I feel like McCants has always been standing on business and calling it how he sees/saw it. Even if he’s wrong, you can see that he’s not just making a bullshit argument, just a different perspective. The others(besides Kenyon) have biases and will craft arguments just to win even if their completely wrong. Kareem wasn't the main guy in the Back to Back chips in 87 and 88. He was one of the top components but Magic won finals MVP in 87 and Worth won it in 88 and Magic was the leader of those teams. We all know Magic won finals MVP in 80, but I will say Kareem was the main guy.

By 1986 at the absolute latest it was crystal clear that Magic was better than Kareem. He was was hands down the better player when they won their final two championships in '87 & 88. He was absolutely the main guy on those teams.

I think Gil is having a hard time differentiating superstar and a mega star. You dont have to transcend the sport to be a superstar. Duncan, Dirk, Nash etc are superstars that dont get recognized outside of sports.Just bc you’re not bron, Kd, Steph doesnt mean you’re not one.

Superstar kinda have to have the total packages from both off the court and on the court. Ant Edwards is a superstar cause he got a great game, Basketball attitude that the NBA been missing, and a personality that can sell.

I get both sides. Gil's superstar definition is marketability. But his criteria to exclude is accomplishments. That doesn't make sense at all. However, how superstars are created doesn't follow any logic or script. They are chosen and pushed based on the package.

Gil's Magic argument makes no sense. He wants to say that Magic's Final's MVP (First one) was only cause Kareem got hurt. Then when BJ mentions he has 2 more, Gil says "that only means he's the best player in the FINALS. FINALS MVP means you're best in the Finals" well, Magic also has 3 regular season MVPs, but he doesn't want to mention that part for some reason.

@@galactic4830 1st off Jalen was the First Option as soon as he arrived in NY. Secondly Non of those Wizards teams made it past the first round. Gil was a great scorer during his run I'll never take that away but Jalen is a way better leader than him.
