down.
Yeah auburn might be smaller but its cleaner and safer. Honestly, i like pensacola cuz its Probally safer and more quiet. We drove for 12 hours today making videos for even having to look at a lazy beggar is aggravating. So pcola. Its got beaches. Cleaner and safer. I cant stand my own generation and capitol city is full of us
Young Pensacola native here looking to move to Tallahassee (not for school) unless you are retired or have alot of experience in a high demand career like Engineering or Dentistry then you're really going to struggle finding a job that pays the bills. Our "Lower cost of living" doesn't mean much when the majority of people here work Retail and restaurant jobs and you're not finding one that has benefits, let's you work full-time (with overtime opportunity) AND pays more than $16/hour.
If you had to pick your favorite or best and least favorite or worst city in The Florida Panhandle west of the Apalachicola River and Alabama south of Montgomery and all that, what would those be?
Speaking of which, I’m surprised Defuniak wasn’t on the best list, but I’m cool with Milton, because I haven’t been there, but from what I’ve seen it looks really nice and it’s in close proximity to some really great places. Lots of rv resorts and campgrounds in that county (Santa Rosa), north of the river, which is where Milton is. They also have a huge state forest there too. Seems like a really good place if you like nature. And OF COURSE Eufaula would be on the best list. I mean, it’s beautiful, friendly, and abundant with things to do. MSN called it one of the best small towns in the entire US for a reason. One of my favorite places.
Ok so I got a question , I'm from Massachusetts I did however live in florida for 5 months in the Rosemary area of Bonita springs, so I would never live in florida on a permanent basis because the hospitals suck in florida I'd like to just do the snow Bird thing but on a budget I know right it sounds ridiculous but that's what I'm thinking about doing maybe but in a reputable area but not pricey can you give me some suggestions?
Rosemary is the HOOD in bonita LOL ~ congrats on living there! LOL - Bonita has become INSANE on prices with every passing day. Why are hospitals so important to you are you always sick? If you are than i totally understand. MA does have the best doctors no doubt. one saved my dads life after one from FL almost killed him. not even sure what to tell you.. cuz prices are wild. SANTA ROSA county is cheaper but its not as lively as bonita. totally respect that you lived in rosemary LOL - STUART FL is kinda like bonita. check out venice?
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS well I hypothyroidism and need to have blood work done every 6 months and make sure my levothyroxine is what it's supposed to be not too high and not too low , how is your dad BTW is he doing better I hope .
Panhandlers are more aggressive on that side of town and more car burglaries too. I'm too old to find the fun in Tallahassee. I have to go to boring civic and artsy things. Zzzzzzzzz. I like the restaurants but they don't have enough people working at 'em right now to be nice. Sad to say It's also kinda rapey here. Girls got to watch their backs. Speaking of work trucks I watched a guy ( in a sweet new sports car ) do something odd. Dude was in a crisp office shirt and he went over to the work truck and look in for something to take I guess. I was stuck in a drive thru line and couldn't even hollah. And IMO the police department in this town don't give a flying flip any way about small crime like that. Sherriffs do though!
Im from Tallahassee. And you show nothing of trying to know anyone or really show you know. Stick to keep driving. We good here and you get it how you live. Good everything though im a gator. #Tally born and raised and bred. #Go to church if you scared
No Tallahassee it's not for me I learned something about Tallahassee that I didn't know thanks Katie and Joseph never been there but I think I want to go 🌴🤙🏼🐸
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Tally has had 20 shootings just this year so far. Def. not a safe place, of course, there are safe neighborhoods that are far away from Tennessee Street, South Monroe, and the like - smart people just don't live or go near there :) The worse areas are near FSU - like Frenchtown...
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS It was the security guard btw -A security guard for nationally known rapper Kodak Black was shot early Monday morning in the parking lot of a Tallahassee McDonald's by individuals in a car, who police say were following him and his entourage before opening fire.
