Is the 2023 Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 RS a BETTER sports car than a C8 Corvette Z06?

Power window mechanisms weigh roughly 20% of their manual counterparts. Power windows=weight savings. The RS also gets lighter windows.

Back in the mid eighties, my friend painted his 1976 Camaro in Guards Red. It looked great. It only had a 305 CID but with a 4 barrel carb and duel exhaust it was fun. Thanks for the video!

It likely is a better sports racing car than a C8 Zo6. But a lesser daily driver. Might as well get rid of the stereo and save a pound, can't hear it anyway. Love how Joe is going to the towel mid-drive. 🤣That's pure driving joy (that laugh was bordering maniacal there at the end) ! Just get the 4.0 GTS with the six speed, that's the "right answer".

Amazing amazing amazing car ! The details are off the charts but for me not having a manual kills it especially for $239k. I know this is where these high end cars are going but for that money a manual option would be great.

A couple of extra zonks... Add the magnesium wheels, carbon buckets, and upgrade to the ceramic brakes. If you're going to buy a GT4RS, why go cheap?

This is a nice beast. On throttle sounded like you had a lot of fun behind the steering wheel. PS: the left position of the starter is a urban legend by explaining it is because it is faster to start the car while engaging a gear. The real story is that in the very first Porsche model, the wires and starter system had no choice to go by the left hand side of the car. So that was just due to constraints and space available.

Note on the (awesome) Le Mans homage of the left-hand ignition - it was done that way because the rules stated the car had to be turned off and in neutral at the start. The driver could save precious time by having his right hand free to shift into first while the engine turned over.

I love both the gt4 rs and the z06, but I’d still choose the Porsche, that is if I could afford it, I’d even choose the cayenne turbo gt over the z06.

I've been cross shopping the Boxster which is similar to the Cayman, and the Corvette. After getting to the core of what I really want I decided to go with the Boxster due to the weight and having a manual. I know that the Corvette would be faster overall but I drive country back roads not on the track. I even decided to go with the 981 Spyder vs the 718 Spyder due to the weight. It's much easier to add power than to reduce weight and I can feel the weight difference on the types of roads I drive. The Corvette is a great vehicle and I'd love to buy American, but I really wish they kept the weight down and kept a manual - I know that gets harder and harder with regulations requiring so much, but cars also don't need to be so big in my opinion. Although I love that Chevy is able to keep the price down, I'm guessing that contributes to the weight as well - I guess we can't have everything.

Like the carbon fiber hood, just from the side a bit too much black. Side scoop and door handles could be color matched. You know anything about all those rubber marks on the street ?😂

A worthy zonk! Instead of making the window triangle carbon fiber, Porsche should have done the fender louvers carbon fiber and left the triangle plastic. I’ll still take this over a C8 Z06.
