This blonde character is just awful. "How could you expose me for cheating literally behind my boyfriend's back?!," "How dare you be mad at my dad for forcing himself on you?!,"
the way she got mad at olivia for picking dare and having to fuck her boyfriend when she knew it was the game and not olivias choice unless she wanted to literally die-
I love how Markie's dad sexually assaulted Olivia, and Markie got mad at Olivia for telling him to drop dead for it. Like, wtf is wrong in your brain???
She's a young adult going through extreme distress, who recently got betrayed (at least thats how she sees it) by both her boyfriend and her best friend, finding out the said best friend has been lying to her the whole time, all the while already being deeply traumatized by her father's suicide. I dare to say that irrationality on her side is actually the most believable reaction.
@@lilscenechick1995 Don't get me wrong, I thought the movie was horrible as well. Boring and predictable and had all the most annoying horror clishes. But this part was easy to explain. I'd say the only good thing about the movie was that every now and then, the psychology of the characters would be done as it would happen in real life.
@@Eris_Norregard I'm not saying Markie would suddenly hate her dad because of what he did. It's just wierd how that was glossed over. I mean, I know first hand how people will excuse the wrongdoing of their father, and instead lash out at the person trying to hold their father accountable for their abuse.
The asian guy character was there to be Asian and gay... and that was honestly it. He came out off screen, he wasn’t involved in any of the actual plot, there was no relationship development between the character and his father... basically just tokenization and offensive pandering.
dylan was completely right they should've included the rift in his and his dad's relationship. then his death would've also been so much more impactful
He had such a good opportunity for a meaningful story buildup and execution (no pun intended), but like you said it was just thrown off-screen. He was the only character I would have been invested in, and he was the least developed (at least I _think_ he was, since none of the characters really seemed very developed in this movie. Honestly I woke up about 3 hours ago from a series of fever dreams and they made more sense than the events of this movie).
to be fair it's predictable based on the character's relationships & development/background! Horror movies have been following the same... "outline" for a while I guess!
I mean he didn't really got the order correct.Only if you remove the position where he thought Carter was going to die and also take away Markie then it is exactly the order.I know that after he said that he believed that Markie and Olivia would be the survivors, but that happened when there where only 3 people left so he had more time to figure it out
Sophie Schulze they kept saying truth or dare, and then someone picks dare. There's even a character who says "why would you pick dare?". I'm confused it seems like there are characters actually choosing dare even when they know there are consequences? You could be right or I could be wrong 😉 Either way it's horrible story telling.
@@fleacythesheepgirl there was a “two truths and a dare” rule. So after 2 ppl chose truth, the third person *had* to choose dare. But it was also because college students have secrets to hide and choosing truth just wasnt an option. They want to live, but they want to live the life they’ve built. Not one where their secrets are out and they’ve lost people they care about.
But can we talk about how "sleeping with someone" is a euphemism and is slang terminology? And the literal meaning of sleeping with someone is to sleep under the same roof, in the same room, or general area. And if the exact words of the dare were "sleep with Lucas", all they had to do was have a non sexual sleepover and he literally could've slept on the floor and no one should die 🤦🏾♀️
Yes, but "to sleep with someone" is a idiomatic expression. It is commonly know to mean "to have sex with someone". So it shouldn't be taken literally.
Yes, but don't (-‸ლ) for interpreting something it's commonly known for. Though I do kind of wonder sometimes what would've happened if they tried to twist those words (or take their literal meaning).
@@mmonikau yeah, but euphemisms are made up. If something already has a set meaning, someone could take it for what it means as a euphemism, or they could take it for what it means literally. But either way, it would be the person who worded it's fault in the first place because they left it up for interpretation. So euphemism or not, they didn't have to do what they did.
the fact that dylan thought the asian guy coming out was a lie because it wasn't shown shows how badly they handled that like... at least show probably the most important moment in your characters life like??
