Avenger is one of my favorite synths. It's very versatile, fun to program with and has tons of great presets. It reminds me of Nexus, if it wasn't purely sample based. In this video, I go through the new upgrade to Avenger 2. I run through most of the new features (not all) and give my first impressions on it while messing around and making some patches.
Three things that I didn't cover:
1. There is now audio previews for presets (like Nexus)
2. The Drum Loop module (I talk about that at the end)
3. The new presets (my factory library wasn't loading) (I'm still working on that and got an email from support so hopefully will have that running soon)

I see what you mean about the "Band in the box" feeling you can get from this type plugin especially if all out sound design is what you want from this. For me though, this is great for us preset composers making production cues with no real interest in sound designing patches. I can manipulate the presets and make them my own to the point of them being totally unrecognizable but without actually going down the rabbit hole of getting into sound design. Perfect for writing library production music or music for TV or trailers without spending too much time making sounds. I think they were aiming to tap into both worlds without making the plugin totally out of reach money wise.

Well said. I think that's totally correct. To me it's like a more modular and customizable Nexus in a way. If you DO want to sound design with it, you can. But if you just want great sounds and to tweak from there, great. I find myself doing both.

Great demonstration / video edits and cool to see your sound design approach. I agree with the pros / cons, update wasn't life changing but the audio previews are convenient and Generative 1 is my favorite expansion to date. What are your Top 5 synths?

Hey thanks a ton for that great feedback 🥲🙏I def wanna check out some of the new packs for sure! Thanks for the hint on Gen 1. And I agree on the previews 🤘 forgot to mention those. Finally got my Factory 2 library up and running thanks to the support email so I’m gonna be diving into those properly. So props on them for great response on that. My current top 5 would be prob pretty standard in alphabetical order: Avenger, Diva, Omnisphere, Phase Plant, Serum. But I’d have to include the entire Roland Cloud in there even though it’s not one synth just because of the amount I use them all.

Much appreciated! With your line up of EXP's and sound design chops Gen 1 might be redundant. Glad they could give direct support, a lot better than navigating their FB (tech support central). I'll definitely check out the Roland Cloud / Phase Plant...stuff of legends 🙏

I 'm also new to Avenger and I've just stepped over to BitWig. I still love Ableton. I also feel like modulation now happens in the DAW. At least you can keep track of all parts that are modulated.

There's a "Global" button just above the piano keys filter. When clicking this, it will affect note filters on all the oscillators.

@@nicostadi Also if you hate activating the note quantize on each osc, simply map them to a modulation to trigger on/off for all. Sucks that you can't map the Arp on/off though.

there called Workstations, korg and roland and Yamaha have the hardware versions, for those people in bar bands and covers bands. I think they have a lot of the 1 finger playing presents for all the people that suddenly come back from Coachella or Tomorrowland and assume they can be an edm producer overnight,

There's a reason why you can Initialize everything and start with a blank canvas. It's a creative tool . Regards the sequences that come with it . They're just a starting point that can be edited and reprogrammed to something completely different. Avenger is a beast .

Totallyyy. And yeah I guess you could categorize it as a "workstation", but it's def not market like that. It's marketed more like serum etc IMO. I don't care if the synth has 10,000 player piano EDM presets heh, as long as those are then also backed up by at least an equal amount of regular presets. My gripe with the new update is that it's pretty thin on the regular ones.

And I don't care if there are a million one finger jams on it or demo tracks, as long as it comes with a half decent amount of regular presets, which the new update kinda falls short on. That's my gripe about the presets on this new update specifically.

@@nicostadi your totally right. Like most things the first few presets they go way overboard and then you have to see if the product within is usable in its simplest form. I have serum and sylenth but I do like some of the tones this comes out with . Just would never use the kareoke setting of one button backing tracks haha

Sorry just saw this. The key of the arpeggio sequencer? I think you might be talking about the quantize function.

This synth is not top 5. It is top 1, maybe co-king with phase plant (when in version platinium). Then come Falcon, Serum, Spire, Hive, Diva, Dune, Current, Twin, Pigments, all awesome synths. But if there was only one. It would be between phase plant and Avenger.
