She is one beautiful research vessel. All that money going to a good use, instead of greed and bragging rights. Which i guess is why she won't be classed as the biggest super yacht, being a research vessel. The video was beautiful as well. The intro was majestic ! Well Done.

The vessel’s owner, Kjell Inge Røkke, made his money from oil exploration and support. He served time in prison for corruption so perhaps he has had time to reflect on how he could invest his money in good causes.

Beautiful music absolutely beautiful. Your voice has an electrifying mysterious tone to this video. I would love to see ship tours and interviews with the crew on research ships like this in the future. I really do like some of the research ships out there just as much as the Superyachts. Be an interesting mix on the channel. Well. When the world is done ending that is. Love the channels.

Absolutely awesome. I wish more super wealthy would do ships like this. I'm an avid documentary watcher especially when it comes to the oceans. Jacques Cousteau was big in my house and I hope ships like this will make more researchers just like him.

Have you heard of Fulk Al Salamah? It's classified as a support vessel for Al Said, but I've seen two different lengths for it. One being 150 meters and the other 164 meters. But is GT is said to be 20,000+. I saw info on REV where its GT was 21,000. BTW Al Said is 155 meters. My question is about the length of Fulk Al Salamah.

Fantastic video and what a breathtakingly cool vessel. I have a thousand questions just about its propulsion... My biggest question, though, has to do with engineering mistakes. After watching this video, your video regarding Opus and your series about Yogi, I'm curious how often yachts are built with fundamental engineering flaws that aren't caught during sea trials or that aren't covered by contractual terms? For example, in seeing pictures of Opus just before her launch, it appears that her draft seems modest relative to her air draft. I'm not suggesting she's top heavy as I know this ratio can seem deceiving to the eye. On the other hand, I can imagine that without significant and constant stabilization, it could get extremely uncomfortable on those upper decks. At what point does a miscalculation regarding roll center go from being an inconvenience or annoyance to making a yacht unusable or dangerous? And does this sort of engineering screw up happen often? Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!!!

you see one of those 90 meter feadships for sale, and you wonder how a boat can get any bigger, then you see one that is twice the size. would there be limitations to where it could park? i assume it wouldnt be able to park in a normal marina place

Damn, that's impressive! And I'm talking about the video presentation. The ship looks like it's going to be a beauty, too. If I were a billionaire or multimillionaire,, I would love to have a dual- or multi-purpose yacht. Charter it during the regular seasons and then do some research or deliver goods with it during the "off" season. Out of curiosity, is the owner connected to any of these research companies? Or is he hoping they'll charter/rent his ship for the use? Then I'm wondering if the owner plans on staying aboard during any of these? I know I'd like to be a part of one, even though it'd just be as an observer.

I’m so glad our environment has people and organizations that truly care about it. The president here (note I didn’t say “my” President) has been an absolute catastrophe when it comes to environmental issue (along with every other issue one can think of). While I am thoroughly embarrassed that the USA has gone backwards by decades, I am comforted that the rest of the world is still moving forward.

Amazing amount of money to be spent on research vessel, I would just use google, and save a ton of money. However, I couldn’t even afford to pay the wages of the lowest deckhand on that “voluminous “ mega Uber floating city. That being said, it’s my dream, - and long awaited dream it has been, to one day, yes one day, to be able to afford to pay the wages of the lowest deckhand on that ship. I have a dream. Thank you Yacht Sensei, for aiding in my long awaited dream, by producing these cinematic videos.

I think it should get the titles if it will have yacht crews running it. If it doesn't then I can see it as only a work ship, but I have a feeling their will be downtimes on the ship to partake in yacht amenities.

Stunning! I wonder if researches will need to pay to get on board. I get that the owner is a philanthropist and this is nonprofit action but still the vessel of this size requires a ton of capital to operate. Are labs, national institution going to contribute? How's paying the bills?

Rumors are that the yacht is being delayed for possibly five years for launch with 2026 being the new date. Maybe even more though of a delay. I would not be surprised if this never gets built and was some type of hoax.
