Would love to see: Everyone at TiFo's favourite statistically sound "hot take" that's backed up by data. (Inspired by Maram's Maguire video) Alex, Maram, JJ and Mark, all head to head (maybe Ian M can judge the winner), and Joe presumably doing something about why based on rotations/spins per game Adama Traore is actually a food processor, thriving in a system that favours midrange kitchen appliances.
@@suthir_nadar I'm available if Joe wants to add me to the TiFo chain gang, I'll paint Alex's nails, hold Joe's pencils and guide Aberdeen to a third place finish.
Question: In the movie Catch Me If You Can, they say “Why do the yankees always win” “It’s because the opposition can’t stop looking at the stripes” I was wondering if having a bizarre looking kit has any correlation to winning more?
The opposite happened with united's grey away shirt in 1996, players complained that they couldnt see their teammates and they changed at halftime in one game
@Aaaaaaa It means that the opponents are so caught up in the mythos and aura of the Yankees and their famous pinstripe uniform that they mentally psyche themselves out before a ball is pitched - you aren't just playing the team before you but also the history and the reputation of the establishment. Or at least that's how I tried to interpret it. Yes I have an English degree
@@SujoyChakravarthi93 Reminds me of Bilardo in '86 when we played Germany in the WC final. 2-0 up and he was freaking the hell out because "they're still German". Went on to give them two goals from corners lol
Teams in red statistically win more often apparently. My theory is that this isn't about an advantage on the pitch but that red is most people's favourite colour, which in turn helps a team get more fans and more money. I'd like to see Man United become a global brand with a pink and yellow striped shirt.
To answer your question, if it's for a morning run around the park, I'd pick my family members. If I'm looking to enjoy a good meal out or simply to spend some quality time, I'd pick a dog.
Brilliant episode. Something I've wondered for a while; why do Chelsea seem to have struggled so much to get the best out of strikers except Drogba? Lukaku, Werner, Higuain, Morata, Torres & Shevchenko being the obvious examples.
And is he now really into Ghouls and magnets? And does he dislike peoples knees? Alex showing personality while imitating Charlie was not something I expected this morning!
Show just keeps getting better and better. Need the scattergram song back though, irregardless of the fact that Mark Carey’s not stuck inside one anymore.
I have a question for Alex. If I had a pair of trousers - perhaps tartan, perhaps not - that remained wrinkled despite my best efforts to iron them, would you say they were... press...resistant?
I did my first FM save in Belgium in FM 22. I didn't bother reading the league rules and I was so confused when I saw the playoffs pop up on my schedule.
I am concerned to choose between my family and dogs, if Joe Devine has become so powerful he can split his hand into two so casually he surely must have the ability to decimate one or the other
Would love to see a segment on the resurgence of Australian players in Europe this season and recruitment from a-league into Europe (With influence of Olyroos at Toyko Olympics)
I have a question: has Everton improved under Frank Lampard? They’ve actually won games since the departure of Rafa Benitez, but are these the result of tactical changes and genuine improvement backed up by data or are they basically flukes and the club is still in extreme danger of relegation?
I have a question for the boys, what would the PL look like today if Jack Walker had never died/his family sell off Blackburn? Would they have kept going and winning trophies, establishing themselves as a big 6 club? Or would the experiment have died off naturally? Love you boys xx
Jack Walker's level of investment would have paled in to insignificance by the time the early noughties hit and you got owners like Abramovich taking Premier League spending to new highs, plus their spending had slowed down a fair bit in years between their title win and his death (with the exception of one particularly profligate season in 98/99 when they spend 50m!)
@@robertjones4201 tbf that’s true but Blackburn could have easily been where Leeds were in the champions league, Maybe with Jacks money they keep going and occupy that 4th/5th spot
Why are Bodo/Glimt so good even with their finances and turnover. Is it tactics or skills, is the team built well. Is Kjetil Knutsen a really good manager and could go places. You've been questioned
i'd like to know this as well, they aren't a traditional Scandinavian powerhouse like Rosenborg and in my eyes they kind of popped out of nowhere especially against Roma
Can you explain how the national league system works? I genuinely can't figure out who's supposed to be relegated and promoted with the leagues splitting off into smaller and smaller regions as you go down the divisions
Not surprised to see Tifo having a high degree of artistic quality to their pop cultural references. Next I want to see 'The Gang solves the Super League Crisis'.
