Beardbrand sells a sample packet of each scent, so I've had a chance to smell them all. I'm not an expert on scent, but I definitely can tell you what each reminds me of. White Line - Lumber Yard smells like pencil shavings (but in a good way?); Stone Mason smells like old library books (if you've ever used Harrys aftershave balm, it smells like that). Silver Line - Spiced Citrus smells like spiced hot apple cider at Christmas; Tree Ranger smells like pine trees; Tea Tree smells like how white tic-tacs taste (if that makes sense). Gold Line - Old money smells a little bit like Old Spice cologne; Four Vices contains Coffee, Tobacco, Cannabis, Hops and I can actually smell each one; Temple Smoke smells like the incense that burns during many church services and it contains Oud - which I really like. None of them are bad in my opinion, but the scent that I like the most is Temple Smoke...easily. I bought mine at $40 and loved it...now that it has dropped to $29 I'll be buying it again for sure! I think it's important to also note that Beardbrand also makes beard shampoos and conditioners as well as other grooming products in many of the same scents so you aren't mixing different scents from other products. Oh, one last thing...at Target there is one other White Line scent called "Blank Slate" and it is a fragrance-free oil so you can use it without conflicting with your other products or colognes. Hope this helps you guys out.
Appreciate you always keeping it real. Beard Brand is exactly that- Brand name beard products. Its like buying Chanel, or Dior or Ysl of the beard lane. Would be great to see alternatives head to head in the gold line tho...
glycerin is used for all sorts of applications. I'm almost positive beardbrand is using it as a water based lubricant for skin moisturizing. It's misleading to say its the main ingredient for vape juice
I tried some oil and balm as I started growing, thought Beardbrand was too expensive. Decided to give it a shot with Tea Tree Oil and Utility Balm, Tree Ranger Shampoo and Conditioner and it's incredible! Four Vices Oil and Utility Balm on it's way.
Just bought my first jar of Detroit Corktown butter after watching your other videos. All I can say is wow coming from off the shelf stuff cremo and every man jack. This stuff feels and smells great.
Well personally if your going with beard brand you go with the utility balm/butter i love it..I have tried all the scents silver and gold and gold is where it’s at they’re unique scents I use old money smells like lemon and leather kind of and temple smoke is really nice too. The feel in beard is perfect and hold and keeps my beard soft I also use fresh beards butter soo it’s something I would compare it too but in all honesty it is pricy but try the utility balm gold line scents if you can afford it
The day has finally come... I posted about a year ago that Beardbrand will have to do a price adjustment in order to stay relevant. They finally woke up. But even with the price corrections, I'll pass on buying their stuff. And customer service isn't really much of a selling point in this market because so many companies do so well with it
My whole thing is, why would I pay $29 for the same oils I can get for $9 at a different company. Thats why I buy from a lot of places like JC Grooming when they have sales and discounts. I use Broke A** and just ordered from Fable house they were having a BOGO sale.
Beardbrand introduced me to beard grooming, which i thank them for. At the time i loved their products but i didn't know too much about the alternatives until they pulled out of Europe. After researching for alternatives and stumbling across youtube channels like this one i realised that there are better and cheaper alternatives. I still love their gold line, however i now have no to reason to purchase Beardbrand products after discovering some great local UK brands (twisted moustache, the brighton beard company etc).
Mikey T , Thank you, I was not aware of the 2 companies you mentioned from the UK. In Europe it is not easy to find decent products at reasonable prices. Yes, Beardbrand prices are over the top, Europe was not a market for them. I have made an order at Brighton Beard Company to find out their quality, next order will be at Twisted Moustache.
So listen just so you know when your doing different scents , just smell coffee beans to clear out your nose so you can smell different things , or in a pinch smell instant coffee , trust me it works go to a perfume store and they'll have bowls of coffee beans for you to smell . Just try it it works . Keep up the videos great honest info just love the vibe you have .
@@AJCoReTV No worries. New to the beard game and just trying to sift through all the different scents out there is a bit much. Thought I'd ask to narrow it down. Thanks for response.
