when i bought my ex minibus ..with 80000miles on it ..i got a mechanic to do the cam belt and water pump.. tbh ive no idea if he actually did it .. just have to belive him and hope he did... he told me the tensioner pulley bearing was loose so had that done as well , at a later date , but as the tensioner pulley itself was proving to be a pain to get off i never put the new one on ...your a very brave man...this sorta stuff fills my heart with dread..so much to go wrong ...thanks for the great channel

I was hoping that I think you are right also I have heard should you get a fault with Cambelt it doesn’t do any damage to the valves Not something I would put to the test

Cheers Chris, having look through the service manual, they seem to be service for life, no I didn't change mine as the engine has only done 95k, but I may replace it in the near future for peace of mind bud 😉👌👍👍👍...

I’ve got the same van how much should it cost to change the cam belt/timing belt and water pump at a garage mine is on 132,000 so would of thought it has been done but was thinking of getting it done

I can't give you a price as the only time I use garage's, are for when the van needs an MOT. but I safely say an days labour (an experienced mechanic could change the belt and pump between 3 to 6 hrs, depending how they tackle the job and what issues they come across like seized bolts, seized crankshaft pulley and so on, but setting aside a day's labour would cover this), and the cost of parts (new coolant, and belt kit) 😉👍👍👍.

Hi I have a 2.3 2005 Daily 35s12 I don't know if it's the same model engine as yours, mines a F1AE0481B. I've been going crazy trying to identify what looks like the wheel/cog that I think you have the ratched on at the beginning of your video at 1.16. It's definitely a belt tensionor wheel but mine is only about 5cms diameter and a cm thick. Can it be that I only have the metal bearing part left and the rest of the wheel has come apart? The one they've given me here in Germany from a parts shop is mostly plastic and 7cms across/diameter. Maybe that's why I couldn't ID the part because my old one is smaller? Any suggestions would be more than helpful. Looks easy enough to swap once I figure out how to keep the tension off and undo the nut at the same time. Are they the normal anti clockwise to undo?

Great video. Thank you. Fiat says to replace the timing belt on the Ducato at 192000km or 5 years (regardless of km). Do you think these belts and tensioner can only last 5 years or they can go a lot longer if you don't do many km? Cheers

Probably the reason why Fiat say 5 years (believe its the same with Iveco) is down to the rubber of the belt deteriorates over time, so obviously they have to give a time period to cover their own backs 😉👌👍.

@@maem3391 I think it was 4 years old at the time but I couldn't see in the history of the van, when or if the water pump had been replaced in the past. My van had 315.000 miles at the time.

Excellent tutorial video mate! I have some questions. Does the Daily use Fiat Ducato engines? Including the 3.0 liter diesel? Which engine(s) and what years are the most reliable and durable Daily engines and transmission? Which engine uses timing CHAIN? Thanks and well done mate!

Cheers bud, yes, in mine is the fiat ducato 2.3 Lt engine. All of the Iveco engines seem to be reliable & capable in doing over 500k. The 3lt is the chain driven one, both the 2.3lt & 2.8lt are the belt driven ones. Rust is the bigger killer then the drive gear to be fair on the older models, but you have more electronics to worry about on the newer models 😉👍👍👍...

Does the 2.3 liter diesel have enough power on steep mountain climbs on a full load? I think yours is the long wheelbase. How much weight can your van carry? And do all 3.0 liter diesels come with six wheels? Are dually tires at the back better for stability and distribution of weight? What website has all the specs for the 2000-2006 Daily?

@@IkeCantle the 2.3lt is perfectly fine, I often go up Sutton bank with no issues, mine is a 35s-12 (3.5ton, Index 'S' = light chassis of 3mm thickness and single wheel rear axle 12= 120hp or there abouts ) and if your wanting a luton it probably will come with dual wheeled rear axle and yes, better stability, any iveco with C index (heavy duty thicker chassis of 5mm) do come with the dual wheel rear axle. Best websites, probably best ones are on the Facebook groups, there's an list of them, in the description of my van tour video bud 😉👌👍👍👍.

This info is very helpful as I knew nothing about the Iveco Daily. I am more familiar with the Sprinter van, but I read somewhere that the Iveco Daily is more robust than the Sprinter. I like solidly built products that last a long time. Thanks so much and I'm really impressed with your van build. It shows you knew what you were doing.

hello local garages say they are unable to change timing belt on my 2.3 euro 6 engine as they told me it needs special tools?? only seem to get fiat dealership to do it!!!

@@Iveavan when I’m on the motorway and reach 60 it’s has if the van just wonders and and you have to concentrate to keep it steady but when I’m at say 50 to 55 it’s real steady I’ve had it in the garage on the ramps and everything is tight and nothing loose I do get a vibration from 50 to 60 then if I push to 63 vibration goes I’m thinking center bearing on propshaft Ive never had an Iveco before always had transits thought I would change to bigger van it’s all done out now has a camper just annoying to not do 60 or above if you have any ideas I’d be great full thanks

Try Swapping the front wheels for the back ones (make sure the tyre pressure is set right for each axle) and see if the vibration and wandering goes, if this doesn't cure it, I'd be inclined to take it to an tyre specialist for them to carry out tracking, and get them to check out the steering and suspension front and back, if the vibration still there after Swapping the wheels over it could be the case that the wheels need balancing or your propshaft centre bearing, the rubber coupling that the propshaft bolts on to, or one of the UJ's is worn 😉👍.

@@Iveavan hi thank you for your advice had the rear wheels done and one wheel was buckled so had them balanced now it drives at 70 no problem so thank you still got the vibration I’m thinking center propshaft bearings are they hard to change

Great video I have been told I have a timing chain problem even tho it got done 8 months ago 😂🤷‍♂️ fiat ducato 3.0 auto 59 plate starts fine no issues but won’t start when warm only way to fire up is remove camshaft sensor plug to get it started. guy at the garage says timing issue even tho I know it’s been done. What’s making me question this tho is if a chain issue why does it start and run fine until you turn it off? that’s the only issue I get run once it won’t start until cools down 20 mins time wtf is happening lol

I had the same issue with mine about 2 years ago, drives and starts fine when cold but either cuts out or will not start when at operating temperature. It turned out to be the crankshaft sensor, been running fine since I've replaced that 😉👌👍👍👍.

@@Iveavan yes that’s what the code is buddy p0340 and p0016 but 😂 also code p0053 p2243 both camshaft and crankshaft sensor got changed yesterday still codes and warm start issue . Told me they have no idea 2 mechanics now said sorry can’t help. Guy today said last thing is timing chain he reckons a mistake must have been made first time 6k miles ago maybe a tooth out. I just find it strange when these bonnets let so much water in Think a auto electrician needs to see it

With out seeing it in person it's gonna be hard to diaognose upon here, but from the sounds of it, your going down the right route with a Auto sparky, hazarding a guess, quite possibly a wiring fault some where🤔 probably worth in seeing whether or not the timing pins will align to discount the suspect timing issue (I'm not familiar with the timing chain set up myself) 👌👍👍👍...

@@Iveavan thanks buddy I will try get someone to look if pins lined up, apparently getting a auto electrician to check is like a needle in a haystack Maybe a complete new engine wiring harness be better . I seem to be getting a lot of sensor issues . Ecu checked and is fine continuity done on camshaft sensor all fine it’s a weird one . But I’m told just because I’m getting phase and lambda sensor codes doesn’t mean that’s the issue it could be map sensor . One of those jobs I supposed buying and changing different sensors until find the correct one