The way dylan both predicted the entire movie and also gave us an alternative storyline that would've made this movie an actually good one sent me A true movie king
Pretty sure he was in pre-med that is what you see at normal universities for some years before actual med school(I don't live in the usa tho so I could be wrong)
@@brendav4695 Pretty much, though actual med school can be a grad program in a normal university, not just on its own. Either way, it's kinda weird to call yourself a med student when you're pre-med.
@Maddison Ocean lmao as a former med student, it's our whole personality because school is all we have time for. For most people, its pretty unintentional
I honestly get the vibe that the only reason the “dead father” plot exists is because the writers realized Markie was such an unsympathetic character that they were clutching at straws for something to make her better. Too bad it didn’t even remotely work
In a horror film Dylan would either be: 1. The cocky one that dies first 2. One of the last two survivors, but then turns out he was the killer then kills the last survivor That’s it, that’s Dylan.
Blonde Girl: *cheats on her boyfriend countless times* Blonde Girl: This is fine, no big deal. I'll do it again too. Her Boyfriend: *sleeps with another girl* Blonde Girl: This is UNACCEPTABLE
@@rorymckinlay2496 I think the point was that characters were supposed to be unlikable, but still. If you’re going to sleep with 8 guys while in a relationship and get mad that he sleeps with another girl because or her friend dies, then you should’ve been among the people who died in this movie.
As a writer, your videos actually really help me into trying to write my books as less predictable for the reader and writing tension and horror into being more scary. Thank you so much!
17:49 if she hadn't spoken for 50 years, she most likely wouldn't be able to speak anymore, at least not without a **lot** of practice. vocal cords are a muscle and muscles have to be worked to be usable. there was a story where a man didn't speak for only 10 years, and when he tried to speak again, he couldn't
Feel like the gay Asian character was thrown in to seem inclusive since everything else in very white and heterosexual lol so they threw us a gay, Asian bone. Happy Pride Month indeed lol
Someone doesn’t include a minority group: “how dare they theres more things than being cis and white shsvsvshsthsh” Someone does include a minority: they’re just doing it to be inclusive 😩😩‼️‼️
@@jbonceu2457 right?? She's a humanitarian but she puts hundreds of people in danger without their consent, they will probably die just to save her friend who is actually a shitty person lol
So it's, "My BFF sleeps with my boyfriend or she literally dies." and she's mad? The same friend who, while she does suck for having feelings for your boyfriend, covered for your serial cheating, and you'd what? Rather see her die?
The funny thing about that scene with the doctor guy in the interview is that the way this whole thing works is that the demon makes you see someone telling you truth or dare, but in the real world they just here you talking to yourself. So essentially when the demon asked him "how long have you been forging prescriptions" he could've just said "2 years" or something which would've meant nothing to the interview lady.
How does anyone even begin to think about accepting a dare. The options are basically hurt someone's feelings or commit murder/potential self off button.
20:30 "Truth or Dare! Oh but if you choose Dare I'm just gonna make you tell the truth anyway." What's the point in even asking between the two if it winds up being the same thing?
@@aileen8369 yeah that was my point. The original comment said Tyler Posey was scarier in the horror movie than Teen Wolf. Which he obviously would be because Scotts character isn't a scary character
In these teenage horror movies it's always the ""quirky"" ""random"" group of friends that decide to do dumb shit like going on a hike in the DARK to a clearly CREEPY place.. "oh no we don't do mainstream stuff like have a chill night in one of the rooms or just get drunk"
i say this is the nicest way possible, as i am part of one of those "random" friend groups, it is always us irl. it's not unrealistic. me and two of my friends went out one night and decided the funniest shit would be taking nudes of each other in a cemetery at night until a dude approached us as we were leaving and offered us coke, then we said no and he smiled at us and walked back into the woods near the cemetery. we could have been murdered that night but we like like no creepy cemetery near the woods at night let's sneak in and take nudes there it'll be fun. some people are just not good at making decisions 😂
Actually the parallel was kinda cool. Initially, when they were first playing there was a similar question and she said that she'd obviously choose to save the entire city over her friends and in the end she did the exact opposite.
