I’m absolutely appalled by this case. Any violent criminal should have a tracking device if they’re leaving the prison grounds. This inmate took over a bus, was missing for 22 days and murdered 4 children and an adult. How does this happen? Armed guard should have been on the back of the bus.

And the lawsuits will be dismissed because lazy, incompetent and outright corrupt bureaucrats hide behind sovereign & qualified immunity to be incompetent in the performance of their duties never facing any penalties like being a defendant in a civil suit they don't even usually lose their jobs

As a former CO of TDCJ, he should have never been transported on a chain. Protocol is shackle and cuff and taken in a van with an escort. This has always been the rule in the past with life sentence inmates and death row.

County sheriff has nothing to do with transportation of state inmates. It's all done within the TDCJ.

It has been secretive and they’re still being secretive…it wasn’t until last Monday that they finally released the pictures of his tattoos! Why were they so delayed on getting information out to the public esp those in that community…

Yeah, this is sad... awful. This guy escaped around the same time as the woman who killed the cyclist out there in Texas. She's still on the loose. They have footage of her at the airport there, and they said she flew into LaGuardia. She may still be in NY. She could be anywhere.The news has pretty much stopped talking about her. I have already warned relatives in Michigan because she's from the Detroit area. I am in Florida, and I always keep an eye out for fugitives. Plenty of places to hide here, and people come and go all the time, so no one asks a lot of questions.

It is the duty of law enforcement to inform residents. Otherwise what are you paying them? To sit around and eating donuts & drinking coffee while kids are slaughtered?

The area was clear by the state police so they probably thought it would be a nice weekend to fish and relax at their private lake house.

Law Enforcement had stated that the area was "cleared" and that they were searching another area, locals & people in Texas were aware of this "development". Read comments from those in the area, they state this fact themselves. BLAMING THE VICTIMS IS INCORRECT.

I thought the coverage of the escaped inmate nationwide was good, I knew about him and I'm in California. One of the mistakes police made was leading people to believe the fugitive had left Texas for Mexico and not alerting the community when the neighbor's home was broken into.

I live in New York n this escape was all over on the news on Facebook it was announced escaped man shot n called n now people want to say they weren't notified it's been all over the cell phone as well u tube etc,The escapee was half a mile where they were searching it was well publicized n now law enforcement is to blame This should have never happened to that Collins family a tragedy my heart goes out to the family For others counties to complain u were well aware what was happening like I stayed it was all over TV all on the phones

The cops said they knew he was still in that area so the cops should have informed the people who have vacation homes there.
