Is YouTube forcing good creators to make content they don’t want to make? 

I don’t use social media, except I have a Facebook account I use to keep track of friends. There’s too much misinformation and things to rile us up. I don’t want to be manipulated that way

You're Ebay rant video popped up which is the only reason I know this smaller account of yours even exists! Definitely avoid shorts. RU-vid fear TikTok but mimicking what they do isn't the way. I like both formats but have moods for both! Generally prefer longer videos I can just stick on in the background though

I’m also frustrated with RU-vid and instagram ads lately. I’m thinking about buying RU-vid premiere and an adblocker just to not have to deal with it. I may prefer to film videos and livestreams over shorts but I see some value in shorts. I got caught on the shorts algorithm which operates differently and less consistently than the regular video algorithm. I’ve seen different opinions from both sides whether they like or don’t like shorts. I’m somewhere in the middle. Sometimes I end up posting video files for RU-vid shorts and instagram reels

I spent 3 days sorting pennies. I think it's good to focus for long periods of time, it's an accomplishment.

I discovered you via the video rant 🙋🏻‍♀️I totally understand the tunnel vision compulsion. I start off projects and then I realize I started one too many. You are so right about the content thing! I rather have subscribers who enjoy my videos when I’m able to put them out. You made such a good point and I agree.

Instagram is out of control, I get one actual post, then 2 ADs or suggested post....

I don’t recall seeing any of your shorts. Well, maybe one…..but that’s all you need if you know how to use it.

What channel was your eBay rant on? Currently I’m extremely frustrated with bricklink sellers, recently almost every order has had a problem, mistake, wrong/missing parts, etc. etc. I’ve been buying/selling on eBay since 2005 and I’ve never had so many problems than my 2.5 years on bricklink.

I have begun unfollowing folks who have transitioned to just posting reels and shorts. I just don't get it... Especially when folks post voiceovers from pop culture references and relate it to whatever thing their channel revolves around. It's so unoriginal and odd.

I am thinking that youtube is trying to cater more to the younger generation with no offense who seems to have a short attention spam, thus shorts, reels and tik tok. I started to make video on yt not long ago and I feel like my audience is on younger side, and it doesnt matter how long is my video, my average watch duration is usually 1-2 minutes max. So it either I am boring and people click through my vid or most people just dont want to spend time watching the whole time, most likely both are true 😂

"So this is how RU-vid dies... with 'billions' of likes..." Never knew this channel existed but this video was recommended for some reason 😅. Some of the bigger channels I watch make shorts but don't push to subscribers, I wouldn't really be affected by them unless I went to their channel page. I don't mind short form content itself, but I don't like the huge push by companies and creators to put too much importance on them. Like most things, my feelings are complicated. I also wonder how you keep up with comments having like 17 RU-vid channels 😛

I won't watch shorts. I prefer 10-20 minute videos of things I find Interesting.

Joseph, don't you dare waste another second of your time not selling on what not. Whatnot is a gold rush and they have built-in buyers and no you do not have to be an influencer to sell on what not especially something like comic books or even legos. What you have to do is create your show in like four or five days in advance people will bookmark it and once your show is live people who are interested in that category will see that that show is live and you will get lots of viewers and if you have good stuff you will sell. And the thing about it is you will sell a lot you might sell 100 200 300 bucks in one day. Don't you dare waste another second of your life not selling on whatnot:-) have a good one.

Rant rant rant rant rant.... All jokes aside, it is much better to vent than to hold it all in. Plus ur audience values ur opinion so by all means, rant away
