May want to add a fuel filter/water catch going back to the main tank. Gravity feed, simple flow thru. No matter what water condensation will get in tank.

With the new boxes installed, how do you judge your camper centering when loading the camper?

Looks very cool. I guess you plan on some long off road trips. The diesel versions get over 800 km to a tank so in my case, I would go for storage but love how you've thought it all out. Looks great.
@KruseandViews
@KruseandViews 2 года назад
Thank you so much! Yes I wanted to maximize the storage but I needed that extra fuel on board. So I now have a range of about 1300 miles which is great for our needs. I appreciate you watching!!

Hey. Saw your truck for sale. And that you switching from Host truck camper to new platform. Would you mind sharing why the switch, and what you are switching to ? Cheers... just setting up my rig, so maybe still time for considerations...

How did they mount the underbody boxes? Did they drill up and bolt to the flatbed? Specifically on the aux fuel tank side? Thanks!
@KruseandViews
@KruseandViews 2 года назад
No we used L brackets and bolted them to the boxes and then to the corrugations on the bottom of the flatbed. Thank you so much for watching!

with the boxes mounted how do you use the tie downs for the camper. It seems the box lids would be in the way of the tie downs
@KruseandViews
@KruseandViews 2 года назад
Great question Michael, I had to mock up that boxes first and test the tie downs and you are right. Of they were to sit on the very edge of the flatbed then they would hit the boxes so we had to move them back 2 inches inwards. Now they have enough space to close. I will update with another video soon showing this. Thank you so much for watching!

How can I get my hands on one of those fuel tanks?
@richardcraine5722

Great videos, just started watching your stuff. I am a bit baffled though, These diesel trucks have plenty of range with a standard tank, You look like you are set up to go off road, I would think you would be 10 times more limited on the water you carry than the diesel.....please elaborate.

I asked this question on one of your other videos but have not gotten the answer from you. I want to do the same type of build as yours but I am concerned about the rear caliper and rotor being exposed to the road and elements. As you know, the inner dual wheel is the housing that typically protects these components. Have you had any issues with the inner rotor or caliper being hit by road debris or off-roading damage? Not sure if the companies have a retrofit to protect this stuff but it would be nice if somebody made something. Please let me know. Thanks
@KruseandViews
@KruseandViews 2 года назад
Hi there, I am had no issues with anything hitting the housing for the caliper & rotor. They housing on these components are very robust on the 5500. If I have any issues I will definitely update you on our channel.

I am running factory OEM shocks on all 4 corners. You know any companies that have an upgrade for these 5500s?

Was that a galvanized pipe fitting being used on the fuel tank? If it was, that is an extremely bad idea.
@KruseandViews
@KruseandViews 2 года назад
I believe it is but with the gasoline being so low in sulphur nowadays I don't see a major problem with it.

Hey, wouldn't having the aux fuel tank to one side mess with the balance, and thus handling, of your vehicle? You will now have approximately an additional 435 lbs on the left side of the vehicle + your weight.
@KruseandViews
@KruseandViews 2 года назад
Great question Ken, so I am running a RAM 5500 and it has a Payload capacity of 11,000 LBS. I also have a Kelderman Rear 2 Link air ride that has 10,000 LBS air bags with auto leveling. So having an additional 600 LBS on one side with this truck and the way it's set up will not be an issue. I also have 3 truck boxes on the other side that will also counteract the additional fuel tank weight. I appreciate you watching!
