Sony CRF 160 double conversion vintage short wave/mw/lw//fm radio.
This my Sony CRF160 13-band conversion set - boxed, complete with its front cover and battery tubes, in full working condition, almost pristine, original mains lead (4 pin), original instruction manual with Sony short wave guide. It really is the Rolls Royce of radios (unless you know a better one...)
You can buy collectables from my ebay shop:

Hello...I would like to ask, in your experience and opinion what is the strongest and widest long range digital transistor radio? Thank you

Do you mean digital display? Or DAB? DAB radios are not really suitable for long-distance listening (DX-ing) as in the UK digital transmission blocks operate on limited number of frequencies and so installing a rooftop aerial can actually cause interference problems. If you mean analogue with a digital display, then the Tecsun range is well regarded. Thank you for visiting my channel.

Hi, I have the same model, unfortunately without the power cord. It seems to be still working 100% as there is still charge in the batteries. Looking for a replacement power lead but can't seem to find one anywhere, don't suppose anyone knows anywhere I can get one?

Hi Jay. You're right, these leads are as rare as hens' teeth (and command expectedly high prices). Stupidly, since I made the video I sold a basic Sony mono radio cassette on eBay that took the same mains lead, but didn't have one. The mistake I made in the listing was that the mono machine would come 'complete with mains lead'. Naturally, the machine sold straight away, probably because of the included (non-existent) mains lead, which would've been worth far more than the slightly battered radio cassette. In hindsight, I should have refunded the buyer and not sent it out. Instead, I nicked the Sony CRF160's mains lead and supplied that with the machine, not knowing at the time how difficult it would be to source a replacement. It had slowly dawned on me that I had just 'given away' a very rare lead and so I sought to get an identical one back for the CRF-160 in the above video. So I did a search on-line, and this site came up: www.oaktreevintage.com/Sony_AC_Cable_Replacement.htm As you will see, it lists all Sony models that use this 4-pin rarity. It was then just a case of setting up many eBay searches, with email notifications, for each of the models on this list (! ) Eventually, eBay emailed me with the listing for a battered TC-80, advertised for local collection only, 22 miles away. I messaged the seller to make sure the mains lead was included in the sale (it wasn't pictured, but he said it was!). Drove the short distance, knocked on the front door, gave him his fiver (£5 note, for those not in the UK!) and he handed over the worn-out machine - and the lead. I sold the machine for spares at my next car boot (yard) sale for £3.00 - and my CRF-160 now has its correct lead (not the original of course, though no-one would know!). Good luck with your search. And go for the cheaper models first - the reel-to-reels will not be worth buying, even to sell on.

Maybe? But your video hasn’t really convinced me. Especially given the fact that you don’t identify the model (I certainly can see that it’s a Sony). Given RU-vid’s rather high compression, well, audio quality is difficult to fully appreciate. The noise in the band switching is horrendous. Sensitivity seems decent. I love Sony as a brand. But “best transistor radio ever”? Hyperbole, for sure. Try a Panasonic RF-2200, you may quickly change your mind.

Much prefer my old Roberts RM 40, the Sony is good receiver but audio quality is just rubbish compared to the Roberts.
