#Podcast It's Okay to Fail. I do it all the time. Failing and falling down is how we learn and get better. Sometimes we do it alone and sometimes we do it together. Don't be afraid to try new things. Keep putting yourself out there Keep putting your heart on the line. Sometimes you will get hurt and sometimes you will get a miracle. Just don't ever give up!

I am learning to embrace failure. I am a college student with ADHD and I am learning how to shed away my past trauma from neurotypical standards for "the right way" to be a student. My family doesn't believe I have ADHD, so we agree to disagree, but they and the way they raised me are my setbacks in some ways. It isn't easy to change my reactions to failure from "I am a disappointment to my family" every time I can't study for as long as other students or can't focus to "let's find a different way to succeed", but what matters is that I can now accept my disability by normalizing the obstacles I face and/or lack of accommodations. This reduces my depression symptoms, because I realize I have more control over my ADHD and how it affects my success than I was taught.

Without failure, you simply have nothing to learn and build upon and grow from. Melissa, I have followed you for years now, from back in the days where you and your child did doll reviews together. I wish you and your family peace and grace, especially for your son. I’m not transgender nor pretend to understand the mountain of emotions, struggles etc that come along with it, but I understand what it feels like to not be like your friends and have feelings you can’t really talk to them about because they can’t relate to them. You see, I am bisexual. At first I felt like this part of me that was attracted to women (I’m a cis-gender female) was wrong and that I had to shove it deep down and make myself only like boys. Then one day when I was in my twenties I decided that screw what society says I should be attracted to. It’s perfectly normal to be attracted to both boys and girls. Never have I felt so liberated! It was like a release of everything I was shoving deep down inside of me and a blanket of peace and tranquility enveloped my soul! I hope you and your son can feel like this someday. To just stop fighting yourselves, and to accept who you are. Your beautiful, strong people. Just the way you are.

i've been dedicating my time for the last few weeks both prepping things to practice more at drawing & painting as well as working up the courage to start creating youtube videos. there's days where i'm super pumped & able to think everything out logically, and then there's other days where i'm so overtaken by anxiety that i feel discouraged and get too overwhelmed to do anything. i feel like everything you're saying is something that really scared part of my brain needed to hear
@MelissaHunterTalk
@MelissaHunterTalk 2 года назад
I hope the scared part of your brain is able to let go a little bit. Try having a conversation with them. Ask them to talk about the fear and you might be surprised. It might not really be about what you are trying to do now, but more about something from the past. The mind is a tricky place

Ive been trying to get my diving license for a while but I don't have any motivation to go out and practice and I really HATE driving!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭I also feel like when I don't do a bunch of stuff in 1 day (like cleaning the whole house) I end up feeling like I've just wasted the day :( Been struggling a lot with this lately. Thanks for this❤️ I look forward to your videos every week!

On your bio for this channel, you let us know you aren't a therapist or a medical professional. Most of us don't need that, but we do need what you give us! You talk to all of us like a friend who cares! You give us the pep talks we need that we aren't getting from the people really in our lives

That inner critic is tough on us. More harsh than anyone else will be, but I've learned to get curious and ask them why they feel the way they feel. It's a process...like the rest of life

I view failure as a learning experience, with one exception. I will not submit my fiction to publishers because it crushes me to be told my work is less deserving than books that say things like "She saw his truck coming through the window and ran outside to greet him".
@MelissaHunterTalk

I can understand that. It's sad what gets published and what gets ignored.

I am at the moment, wondering what it would be that I might be afraid to do? Most of the things I want to do and can't/don't are due to money. I have overwhelmed myself with yard, garden and house projects for the spring and summer to keep busy. They are all good things that need done and some I am SICK of waiting for to happen so I will do them myself...but there is no fear there. I do have some health limitations, mainly in my legs, but I am going to the doc this week. Oh yah, there's a fear, claustrophobia. If they suggest an MRI which I have no idea if they would, it's not happening. They could shoot me dead and I would still jump up and have a royal freak. It's not going to happen! There were too many people in the hallway where I work yesterday and I had a small anxiety attack but alleviated it by darting away from the congestion. Love this channel and the great work you all are bring about. Thanks so much!

I don't know you, but I think you (like the majority of people) would get an MRI if you needed one. Doctors prescribe a sedative for people who are claustrophobic prior to an MRI. I find keeping my eyes closed while in there helps, and I have had three MRIs. If the sedative isn't enough, then psychological therapy might be necessary. There are tools to help you. Hopefully you don't need one, though.

@@c.w.2000 Thanks for commenting, at this point I will never get an MRI, but I am encouraged that you took the time to share. Have a great day and I wish you happiness.

originally I had to get sedated for my MRI's. But then I had so many of them I got used to just closing my eyes before they slide me in. Now I'm fine in there. They are super scary at first. Very common fear!

Hey Melissa I know this is off topic, but have you looked into the Roblox drama at all? I'd love to see you play other games, but I personally don't support Roblox anymore :// just for the way the company is managed. Some of the community is still very good
