Another Christmas episode from Italy for you. This time I'm preparing a traditional dish Italians eat at Christmas time - tortellini in brodo. I don't understand it either... The sheer effort, thought, planning, time and creativity which goes into these videos is mind boggling.. I never thought in my life I would be looking forward to each Friday simply to watch a video... The quality and content is outstanding sometimes... I hope your guests understand the amount of work that went into that meal. My mother used to have a meat grinder that was metal, perhaps stainless steel. She and my aunt used it to grind meat and liver to make dumplings. My family is German and she used to make traditional German dishes, but she never wrote down her recipes except for her wonderful butter and almond spritz cookies. When she died I never did come across the meat grinder ,but I found her heavy cast iron roasting pan and every time I use it I'm reminded of her. So, it's important to write down the recipes to pass onto the next generation. Kylie knows this and these videos showing family recipes is something I really enjoy.

It is so fulfilling to see you both working together in the kitchen. It’s a lot of work and hopefully he appreciates how much work goes into making tortellini! I find it most all my Italian recipes are very time consuming. Nothing is done quickly. Italian cooking is not fast paced and fast food. But it has lots of love that goes into it. Bravissimo

My mother, my wife, my daughter and her fiancé made tortellini last week at my mothers house for the holidays. The first couple of hundred were beautiful, but the wine started to make the shapes of the last two hundred or so unusual and funny looking. I’m afraid it happens every year... I’m sure they will all be equally delicious though. Have a wonderful holiday Kylie, and enjoy every day to the fullest.

Ahh, I remember my mom had my grandma's old mince rollie machine. It was all metal and I think it could be attached to the table like a vice clamp. My mom's later model was red, like yours, but it had a suction cup mechanism at the bottom, because not everyone has a Guido ❤️. It must be so much fun to prepare food or craft together... 😍. You two are so adorable. I'm envious.

Wait...what am I missing? I thought her kitchen was different. I'm thinking of the little kitchen with the blue stenciling and her antique oven. Does she have two homes on the property? Hi Lynn, you might have missed the Renovating a Ruin series on my channel where I explain that we’re doing renovations on a farm so we’ve living between our usual home near Florence (with the blue and white tiled kitchen) and the farm two hours away (with the open fireplace in the kitchen). Kylie...when I used to cook with my Grandmother and we used a meat grinder we used a peeled potato. If a little got in the meat the potato just added to the minced meat!

This was such a great episode. I just loved seeing the two of them prepare the meal together in such a relaxed and congenial way. New love is so pleasant. Us old married folks would probably have had an argument or two during that lengthy process, LOL! It’d be great if Kylie would share the names of the wines they drink. Italian reds are my favorite.

Thank you Kylie for this video. My mother is from Verona. She used to make tortellini en brood just as you did. She has Alzheimer’s now and doesn’t cook. But your video brought me right back to helping her with the filling and pasta stretching. I think it’s my turn to make the tortellini now

This episode reminded me of the one you filmed on the Eolie Islands (my most favourite episode). You and your husband were cooking outside, and were having so much fun; the exchanges between you two were lovely, very funny. As to the tortellini recipe, my! I know a good place "a Torino" where they sell them and are as good as homemade!