@@bk6555 The Bearded Bastard has Opium Den, Beard Octane has Liquid Gold and I know Bearded Fox has an oud scent as well. Many of the companies have been jumping on the oud band wagon it seems. It's a nice scent
Thanks scuba. I’ve always wanted an opinion. I haven’t bought just cuz I have purchased other brands that are cheaper with better oils. I usually buy my husbands beard products.... I love your honest opinion and views.
I just want to say thanks for the great content. As someone who just found your channel and has been growing a beard for about a year, all of your videos have given me great info. I'm curious if you have ever tried the Gibs beard oil and thoughts on it. You can find it on Amazon only so far.
Great video bro. I love the breakdown and the points. I’ve been using the old tree ranger I’ve had for over 3 years now. Just pulled it out the other day. Love the medicinal type smell it has, maybe fight that Covid-19 lol. Antiseptic, antibiotic type smell. I think that’s the tea tree I’m referring to. Of course I’m no scientist lol. Keep up the good work bro. Thanks for the shout out 🍻👊🏽💯
I have been getting my beard oil from a Amish family who lives next to me for years. I even by the beard soap and I couldn't ask for any better product. I have never tried any other beard oil. Great video by the way, I have heard great things on beard brand and of course I've heard negative things as well like anything else.
Scuba is always A1 wit the shits, so idk why anybody would come at you for any review you do, cause you got reviews from the cheapest to the most expensive shit that has to do with beard, keep up the great work big dawg 🤝
Funny, I’m using Beard Brands beard wash and beard softer, and I was also getting that tacky texture after use, not soft like you would expect from a ‘softener’. Wonder if you’ve ever used them and what you think of them?
Hey man, you should totally put out your own beard oil and balm. I would definitely buy some because I know you'd use quality stuff and sell it at a fair price.
Not related to Beardbrand: just got my Artius Man samples in the mail yesterday, and they smell and feel great. Wouldn't know about that company if not for you and your channel Sir BeardTube.
Same here. Love them. Just got some Beard and Mustache wax from them. One unscented and one with the Mountain Air. Great prices and wow love the scents.
The old formula of Old money definitely had a smell of old money, with a mix of like the scent of holistic grocery store(I know great description). Temple smoke smells like it sounds. 4 vices use to smell like carmex mixed with a cigar box. The new formula 4 vices, I mainly smell tobacco, coffee, and a mix of like incense. They all smell good to me. 4 vices is my favorite. I need to try the new formula for old money.
Scuba, thank you for that my Friend. To be honest with you after your post of how to make beard butter and beard oil I would not buy another commercially made of either. The only exception would be Honest Amish as their stuff to me is totally unique and of such a high quality.
Glycerin is a humectant, a type of moisturizing agent that pulls water into the outer layer of your skin from deeper levels of your skin and the air. In skin care products, glycerin is commonly used with occlusives, another type of moisturizing agent, to trap the moisture that it draws into the skin
A while back you advised how beard butter is the best for your beard and how body butter is similar to beard butter. I took that advice and bought the The Soap Exchange brand, sandalwood/vanilla scent you recommended. Yeah, that's MY personal gold line product. The scent hangs out all day, is subtle, and smells fantastic! Also, my beard no longer looks like a bird nest. The ingredients for this body butter are as pure as it gets too. I'm sure Beard Brand is great, but I found what works for me. Sure it's good to have a variety of scents, I'm working on that. But I started out with a solid foundation.
For the most part, I love their youtube channel. As far as beard products go, I'll stay with my fav GBS. The products are great. The art is great. Pricing is great. I generally get my order within 3 days. I don't believe in paying for "premium" when it does the same thing. It's my personal choice and I don't criticize anyone for their choice.
Completely off topic, but do you have/recommend any affordable straight razors for beginners ?? I’ve been trying to look for one but I’m not sure which to jump at.
I started with Beardbrand and Dreambeard oil years and noticed BBS prices going up and just switched to grave before shave and stick with it (too many brands out and most use the same ingredients anyway). BB is just charging you for the bottle now smh.
I completely quit using all manufactured beard oils, a friend told me about coconut oil so i tried it and i love it, it works great for me and one bottle will last several years for less money than one bottle of beard brand oil and many other oils out there, great video 👍. ( edited because of typo).
