Having the two holes for the spinners being different distances from the edge would drive me nuts. I also agree that getting away from Scott's designs defeats the point. It's one thing to make it a bit cleaner, but changing things changes the whole concept of the product.

Another fine example of prime Wyrmlyfe content. A conflict is happening with funny edits and not only is there resolution, but a class in how to own up to being too hotheaded in a professional environment. I approve these guys getting raises.

Yeah - but they didn’t resolve the issue did they? They solved the single design of one object. All the underlying organizational problems are still right there. They actually resolved nothing with regards to that.

@@davidmuzia814 I would present this case as to why they still have the ability to innovate. Because their management structures are, as Doug put it, "loosey goosey," innovation can come from anywhere. The drawback is as has been mentioned: more conflict, less streamlining, and a mess of responsibility ownership.

To me, this feels like the circus act where 3 tumblers are jumping around to spin 21 plates on poles before they fall, but they forgot to rehearse the act so are doing the best they can. The discussion of what is "Final" was important. It may seem small, but how each discipline (media, laser, engineer, etc) understands the terms used can affect the project.

Personally I'm far more interested in the original Paladin woodworking product. A lot of these changes were made without clear goals in mind for the changes, resulting in seemingly a lot of disconnect within the product itself, let alone the disconnect between who is actually leading the project. This might be a situation where it might be easier to jump back to square one where seemingly the product was near a ready to produce state already.

Yup, I thought the entire point of the collaboration was to bring Paladin Woodworking's designs into a mass-production scale value for consumers. But we are heading in the direction of a lower quality imitation of Scott's vison.

For a minute there I thought Bobby was reverting to his old ways at the beginning of that argument but by the end of it, he turned it around with a humble and logical solution good job Bobby! I think the main issue here was just no communication. I'd recommend the next time you have a product team working on something and you want to inject a new member that isn't just a grunt work job, have a meeting about it with that employee and all heads of that project so everyone is clear on their responsibilities to avoid future scenarios like this.

I'm filing this under the Bobby character development arc haha. Bobby's project lead, he has to roll with the punches and lead. I'm thinking he subconsciously balked at directing Jason, which lead to a breakdown in communications.While Jason just wanted clear directions from the project lead. Jason just looms too large in Bobby's head that even when he gives general opinions or grumbles, Bobby takes it way too seriously. And Jason's nature is to grumble XD I'm glad it turned around in the end and Bobby stepped up and lead. You could see the frustration washing off of Jason once that happened.

I would say good on you guys to have a civil conversation about the concerns each of you have and work though the issues to nail down what the real problems are and how approach them, without letting egos in the way. This is how coworkers, and people in general, should work together.

Bobby's more charisma than nose, that's for sure. His aesthetic sense on the outside of Jason's/Anon!Designer's detailed vision keeps the balance in the consumer's corner. Every company needs a balance between practical production concerns and aesthetic consumer enjoyment. Form and function

Wasn't Bobby the one that asked for the redesign? Saying that there was way too much art on them and wanting to change them because they "weren't like Wyrmwood?" I could be mistaken but it seems like he's pushing back against something that he himself set in motion. And now we're blaming Jason for being too involved and Doug for sending someone to sort out that problem?

In earlier episode Bobby was arguing both sides, didn't know whether to redesign or not, or to which degree. But that seemed mostly a discussion on artwork. Now the geometry is changed, placement of dials and magnets have changed, branding is in the process of being changed. While we haven't seen that process happen on camera, from what we're told in this episode the former two was Brent's doing, the last one was Doug. Bobby isn't blaming Jason for that, Jason seems to be blaming Jason for that. Bobby seems to be blaming Doug for inserting Jason as lead in an unclear way, and blaming Jason for being hopeless. The entirety of this episode until 7:52 is about miscommunication and lack of structure. As we see, as soon as Bobby gets over the rank differential and takes charge, Jason calms way down.

@@lucasbune Yes, Bobby was arguing both sides but he ultimately asked for changes. He directly asked the Paladin guy if they were comfortable completing those changes before March. That's the only reason why someone is even bothering to make new artwork. Bobby is literally the only person shown requesting artwork changes. Also, the artwork and geometry are connected. You can't just swap art without having to move everything. That's why the geometry moved. And Jason's only problem is that the geometry will break the pieces. Lasers are pretty simple but they're more than just copy paste. Yes, Jason is blaming himself, but that's because he's humble. Bobby is also blaming himself because, honestly, they all are. They're all super awesome genuinely nice guys. I just think that Bobby has a few, easily manageable, problems with his organization and leadership. I don't think he realizes the full-time scale and effort of the suggestions he makes.

@@VagabondTE You say that "You can't just swap art without having to move everything" but you literally could. Art could be made to fit the existing geometry, doesn't have to be the other way around. Making new art while fiddling with the geometry is easier than not, but that's a decision someone made, and again we didn't see who made it. The rest i agree with, if not in detail then in large strokes.

