Here I am 12 years later looking for this recipe. I always used Laura's recipe as a new bride when I had my first son. 14 years and 3 boys later and my husband still love this cake recipe. Love you Laura. ❤

Laura first time I watched this video. I have been a subscriber for over three years. I have made several of your recipes. I have to say that I love this video the best. I think it is amazing to do a recipe that was your mother's. I wish I had written all the great recipes my mom did when she was alive but when ever I am craving a specific recipe that my mother had made I search for videos from your channel. Best, delicious, easy cake ever! So far i have made this cake every day since I found your recipe. I made one for my husband to take to work for him and his co-workers. He said everyone loved it and now wants me to make it for him every friday to take to work. I used vanilla, plain, and rasberry yogurts and all are pretty good. Thanks a bunch!

Made this traditional italian pound cake using Laura's recipe, used lemon yoghurt and orange zest as two variations, and it is so delicious!!! Wow! Thank you, Laura!

I baked this cake last night by following quantity of 1/2 cup 4oz. It was really delicious. I changed few of ingredients like I used plain yogurt, 1tsp vanilla extrat, 1tbsp more sugar and 1/2 lemon juice. Everyone in my family enjoyed this cake.

It's the first cake I made. My mom tought me this recipe when I was 6 maybe 5. Now I'm 24 and it's always my favorit cake and I think, it's the cake which every mother must teach to their children. Personally I prefer this cake with almond powder and some drops of almond extract.

This cake turned out awesome. What's the best part? Less calories from fat. It does not use a lot of butter (uses yogurt for moisture.) I used coconut oil and made it without any butter at all. Was the best cake!! Topped it with lemon icing and this one is a keeper :))

Anh Hoang-Le the coconut oil should not be used in the same quantity as the butter. I don’t remember how much I used at the time but probably 1/4 or 1/3 of the butter laura used is good since coconut oil would turns out oilier.

Love this cake, now I use two different recipees, the first one I learned form my mother starting when I was only four years old. It is an unbeatable classic rich, luxurious cake wich will remain my absolute number one till the end of times but this recipee is an excelent number two. I made it with with selfraising flour and no lemonzest, gotta work with what you have on hand and it works. It is so easy and quick; I love it, thank you for sharing it!

oh my gosh - laura - i made this last night.. it took all of 10 minutes tops to get in the oven -- there is none left!!! i brought it to work and it got DEVOURED!! DELICIOUSSSS

This cake is so simple and delicious its insane! I made it last week with lime yogurt, very good to day I prepared it with the vanilla omg it is sooo good. I plan on slicing on the thin side and topping with strawberries and whipped topping. Although it definitely is excellent as a stand alone dessert! Laura thank you so much for sharing this very delicious cake! p.s. I am going to try lemon yogurt for a summer desert. the possibilities are endless lol Thanks again for sharing moms recipe with us!

just made this cake following your recipe... it took almost 1 hour and 20 mins to bake it completely from middle. But the results are awesome!!! that slight lemony flavor gives it such a special taste. Thanks a lot for sharing recipe it with us. Recipe is easy to follow too :)

I made this ,with less oil,and a little less sugar, and it was wonderful. i sifted the flour to make the cake lighter, and i used 1 tsp of baking powder instead of the other thing laura used, and i used 2 tsp of vanilla ,and zest of i lemon. I like that it uses oil ( i use canola) ,and not butter. it tasted awsome.Who needs butter?

Wow, you know, I think you may have hit the nail on the head there.One other detail I forgot to mention is that the first time,I used the yoghurt container to measure but the other times,I used the scales& multiplied 170x3 to get the flour amount. I knew it was the flour causing issues& had a feeling liquid-to-dry conversion was playing a part but couldnt get beyond that. Im so glad you took the time to reply - will give it one final shot tomorrow - and let you know how it went! =)

Hi Laura,this cake is great. So yummy. So glad you found this recipe. Easy and amazingly delicious. I just made it and hubby and me ate half right out of the oven. Didn’t get a chance to glaze it yet. The fresh lemon is so delicious. I never use the extract. I share the same thoughts as you about the disinfectant taste.

I made this cake yesterday instead of the vanilla powder i added vanilla essence and baking powder it came out very well it was soft and light...Thanks laura for sharing this great recipe!

I made this twice in the week. You are right, Laura. This is the BEST pound cake recipe ever and so simple and easy I memorized the recipes after first use. My only issue is that if you bake it in my oven like it says here 350 F is too hot for the cake. I like my pound cake yellow to brownish color. There is noting wrong with it but I don't like crust in my bread and it reminds of my cake having a crust. so, I reduce the temperature to 315 and my cake came out just the way I like it. Thanks.

When I was a kid, a big treat for us was getting one of those Sara Lee pound cakes. Just made this tonight and it is fantastic. So simple to make, no need to ever buy it. Had to stop by the store to get the lemon and yogurt. Everything else is stuff most people already have. I only let it cool for 40 minutes before I had to cut me a slice.

I've made this twice so far now and every single time it comes out great! I had to convert 170 grams cuz I don't have that yogurt cup butter other than that it's delicious! 😋😋 Laura, u give me hope of being a good chef in the kitchen and you never cease to amaze me! 💖

I've made this so many times... always wonderful! I use self rising flour and eliminate the baking soda and salt. Also have used lemon yogurt... the best! P.S. If you can wait... so much better the next day!!!

We have a Italian grocery here and they had it. I also saw it on amazon when I was looking. The pound cake is very moist and everyone loved it.

It's similar to a cake I make called Sand Cake it's so good I use one container of yogurt and with the same container I fell 3/4 of it with sugar and add it and then 2 full container of flour and 1/2 of vegetable oil and 3 eggs and a spoon of baking powder,mix them all together and put it in the oven to cook and after it's done I pour the sweetened condensed milk over it and it well absorb it and become moist and delicious and then I top it with roasted semolina Try it I'm sure you'll love it

I made this cake today but only had lemon yoghurts at 115g. I used 2 lemon yoghurts (230g), 230g veg oil, 460g sugar, 690g flour, 4 eggs, vanilla essence, 3 teaspns of baking powder with the zest of 1 large lemon. The mixture made 2 loaf cakes and was awesome. Not as high in height as Laura's and took just 40 minutes in the oven. So so good. Beware: don't over mix the batter or produces a denser cake.

Hi laura, I made this cake and it turned out delicious! However, it cracked up from the top and wasn't brown from the top either? Pls tell me what should I do to prevent it for the next time. Otherwise, it was just splendid! Keep up with the good work!!! xxxx

i really like how you're using the container as a measuring cup. In my family my mom has always used like a certain bowel or cup to measure things rather than an actual measuring cup that we will have in the cabinets.

I made this yesterday and WOW is it delicious! Strangely, it tasted better the NEXT day than when I first made it- plus I found my loaf pan to be far too small for this batter- but rather than get a bigger one, I think I'll just make two of this gorgeousness next time- YUMMY!

In Spain we call this "bizcocho de yogur" and it's very common, it's definitely my go-to recipe for pound cake! Sometimes I put just two eggs and only a measurement of sugar if I want to reduce the calories a little, and it's still super yummy! And this accepts a lot of flavorings as well! Almond extract, pumpkin pie spice, orange...
