James Brown may not have been a "perfect" man, but on stage I think it can be argued that there was never a better singer/bandleader/performer. It was all there.

How in the World have I never saw this before? This made my day. Funk will live forever. Bootsy don't get enough credit for changing James style and along with James Bootsy is the father of Funk.

What about George Clinton? Funkadelic's first album was 1970. And that ish was raw, uncut funk
@hueylove6785
@hueylove6785 10 лет назад
I think George and Bootsy are the funkiest men in the world but James was doing it first. Bootsy also influenced George music to a whole different level. Gorge music changed for the better when Bootsy got on board.
@UngratefulLiving420
@UngratefulLiving420 10 лет назад
Huey Faggins For sure, James was the OG. But in your original comment you said "along with James, Bootsy is the father of funk" so I just thought Dr. Funkenstein belongs in that sentence as well
@UngratefulLiving420
@UngratefulLiving420 10 лет назад
But when I listen to Parliament, it's not George, but Bootsy's Space Bass that won't let me keep still. Still, George's production skills can't be overlooked. It's no coincidence that "Freaky Styley" is my favorite RHCP album

I think it comes down to entitlement. Entitled people tend not to enjoy what's right in front of them in that moment, and are constantly thinking about what they want in the future. Instant gratification and all that. The typical entitled white Americans (and yes, I am one of them, I just realize how boring and "unfunky", as George Clinton would say, we can be) tend to be the ones demanding that the band play that one hit song that the radio overplays, and get angry and can't enjoy themselves until the band plays it. Those who aren't entitled enjoy all of the grooves for what they are, enjoy the moment for what it is, and overall have a better time and dance more. If you watch an old parliament/funkadelic concert in LA, Oakland or dc and compare it to some of their concerts in rural/suburban America, it's night and day when it comes to the crowd energy.
