This class will focus on different poses in Iyengar yoga you can do as part of your practice to release tension and create space in the back. The lower back and neck area of the spine can be very mobile. The mid-back has the opposite problem. It is a more difficult area to address given incorrect postural habits and generally not being aware of what to do to bring correct movement to the area. In this Iyengar sequence, you will experience which poses and actions you can do to undue stresses and prevent tension that comes from your lifestyle.

Dear Fernanda, So happy to hear from you and especially you were released from the strain of your upper back. Often the poses we do for any part of the back will help with the entire back. The spinal column is so interconnected and many poses especially the twists will give needed relief. What is important is to create space, length and balance. Happy that happened for you. Now you job is to see what is causing that imbalance, lack of space and compression. Continue to be curios and observe in your practice.

Hi Duygu, congratulations! Being pregnant can cause a lot of pressure on the back, pelvis and legs. When practicing keep your legs hips width, make sure not to compress the abdomen (more a concave back), No twisting except Bharadvajasana, and open twist of Mariyasana 1. Avoid deep forward bends and of course listen to your body. Practicing can help you strengthen, release stress and by creating the opening and tone needed in the body to make delivery easier.
