I was in Juvenile hall with “Ivy” about 6 years ago , this girl is undeniably talented and extremely smart. She wrote short stories and little novels and when she would read them , she would have the Whole camp Captivated, everyone wanted a “role” in her stories . We’d also be having little freestyle battles and when she rapped , you can tell she was ahead of her time . She was and is extremely articulate , smart and beautiful. I pray that she makes it out the streets and be able to live to her Full Potential. I pray that she will be able to be all that she has ever wanted ! I’m praying for you ivy ❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾

In the first few minutes of this video I had thought she’d be a great writer if she wrote her words down. She’s a hell of an orator, and I’m sure she has captivated all of us. It hurts to see her pain, it’s so raw. I hope she can do good for herself and her babies. I cannot imagine how hard it is to break free from her addiction, but I hope she will. She’s so young, smart and beautiful. I hope you’re living your potential and able to enjoy the goods in our world. In my experience, when people are this raw, this close to breaking down in response to general questions, they're really in a dangerous place. It would truly be a shame if someone w so much potential to be loved, to be celebrated, was just wasted because she just never overcame her difficult beginnings. I noticed a few minutes in that he realized questions would only detract from the interview but add nothing. It was only during the longest pauses that he asked any questions at all. Many interviewers, the more narcissistic ones, would've interrupted anyhow if only to bring the focus back on the fact that it's their taping. Mark, on the other hand, demonstrated self-discipline & humility by allowing her to tell her story in her own quite poetic manner.

I am a 65 yr black woman who has never cried watching these video. But today you got me. Oh the poet in you. You should write your feeling ever day. Work your way out of this depression and life style. If I could hug you I would probably never let you go. There is so much in you. Let it out. See your daughters. They need to know you today and forever. They don't need to have to chase you down. You have so much to teach them. Teach them who you are and what you want to become. It will help them and yourself. I've been watching her past videos and that is exactly what I have been saying to myself, that she has no idea just how intelligent she is. I also feel that she's lost but not completely gone yet, I feel that she's still trying to resist being swallowed up whole. Past mistakes and decisions do not determine one's value. I understand her. I've been her. Abandoned by my mother. My children was taken away by the state, because I had them in a household where I was being beat, stabbed, knives to my throat, and a gun to my head. I'm also a drug addict/alcoholic. Fortunately for myself, I got clean, got out of that relationship, and got my kids back. IT IS POSSIBLE GIRL!!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! YOU CAN GET CLEAN, AND GET THEM BABIES BACC!!!! Only 23, yet speaks like she has lived a lifetime. I see so much beauty in her brokenness. Ivy has a lot to offer this world. I hope she seeks the help she desperately needs to battle her addiction and heal from her trauma, so that she can be the woman and mother she never had in her life. Genuinely want to know what beauty is seen in her brokenness? She’s in immense pain. Obviously she is a strong person to have kept going but most people don’t make it through because this type of life isn’t worth living anymore for them. As humans we try to say there is beauty in this dark world but is it? There are beautiful people and moments but at the core we need help beyond what we can ever do because of irreversible damage. She has generations of this sadness before her and she now sees life as hopeless at this point. How is this beauty?

I have been thinking about how Ivy was doing. I hope that she can find a path to self acceptance and healing. And that to love herself unconditionally is the kindest legacy she can offer her daughters. So they might escape this intergenerational sorrow. Understanding that people become addicted, when getting high allows "instant" escape from a troubled life. By the time that illusion is shattered, addiction has been added to their burdens. You and your daughters deserve better, Ivy.

Mark, I watch almost all your interviews. Ivy is the most honest person you've ever had on here. She isn't trying to fool anyone, impress anyone, or cover anything up. She is a bleeding heart, and purposefully a cautionary tale. Ivy is incredibly intelligent, thoughtful, and poetic-at the same time, incredibly tragic. Her interview is one of the most touching, eye-opening ones I've seen. It's surreal to watch this woman, who speaks as if she's lived a hundred lifetimes, and to think she's only 23. I am also 23. I believe she can see herself, but can’t escape the reality shes let come upon her. I can relate to this so much and it hurts. She does see herself, as do I. I see myself for all the potential and beauty and strength i have inside. No that im holding inside, afraid to let go of addiction. You can have a fire inside, one you so badly want to share with the world, yet not be able to escape from yourself. Life is a battlle. This channel is beautiful. There’s a lot of people saying she’s going to be a great counselor, great social worker, great public speaker etc. but as much as I see a potential truth in that, I think Ivy could be a really gifted writer. The way she expresses her pain and grief and regret and the bleakness of her depression has all the markers of someone who can really hone in on some descriptive writing. I wonder if she journals or has been putting all of this feeling somewhere between finding her way back here for follow-ups. Amen no drugs have no power over me or my friends & I been was taking care of my baby since he was in ICU. I got me a job at racetrack and was doing good. I wished the value how many doubles I wasn’t supposed to be doing but I worked it for my children.! God loves us and I strive to be grateful. I strive this young lady makes it through the major storms. Troubles don’t last always.

I'm a recovering addict, 9.5yrs of sobriety and hearing her talk took me right back to the emotions of my addiction. The despair, anger, hurt, confusion and most of all the the desire for change. It was hard to get sober, having to face my past and then the damage I had created while in my addiction was painful. But almost 10 yrs later and I can tell you the fight is worth it. I got my babies back, married and created a beautiful life. You can do it too. You deserve it, you are worth it and SO MUCH MORE. I pray for her strength and healing.

