I've never understood the mockery he gets, he has a beautiful voice and a great sense of humour. This though breaks my heart.
@Xamontt

They hate on him because he is not crap.....I mean rap.......or yelling screaming metal, if you notice the ones mocking him are the young generation who seem to have an issue with songs having something to say, they want mindless, sounds all the same crap.

@@Xamontt Perhaps. There is a lot o ignorance about. I remember the flak Abba got back in the day by ignorant DJs for instance, on the radio. Which they have since retracted.

It’s foolish to make fun of a man who is sensitive and honest with his emotions. People look at it as weak but takes strength to feel those emotions.
@Hawksmere
@Hawksmere 2 года назад
His bravery is ironically why people mock him. He has fought in wars and is a respected soldier and seems to be a very courages and compassionate man/son. People always belittle what they cannot be. The ignorant is his own fool.

His father had previously donated a kidney and then developed kidney failure in that remaining kidney. He couldn’t find a match and wasn’t expected to survive. Then because of this video a distant cousin got tested and found he was a matching donor. His father is now well and this actually was the first time his dad had heard the song…

Its even more powerful when you know the story.. His dad was dying of kidney failure when he recorded this.. Luckily they found a donor. The only one not crying in the room was his dad, who said"Im still here" after. The record company wanted to autotune his voice, but james said no, he wanted the raw passion left in. He was right.. Gets me everytime😢😢

That is James's dad in the video, he found out he had stage four kidney disease, the song is James's way of expressing his feelings, (both of them are ex-forces and British) we don't show our emotions much. Thankfully, a donor was found and so his father will hopefully recover. For anyone who has lost a parent (or another loved one) this song strikes such a cord deep in our heart. its both a beautiful song, and a sad song rolled into one.

I agree with you somewhat but we don't show our emotions much UNLESS ITS YOUR LOVE ONE. This is how we live our lives when it hits home. This song on one hand is so emotional I cried my eyes out all day listened to it over and over it was as if it was written for me when I said goodbye to my father. However James felt the pain of having to almost loose his father and that was his song but by being 2 ex military men how many sons did they cause to have to sing this same song that was OK until it comes home then its sad. That's why we should live our lives as if others cry for their love one also. But good song. I see you tried to relate and give a reaction but you reaction came across as not knowing what to feel nor how to react. In time someone in your life will put you at this same door and it will hit you like a ton of bricks and then come back and give your reaction.

@@arnoldjones5517 Hi Arnold, at first I thought you were being very nice and sincere until I continued to read your post. Then you just got personal without even knowing me and my circumstances. I lost my first loved one when I was 13 to suicide. By the time I was 18 I had been to a dozen funerals for family members (Grand parents and others). I was in the Military myself for over a decade and saw my own fill of death and casualties. I lost my mum ten years ago, my dad is gravely ill with several chest problems, which cannot be cured and is just a matter of time. Because of Covid I have been unable to travel to see him. In Dec we lost my mother inlaw to COVID, and my wife and Father in law were also in bed for weeks with the illness, while I spent five weeks alone in my house. SO I know exactly what James is singing about, perhaps you should keep your comments restricted to the video your watching, and not judge other peoples comments until you know their circumstances.

@@chrisduncan7257 Chris you are right and I absolutely apologize I had no right to judge you I don't know your story, sometimes we get it wrong and I am sorry. From my heart i never mean to step on someones own feelings I must learn that some people don't display their pain. Once again I'm sorry. I took the song so personal my father and one day prior to seeing the song my friend died I was hurting and I guess I lashed out. To all you subscribers and yourself I publicly say I'm sorry.

@@arnoldjones5517 Hi Arnold, first and foremost I am sorry to hear of your loss. Its never easy loosing a loved one. It affects us in many ways, and there is no rule book or manual on loss. I hope you have sufficient support and people around you to help you get through this tough time in your life. Secondly I would like to thank you for your apology, in this internet age it is very easy to forget there are other people writing comments. I am as guilty as the next person. To take the time to reply and apologise shows me the human behind the comments. I thank you for your words. apology accepted captain needa (Sorry huge Star Wars geek)

Death comes to us all, we don't have a say in that, but you can tell the ones you care about that you love them, you're proud of them, and they mean the world to you. James stated it's a waste of a eulogy to say it after the person it is meant for can't hear it. That's why he sung his eulogy to his dad. He's really a funny guy.

It is not just about immediate loss, it is about becoming a man and role reversal. You being strong for someone that used to be strong for for. The abolition of fixed roles, just two men dealing with stuff at the end of the day

His father was dying when this video was made, the video it seems brought a kidney donor forward who was a match and his father is still alive. Both were high ranking officers in the British army, so a very stiff upper lip and no apparent emotions. Every emotion in this video is real, you can see it is....

@@clowndodger6322 I agree. I did not have much of a relationship with my dad after I grew up (and even before that as I only saw him occasionally growing up). I had decided to make an effort to include him more in my life. Had started calling and talking to him more frequently and made the drive over to see him on December 23 to have take him out for breakfast and celebrate Christmas. Made arrangements to meet up on his birthday January 15th. Never got the chance. He had a stroke on Christmas. After a week, we thought he was going to make it and was scheduled to go to a rehab unit, but had a cardiac arrest at the hospital the morning he was supposed to be released. They managed to revive him, but the damage to his ribs and lungs were severe and did not respond to treatment. He asked for them to stop treatment and allow him to pass. I sat at his bedside and talked to him until he was gone. His funeral was on his birthday. I have so much I wish I could have said and regret not making the time beforehand. We both made mistakes in out relationship, but I am still living with mine

Thank you for your comment . I know it wasn't aimed at me but I lost my mum to cancer on 16th March this year .. I never got the opportunity to tell my mum how much I loved her or how much she meant to me. I have always found it hard to express how I feel . The only person I have now is my dad. We have never been the type of family to express love verbally . I will always live with the hatred for myself for not telling my mum how much she meant to me . So thank you again for your comment . When I get up later today I'm going to tell my dad that I love him . God Bless.

I love your approach of inclusivity in doing reaction videos. Very nice! I’m a much older music hound, and I love to turn people on to hidden gems, especially older ones. I realize that hidden gems won’t get hundreds of requests like recent gems, but I’ll list a few lesser known songs that I believe are worthy of your reaction, just in case . . . . 1) The Last Song by Brian Wilson (fairly recent); 2) And Still, The Darkness Comes by Aron Wright (fairly recent); 3) I Gaer by Sigur Ros (recent song by brilliant Icelandic band); 4) Indigo Passion by Atlanta Rhythm Section (older hidden gem); 5) Bang The Drum Slowly by Emmylou Harris (older gem); 6) Where Are You (I Am Already Gone) by Kate Tucker. I hope you’ll try a few. Thanks. DH
