As always, thanks so much for watching, all the support is so greatly appreciated

Hi Tom, that whole job just appeared to be one big struggle, the rad inside the kitchen unit, I’ve never seen that before. Yet again you sorted it and after the flush etc, the system appeared to be getting up to a better temperature. Well done to you both for getting that sorted, many would’ve just walked away. Take care Tom and I look forward to the next film. 👍👍👍

Thanks for the support as always Chris, the customer was delighted with the results, I think the main issue was balancing but the system did benefit from trvs and a full flush, hopefully it should be good for a good while now

I’m not a plumber but thought I’d have a go at changing radiators, I found most of the lock shields started leaking as soon as they were adjusted and once the roads were off I found most of the tails had to be redone as somebody in the past had massively over tightened the compression fitting and all the olives were deep in the pipe. I guess plumbers must come across this sort sh1t everyday

It is a jungle out there, the thing with even simple jobs they can go wrong or be awkward if you have been doing it for years, the only thing with experience it tends to make you more cautious and you start to know when things are going to go wrong, and you have a better ability to be in control and get over problems, thanks for watching Robin

Have you tried the through flush tom ? You a use a 3 port for a unvented as long as you have a 2 port on the coil flow . I went to one before Christmas had no hot water , the way it was wired it could never of worked. Someone had put the immersion heater on to disguise it, until the immersion failed and they had no hot water. You had a struggle with them rad valves, think the radiator in the cupboard I would have lifted it up 3 inch . Make it easier
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 6 месяцев назад
I have made my own type of thorough flush with tees and washing machine hoses to connect onto boiler jigs, it is good for mains flushing. You are correct about the 3 port with the 2 port for unvented, I personally don't like y plans that much and normally only install s plans, thanks for the support as always, it is greatly appreciated

@PlumbLikeTom

Thanks for the support mate, the rothenburger ones seem particularly prone to tracking I find, I'm not sure if the wheel goes slightly out of alignment meaning it tends to not go straight around the pipe, it is so annoying when it happens

Incredible how simple jobs can be turned so hard in this kind of game.. Do you find stuff leaks a lot when you have to get on to crusty old painted pipes like this? Same in electrics btw when cables get old and the wires are hard, such a pain
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 6 месяцев назад
Thanks for the support mate, sometimes you can disturb existing joints on these older systems and cause a leak, if I'm joining onto old pipework as long as everything is clean you should be Ok, I'm not saying I've never had a leak though

Nice one Tom, if you have a magna clean on your heating system do you still need a inhibitor fluid as well?
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 5 месяцев назад
Yes, the inhibitor helps to stop corrosion and the magna clean only picks up existing system dirt, they do act as a handy dosing point but every system still needs inhibitor for boiler warranties, thanks for watching as always mate

Why should you not put a lever valve on a cold feed?
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 5 месяцев назад
Technically the feed pipe can act as a vent as well, you won't see drawings in plumbing books with valves on cold feeds as in the event of the vent becoming blocked or restricted the feed will also vent, most plumbers do though and it has become standard practice by plumbers even though it is technically wrong, thanks for watching
