Very nice video. Helped me prepare for Bio 105 Exam #3 at my school. Not too sophisticated or elaborate, but simple and straightforward is the way to go!!! Solid. Will you give away your name?

How can there be so many lactose molecules in the cell when lac-Y hasn't be transcribed to make the enzyme that gets it into the cell in the first place?
@stavshmueli6932

Hey, this answer is taken from the Khan Academy comments on the video: "The repressor does bind to the operon really tightly, but, in the absence of lactose, it will occasionally dissociate. This allows the transcription of lactose permease, so that lactose may enter the cell and induce the system for a more prolonged length of time." Cheers (Although almost 1 Year late)

do you mean to use "Transcription" as you do along side RNA Polymerase? or wouldn't that be "translation"?

Isn't it Allolactose that binds to the repressor, not Lactose?
@Viviancarmody
@Viviancarmody 8 месяцев назад
allolactose binds to lacl (repressor) which binds to lacO (you are correct)
