Learning from failure is one of the greatest ways to gain real experience. If you are afraid to fail, because you are worried about how people will judge you, then you are stunting the rate at which you are growing as a person. Gary even suggests screwing up on purpose, so then these people have no expectation of you and you can only go up from in their eyes!

Failure doesn't feel good. Not accomplishing your goal can leave you feeling unmotivated or even that you shouldn't even be trying run a business. Favorite talk from Gary. I watch this daily. I was raised with such high expectations and didn't experience failure until my late 20's even though I had anxiety about it all my life from parental expectations. My failure nearly destroyed me with the bottle. I picked myself up eventually, settled into a shit paying job that made me happy and disappointed my whole family. Now I'm building an online business for myself -- not for them -- and I can't wait to stick it to them.

I agree. This advice doesn't work for us. I always loved astrophysics but because high paying jobs are in Computer Science, I had to go through the JEE route. BTW, I don't hate my major and I like coding but I would've been 1000 times happier if I studied Astrophysics. I get what you feel, I just wish things were a little better for us, South-East Asia/Indian people. 😣

While I understand what Gary is saying about not being demoralized from losing and chugging along, it's a bit of a stretch to say that he enjoys losing. Losing and making bad choices or losing money in business can be demoralizing and soul crushing. Gary is definitely a brilliant guy and has accomplished a lot on his own merits. However, he was fortunate to have a supportive environment and it doesn't look like he has ever had to deal with a soul crushing defeat or embarrassment such as a bankruptcy or a business that totally flopped that can easily make someone depressed and go into a death spiral. Yes, it's important not to feed into the victim mentality but to root for failure so you can have a great comeback story. It is a little bit of romanticizing something that can really devastating. It's not easy to just shake it off and make a comeback. Some people genuinely never recover from a huge defeat. Not bc they are lazy or have a victim mentality. They just can not recover and find solace or success after a huge defeat.

So I fucked up and it wasn't on purpose lol. I'm on day 13 of living in my car now. Follow me on Instagram, Brycedemeke. I started renting cars to people who wanted to Uber and lyft drive. Both cars got in accidents within 2 months and I didn't have enough savings to cover both deductibles and my rent so I chose to get the cars back on the road to get my money back. Then another accident! Now I'm broke and working my way back up.

yesterday i was play bball in i lost bad i was play 21 and only made 1 3 and a two on two game i made two points at the most and later i played again and kept getting beat by the worst player and i love it i went on youtube look up denfensive drills and practice last night and today i still lost but i saw more improvement and my game i fucking love losing cause it lights a fire inside of you but if you loser idk what to say y all got to remember you only lose cause you didnt want it bad enough and it send you back to the drawing board i fucking love it i notice alot things and game and im ready to fix it i notice my conditioning is fucking crap and now im working on that

Hey Gary I'm 13 and there was a entrepreneur program and I had a team which worked without me because I was busy all the days and couldn't contribute, so on the last day I made a really good diagram and they said that we will give u more slides if you make a good diagram and I did but they didn't give me any more slides so I told them I'm quitting, was that a good decision? These are your friends and you give them no time on some sort of collaboration that was agreed upon by all parties. They were very clear and very lenient if it's good we'll give you more slides. It was bad so they didn't give you anymore slides.
