It’s sucks to see this. He wants to win, he wants to play, but his body is breaking down on him. Prime deGrom will always be one of the best pitchers in the game.
i truly believe we could have seen multiple no-hitters and even perfect games in his career yet he will be looked at as one of the most and biggest what-ifs in sports history not just baseball history.
@@alexanaya1457 nah hes a hall of fame pitcher so hes done enough. perfect games dont matter really for legacy, not for the all time greats like deGrom. he was the best pitcher since pedro martinez. i wish he was a met still even with the injuries
It's a shame, as a Yankees fan, I always rooted for him when he pitched for the Mets, so much talent....I hope he recovers fast and gets back to play baseball again next year.
We love you Jacob. Injuries are just unfortunately apart of the game. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you on the mound for the Rangers again.
It was a more prevalent part of his game because he's too stubborn and competitive to not dial it to 110% every pitch. This is why the Mets didn't really even try to keep him despite him having more talent than anyone out there. Hope he comes back strong because there's no one more fun to watch pitch. Not Ohtani, not Cole not Scherzer, this guy's the best. It sucks.
He doesn't deserve what he's gone through, you can see how badly he wants to be out there. He has a lot of time left as a Ranger to rewrite the narrative that's followed him so far
As a die hard Mets fan watching this hurts my heart… I know he’s been hurt the last few years but I wouldn’t wish anything bad on him just cause he went to another team. Get well soon and I hope his career ends on a positive note, not like this.
Next to Seaver. Jake was our next greatest pitcher which says alot from a team that had Koosman, Ryan, Gooden. Wish him nothing but the best in his recovery.
I know how I felt to see him leave, I have had the honor to watch Jake pitch roughly 25 times over his career. I was hurt but this here is on another level. Get well Jake.
i think you mean pure greed. he wanted 50 mil a year being injury prone for the last 3 years. stop it already. i'm a Mets fan but he turned his back on us.
I feel bad for the guy! Even though I’m an Astros fan, it pains me to see such a great player and seemingly great guy to have to go through this. I’ll be supporting his comeback next year.
when he was diagnosed with an elbow injury / forearm tightness back in 2021, I said he’s gonna need TJ eventually. surprised he lasted 2 years before actually getting it. chances are he was waiting for his big deal until he got the surgery. the bloke keeps throwing fastballs at 101 and sliders at 92 deep into games. hate it for him and sucks to see him break down physically and emotionally yet I saw it coming.
Harold Steinblatt 0 seconds ago I was very upset to see him leave the Mets; this is an artist, a generational talent. Watching him pitch (and hit) was a privilege. Now, seeing a man who holds his emotions close to the vest crying is just brutal.
This freakin sucks, at this point I genuinely feel terribly for the guy. Hoping for a speedy and proper recovery, I hope he comes back and gets even better.
this is rough, man. he's already had to deal with so many injuries these past few years and now he's out for over a year, can't help but feel for the guy, it hurts that we as fans don't get to see him play, but he himself must feel so beat down by it all at this point, i just hope this doesn't rob him of his passion for the game and he's able to come back as his elite self
We love you Grom, and we know how you love the game since you were drafted by the mets, i know you are praying keep it up, you gave us great games in NY and others states, we love you, get some rest and we will see you next year on the mound!!!!
I feel so badly for Jake. I'm a Mets fan, and as much as it hurt to see him sign elsewhere, he's one of ours. This was very hard for me to watch. I feel for you, 48. I hope you heal fast and come back strong!
What a great pitcher , wish we could have had him in the Bronx . Hope he recovers and makes a strong comeback .. feel bad for him and the Rangers they have a great team this year
I'm sorry for Jake. As a Mets fan, I'll always root for him as long as he's not playing my Mets. Big props to him for appearing before the media when it was clearly difficult for him. Now leave the guy alone FFS and give him some peace.
We've been following Jake from New York and this is so tragic. It's painful to see him like this. A third Tommy John surgery...if there wasn't so much pressure to throw every pitch over 100mph. I hope his career isn't over.
It is such a difficult thing to be a pitcher. So much is riding on something as unnatural as throwing a ball (especially with the velocity deGrom has thrown). I hope Jac has a thing(s) outside of his family that can give him something close to the enjoyment he gets from pitching. It was quite the buzz as a Met fan viewing him doing what he could do when he was in peak form.
As a Mets fan I’m glad we didn’t resign him but I also wished him nothing but the best. Hate to see him going through this AGAIN and is out for another year. DeGrom is such a great pitcher I hope we see him back and competing next year.
Mets fan, Jake fan. Wish him the best, and wish he was still back home with us, even with the injury. Not great for the team, true. But once family, always family.
Watching degrom pitch with the Mets was always an event. I would want to watch every pitch he threw. It sucks that his body has just started giving out on him the last few years. When healthy, I don’t think there has ever been anyone better and more dominant
Agreed. How frustrating was it to watch how when he pitched the Mets offense shut down. Pitched to a sub 2 ERA and struggle to have a winning record. Yet in post game interviews he was alway a gentlemen about the lack of support. Sad since with this Texas offense a circa 2019 DeGrom could easily win 20 games.
As a lifelong Mets fan scince 1984, he is the best I have ever seen. I know there is a lot of hate around Jake spurning the Mets to go to Texas. I was crushed when he left but you never want to see anyone get hurt to this magnitude. He will always be blue and orange to me!!!
I said this would happen the day he signed with the Rangers. It was so obvious he needed TJ last year but wanted to wait until after getting his big contract to deal with it
I think we all know it is a lingering injury during these years, but he just pitched so well and had strong intentions to be on the mound, so they chose to take conservative treatments every time until it really explodes... Wish deGrom & Rangers all the best, really hope to see him come back with 100% healthy, he is the best pitcher on the planet for sure.
Met fan here… Hate seeing the guy go through this. When he’s healthy, that’s the most dominant pitcher you’ll ever see take the mound. Hope to see a resurgence post surgery.
As a lifelong Met fan. I watched Jacob come up through the Farm System and Develop into one of the Greatest Pitchers I ever saw. I am deeply saddened by this and I hope he comes back better than ever in 25, Who Knows ?? Maybe he comes back as a relief pitcher that develops into an Elite closer ALA ( John Smoltz)
In 2018 I helped Jacob catapult his career teaching him my football slider. My Grip, Tilt and wrist action for that pitch I taught hundreds of ML pitchers like Cole, Ohtani, deGrom, Glasnow, Rodon, Musgrove....is On center grip, throw like a football, stiff wrist. I got Jacob the big contract like the others above, but his Grip, Tilt and Wrist action for some reason isn't perfect and breaking down the last 4 years. If he doesn't fix it he will need a 3rd TJohn. Best Regards, Roger Beshens