From Philly, so love the episode. Dr. Marc Carey: excluding first season relegations is a deficiency in the analysis. You could argue promoted teams are generally weak and those lucky enough to stay up the first season are just reverting to the mean in the second.
Hey Michael, the relegated teams weren’t in the Premier League for a second season, hence why they cannot be included in the analysis about second season syndrome. Thanks for watching
@@markcarey9035 I get that. But an easy answer to 2nd season syndrome is: "No such thing. They just got lucky the first season". Your analysis didn't counter that, does it? You have a PhD, and I don't, so maybe I'm misunderstanding? (BTW, I think luck is a big issues; at least Sheff Utd and Leeds were far luckier with injuries the first season than the second).
Idk if its coincidence or if the shows gotten another wave of popularity but im seeing Philly content everywhere lately ahah. Definitely not complaining!
I remember searching something and went down a rabbit hole that ended up in searching for Belgium’s league structure. It was so damn confusing and seemed pointlessly complicated.
Dear Tifo, can you please explain how the Dutch 2nd Division (Keuken Kampioen Divisie) works now? They've modified the spots for direct promotion recently, which completely destroyed my sense of understanding it, and I live there. Also this show is amazing, keep it up id you can
It's quite simple. The top 2 teams get promoted, unless they are youth teams because youth teams can't get promoted, so if one of them is a youth team the nr 3 gets promoted, and if that is a youth team or there were two youth teams at the top the nr 4 gets promoted, etc etc. Then there is a playoff in which a third team gets promoted, or not because the nr 16 of the Eredivisie also participates. The participants are the period champions, which are the teams that gathered the most points over each quarter of the season, but once again this is unless that team is a youth team because they can't get promoted. When the period champion is a youth team, or if the team has already been period champion earlier in the season, that playoff spot gets given to the nr 2 of that period, but if THAT team has already been period champion or is a youth team, no playoff spot is handed out over that period. Quite often one or two of the period champions automatically get promoted, and there are 6 participants from the Keuken Kampioen Divisie anyways, so added to the period champions are at least 2 but possibly more of the following highest placed teams in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie over the season that aren't youth teams or already period champions. These 6 teams play each other over two matches, and of the winners 2 play each other and 1 plays the nr 16 of the Eredivisie, then the winners of these two ties play each other and the one that wins THAT tie gets promoted... or if the nr 16 of the Eredivisie wins the playoffs that team simply stays in the Eredivisie.
"Now this is the Belgian League system. Can we talk about the Belgian League system, JJ? I've been dyin' to talk to you about the Belgian League system all day. Okay?" Sunny theme and bumper music is public domain, just fyi.
When is the best time in a season for a team to pick up form? Teams like Arsenal and West Ham were great in the middle of the season, but slowing down in the run-in might cost both of them Champions League football. Is a late purple patch better than a slightly earlier one?
Hey guys! Would love to see some analysis on tactics teams employ while playing at home vs. playing away. Are there any teams that play a noticeably different style while playing away?
that intro is a work of art. and i would choose dogs, i know how many family memebers i have and its a finite amount, the term "or dogs" implies an endless amount of dogs. so dogs is my awnser.
Thanks for this one! I'd be interested in a study of how difficult it is for promoted clubs to keep their best players, how quickly the attrition of talent sets in (do other clubs wait to see if their players can 'handle' the PL?), and whether the promoted as a group have difficulty attracting quality replacements after arriving in the PL. Comparing the kind of squad turnover promoted sides face compared to, say, established mid-table clubs would be interesting; is the environment so adverse that emphasizing retention over quality in roster construction is the best approach?