I was waiting for someone to say this! hands down the only good part of the movie that made sense. I think Lucy being portrayed as a good humanitarian wasn't for the deepest darket secret of Marky and her father but rather for this moment.
22:30 THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID WHY ON EARTH WOULD HE CHOSE DARE?? CHOOSING TRUTH WOULD GIVE THEM MORE TIME TO FINISH THE CEREMONY. UGH I WAS SO FRUSTRATED.
"The game doesn't end until everyone is dead" *ASKS THE WORLD TO PLAY DESPITE HAVING ASKED THE DEMON SO THEREFORE THE DEMON MUST JOIN THE GAME AND YOU CAN DARE HIM TO KILL HIMSELF*
@@LilianaHernandez-dc6dn it's two truths and a dare, the rules were established with the original playing group to make it more fun; basically if both girls pick truth he's have to pick dare :>
i am literally scared of every little small amount of horror but i just laughed about those face they are comedy gold. They look like a damn snapchat filter
Yah only the violent stuff is probs what is scary in this movie but take away the violence out a little more comedy and keep the faces and would it reallyyy be scary😬
18:42 exactly!!! I also felt like the dad seemed pretty understanding and nothing was shown to make him homophobic so it really doesn’t make it as powerful like you said. Dylan needs to become a famous director pleaseeee✨
1) because natural survival instincts kick in 2) because the choice is being taken away from them, similarly how often people who didn't want children find out they actually can't and all of a sudden they want them.
Thats like asking the best NBA analytics person why they are not better than Michael Jordan. Its a completely different skill set... that the director of this movie clearly didnt have
@@elizabethblack2674 How is it possible that he went to film school but he hasn't watched any movies tho? I mean the ones he is usually reacting to you wouldn't see in film school obviously but I remember in old videos of his he has mentioned that he hasn't watched many movies and doesn't really watch movies either.
I’m always hesitant when creators ask for folks to share their “deepest darkest secrets”. Like.....lots of people have terrible things that you can’t make fun content out of. Most deep dark secrets aren’t “I still sleep w my teddy bear from birth” it’s “I never told anyone about this terrible abuse I suffered”. 🤷♂️
@@lithiumkid I don't remember which video but he recently(-ish) said he stopped doing the submissions videos because people were using it to talk about the really dark things they went through. Because people that don't have outlets for that stuff tend to gravitate towards anonymous videos (or any anon place really) like this, especially when it's likely the content creator you like a lot and look up to, will give you words of comfort.
@@UncleBuck3t honestly i don’t know why i left the comment that i did, because i completely believe what you’re saying is true. i do see people talking about serious, traumatic stuff unsolicited in comment sections all the time, even on lighthearted gaming content or comedy videos. i wouldn’t be able to deal with it either, so i respect his choice.
Dylan you’re one of my favourite RU-vidrs, I lost my best friend a year ago and I don’t have people to hang out with so watching movies with you makes me feel comforted 😊
I literally saw this movie with my friend for the first time about a week ago, and everything was just sooo predictable! She even asked me if I had seen the movie before, because I nailed every single death and event 💀
I'm surprised that Dylan didn't realize when Olivia said she would save the world instead of her friends when they first got to the demon church place, and the movie ended with Olivia choosing her friend over the world.
Okay so... girl 1 A: AGRESSIVELY cheats B: gets MAD because girl 2 and the guy she cheated on slept TO SAVE HER LIFE C: gets mad AGAIN at girl 2 for telling off her ASSULTING FATHER
i don't know who is worse in ordering their priorities, the girls for separating and worring about their relationship drama when they are in a deadly game, or the demon actually caring about said relationship drama
honestly i love watching commentaries and reactions to horror because the idea of it intrigues me but i do get scared so this way i can watch it without watching it, so thanks for being the horror human shield dylan 😂
I'm from the Netherlands and discovered your channel five days ago. Think I have watched about 30 of your video's since then... I am loving this channel! So much better then having to watch the entire movie or series, this is funnier and easier.