It's pretty clear there are still problems with organization. I know they've gotten way better with organization with Monday, but management still seems to be a problem. That said, the concerns that were voiced when Doug was CEO are likely still there in a form or fashion. If they don't get the top sorted out and put some guidelines in place between positions, it will continue to be problematic for the leadership team and employees.

first of all - I love your stuff - honestly! keep doing your thing :) maybe as feedback: I'm still waiting for the good old extra after the outro currently, I'm not quite sure why I'm waiting at all quite cute to write subscribe in the dust but every time that kinda thing? It is just a guess but those watching till the end further than the outro music thing are probably not the ones not having subscribed yet I know that it is not fair but I'm just used to something better and I want that back :) you guys made it so easy to get disappointed by setting the bar that high :P Again good job especially with the storylines I love it! They’re really spinning the tires on this one. I think they should either just let Paladin do the design and they do the manufacture and call it like Paladin by Wyrmwood with separate logos, or pay Paladin for the idea and create Wyrmwood trackers that work with Wyrmwood products and match. I mean what they really should do is scrap this and do the DM screen that would be waaaaaaaay more successful than they can imagine. Also Bobby doesn’t get enough credit. He sells the crap out of everything. I didn’t need candles. I watched his video bought candles. Hadn’t thought of Tarot in years. He sold me a Tarot deck. Just the energy he brings is fantastic.

I still can't get over how on the video where they planned upcomming kickstarters they started off saying how the DM screen is the most requested project and then immediately followed with "Nah that's too complicated, lets do another dice campaign instead". How they think a massive modular gaming table system with accessories is fine but a DM screen will be too complex just boggles my mind.

I think that could be quite interesting since for example I don‘t play any roleplay or board games at all, I watch your videos because I like to see the brand and the business evolve and I also love the machinery and woodworking’s. You all have so distinct characters and I just like to watch your personas in the discussions you have and what impact that might have on the business. Absolutely love your videos keep it up! really just incredible interpersonal skills on display from bobby there, you could tell he came in and was set back on his heels initially by Jason but then he did all the things just like he should have, 1) validated Jason position and experience and frustration while encouraging him and making sure that Jason knew that Bobby trusted him 2) Bobby stood his ground on where his position was as far as what he had brought up before in the meeting AND 3) Bobby provided a clear course of action as to how to move forwards as well as keeping his own head about him and continuing to bolster the people below him (Brandt) just 10/10 Bobby needs a gold star for that

I don't get redesigning the items, other than a little wiggle room for production/assembly speed. The whole point of wanting to use a premade design is to cut out a bunch of R&D and design steps.

I think Bobby was too upset. Even if Jason stepped into this project in a weird way he found issues Bobby hadn't addressed yet (designs are too detailed and stuff to close to the edge) and probably helped the project out big time. So not sure why Bobby is all "what's the question?" when getting valid input.

I trust that if Scott, the creator of these counters, is communicating with Brandt (spelling?), the person designing changes, then there are no issues with this still being a Wyrmwood x Paladin project. So long as he is still being looped in on his products and is responding with feedback, they have not fully shifted away from being "his" designs/products.

I think Bobby has great ideas. On another topic, "definition of ready" and "definition of done" are the types of things that come out of a team agreement meeting. The project team gets together so that all parties can have their say, and you walk out with everyone understanding what the word 'final' means to everyone else.

The thing i don't understand and what they stated before Wyrmwood is just the manufacturer, the moment they started changing or request changes on Scott's designs that lets face it, laser engraving is laser engraving, it loses what Scott put into it when they dumb down the designs, then Wyrmwood wants to potentially and prominently put their logo in the product instead of putting it on the back or out of main sight. I just feel Scott got screwed by just getting a "design" fee for the work of creating, and making the originals. Wyrmwood should only charge for the time spent on manufacturing, assembling and cost of materials and Scott should get the lion share of the profit.

Personally i preferred the original Paladin Designs over these wyrmwood redesigns, i was hoping for wyrmwood to just produce the products that paladin had already designed. If the designs can revert back closer to the paladin art/style then I will try and buy one of each of them. It would be nice to hear how scott feels about all of this in a wyrmlife episode.

Why not just use a master press block with magnets and metal backing, so ye can just swipe into a magnet bucket essentially (should auto align by magnetic poles). Adjust and final check, and press em in with the clicker.

Yeah...it sounds like there's a miscommunication. It also sounds like Jason is feeling the pressure. He has a new baby at home so sleep and he are not friends right now. Take a pause. Better to step back, take a breath, and come at it fresh. Also, one of the differences between an artist and an engineer is that to an engineer, good enough is perfect. It works...build it. An artist will sweat and slave and bleed over the tiniest detail and shit may NEVER get done.