I’m someone that deals a lot in packaging and advertising and I’m here to tell that type of packaging the boxes and the bottles is EXTREMELY expensive like multiple dollars per unit. Insane they’re doing that in my opinion adds way too much cost
Tried Lumber Yard once. Cracked open the bottle, took a whiff, and damn near fell asleep it was so boring. I could get that scent by reaching into my shop vac and pulling out a fistful of sawdust.
At the end of the day, Temple Smoke is my girlfriend's favorite scent, so I keep an oil and utility balm in it. They have fantastic customer service. They've sent me more free stuff than stuff I've paid for, so I've always felt like I got my value back from them.
Nick Byrd wow! I’ll prob stop buying from them now. They never give me anything extra in my orders. So random that some people get lucky & others not so much? Thx for sharing this info.
So glad you mentioned the importance of cold-pressed oil. We only use cold-pressed ingredients in our products because it's the only way to ensure the health and quality of what we're putting on out bodies.
Try getting some supplies from Zeus beard. They have some different options to choose from - like organic or refined. Their sandalwood is probably a staple scent. Lots like the Verbena lime but I'd like to get your opinion on the company and the product. Would be good for content as well.
I recommend their utility balm and styling balm as far as UK goes they are unique products. Can’t find anything close to them since they stopped selling here.
I am not a huge fan of any of the Beardbrand scents at all, but I love what their Utility Balm does to my beard and skin. I never use their oils only the balm. Unfortunately they dropped out of Europe a while ago and I am running out of Balm :( (I bought for 400$ worth of Balm and conditioner when I heard they were pulling out of Europe)
I love beardbrand scents. Most other companies smell like they put their products together in their sink with some essential oils and materials from their local Whole Foods. I got some samples from Artius Man and the mountain air scent literally smells like Colgate toothpaste. I’m a big fan of Detroit grooming’s scents as well, but so far it’s mainly DG and Beardbrand where their scents stand out as solid and more than just running a shop out of their basement. Honest Amish is classic and simple. To each their own though. What are your favorite scents?
Someone gave me a trial thing of this origins frothy face wash and I was thinking it has a weird effect on how it feels compared to other soaps and I was thinking it was kinda like how you were describing it here where it makes my face feel not slick and sure enough, it has glycerin in it as the 4th ingredient, so good to know that's what it is.
Old money, based on the "sample scents" makes me think of talcum powder and leather with a touch of bergamot. Temple Some is my favorite too and makes me think of kinda incense after the smoke clears. Tea tree makes me almost think of a scoop of chocolate mint chip ice cream fresh from the ice cream parlor with the additional eucalyptus and tea tree smell. Spiced citrus gives me the kinda fake orange smell with notes of mulling spice. Four vices makes me think more of leather along with chocolate and tobacco and a hint of cannabis. Tree ranger is kinda a more woodsy version of tea tree.
GLYCERINE, its seems to be mostly a positive ingredient for skin from what ive read online, when it combination with other ingredients ofc not just by itself
Since I started using royal beardsmen there’s no turning back and zero reasons to try the next “best” thing because they are the best! Period and the smell omg, kingsmen catchy name great smells but I don’t know those ingredients vs royal beardsmen all natural!
Scuba is it a little weird that I think you have the look of a blob fish but with a nice beard? Also I really like your report I like how you didn’t get paid to do this like everybody else that does a beard brand review. Beard beard gets into the psyche of everybody else.
Is good customer service even a relevant point anymore? Shouldn't that just be a standard these days? I mean, if that their best pro, that's not a good thing. There are so many beard companies with better products for half the price. Beardbrand seems to be turning into a cult.
I agree that it should be standard, but in a lot of industries, customer service doesn't matter like it should. With that said, I agree that beard companies are generally very, very good.
Had to google why they put glycerin and beard oil was curious. This is what goggle said. Often used in numerous skin and hair care products for its hydrating properties. Glycerin attracts moisture, that is the job it performs. It also helps move that moisture from one place to another. ... It also taints their opinion of all beard oils as they are unaware that better oils exist that do not use glycerin