I have honestly gone back and forth deciding whether or not to comment because this video is a year old and I know how many stories that end in tragedy on this channel. I just have so much hope that Ivy got the help she needs to realize that she's worth getting better she's worth investing into. She sees how strong she is to have this deep introspection. Ivy you are such an amazing woman you are worth getting better. I cried watching you cry. I hope wherever you may be that you are fighting the addictions you struggle with all the strength you have in your being because you are worth it.

Wow, she is so well worded. She has the eyes to see. Someone give this girl the love she needs to get clean! She could help so many once she clears the weight and fog of depression and addiction. I haven’t watched SWU in a while but I do come on every once in a while to see if “Ivy” has an update. I went to school with her, she was younger than me but I remember her vividly. If I am not mistaken she was on the volleyball team and was a smart girl (still is). Ivy you really have touched me, I have never rooted for someone as much as I am rooting for you. You are beautiful, kind, intelligent and with all that you have been through you are poetry in itself. I know it may seem too late to be in your daughters life but it is not. You have so much to teach her and even though you may not know it, I think you have a lot of love to give and your kids have a lot of love to give you as well. I am praying that you are doing well. I see this update is more than a year ago now but I pray you are doing well and reunited with your kids.

This has really opened my eyes. I have adopted my great niece because of this same situation! For 5 yrs I thought of her parents as selfish drug addicts. Never thinking about their hurt and guilt. And the roller coaster emotions that causes them to continue to use. Thank You Ivy for helping me see the other side. You and them are in my prayers

I just watched all of Ivy’s interviews in a row, and I’m in tears. Addiction doesn’t give a SHIT, and without a support system in place, it’s the hardest thing to overcome. I just want to hug her and tell her there is still hope. THAT is worth it.

Out of all the people interviewed, I feel most invested in Ivy's story. I want her to succeed so badly! There's something very special about her. I don't think she even realizes how special she is. I see her inspiring others, helping others and living a happy fulfilled life with her babies. Praying for her and all the girls trying to get out of this life.

Her change is coming, and it's going to be mind-blowing to her. That will be the ultimate high for her. The high she craves now won't be able to touch the high she will have in a relationship with Jesus Christ - it's closer than she thinks. I understand about her mom, I had one like that too. I lived my environment too, but I'm grateful to God I escaped the demons that thought they would keep me captive. satan is a coward, liar that does this to people's lives to keep them in slavery to immoral sex, drugs, lies, stealing, killing. I was diagnosed with depression. I have a story about that too. Just know that Jesus Christis our hope and our help. This is what a life of living without Jesus Christ is all about. satan comes into folk lives to kill, steal, and destroy. You won't believe what Jesus comes to do until we witness it for ourselves. It sounds like a joke. It seems unreal, unattainable, but all I can say it you have to experience it for yourself. People think that life in a relationship with Jesus Christ is boring, all I have to say is her life is the alternative. I didn't experience real love until I have my life right Jesus. This chick is already some serious she's just on the wrong side of life. The other one is waiting on her to arrive and satan is trying to keep her from realizing it.

When she said that people who say it is what it is are dangerous.... Boy, that hit me so hard. My husband and I used to be M addicts, and i would always say " It is what it is ....can't be nothing else" Because I thought I would never get out. I also lost my two kids and I didn't care about me anymore. It is what is, kept me there for too long.... I feel her pain. You can get out and there is hope and beauty outside of that life

Usually the more hurtful things that happen make it harder and harder to stop. The drugs will temporarily take the mental pain away, and if you are suffering taking a quick vacation from the pain is hard not to do. I am glad you were able to stop. Drugs ultimately make all the mental pain more. God bless you and your husband

As a therapist, Watching this is heartbreaking! The hair and posture is different and it seem as shes had a mental breakdown…Ivy was so hopeful in the last interview, she seemed to be coming out of being numb…now You can hear so much pain she’s trying to escape! It seem like she has given up yet she has so much guilt because she know she’s capable of more! She’s so beautiful and intelligent. The lost of her babies has her feeling as if she has nothing left to fight for so she’s letting the addiction take over and self medicating. She’s now trying to convince herself she’s not good enough to parent smh! I know that’s not true because of the way she spoke of her child in the previous interviews and how proud she was. She has lost focus and just need a good support and therapy to overcome this! I have so much faith in her! I pray she can overcome this darkness she’s in and get back to her babies! ❤️

out of EVERY video i’ve watched on this channel, this is one of the only genuine women who’s telling the truth so hard you can feel her pain. i know from experience, she needs someone to help pull her out. she needs TRAUMA centered therapy, this is a child with so much ptsd generationally, but she’s ready to be the cycle breaker, for her children. just as i did 4yrs ago. she really needs a support system right now more than anything else. a healthy, loving support system.

When she said “At a certain point, we gotta be left where we are b/c we’ve become someone or something that’s unsuitable for public nature”. At that moment I realized this woman is a prolific poet. B/c for the first time.. someone was able to put into words what it feels like to be an addict from the most honest place in their heart. My heart broke in that moment because what I heard was “I surrender”. How do you live with that much pain at 23? I sincerely pray that this young brilliant woman gets the help she deserves so she can look in the mirror and see what everyone else sees. She’s a ray of light in a world of darkness. 🙏🏾💜

This isn’t the first time, oddly enough. I saw another interview of a girl who was “happy” to be in prostution and basically said she was too far gone to merge into normal society. She said that we look at the crackheads and streetwalkers and whatnot on the side of the road as disgusting but she saw them as friends, family and colleagues

With a proper support system, counseling, and medication( natural or synthetic), this queen can go a long way just telling her story. She’s very smart as we can see. I am far away from The Netherlands, but cant she get into a sort kind of program or a mentorship program where she can get the help she needs, stability, counselling, rehab and housing so she is taken off the streets?
