When someone asks are you happy outside the LDS church ? That Implies somehow the church is/was responsible for my happiness . That’s codependency. Whether or not I have happiness/joy in my life is not on the church . A better question is are you better off having left the LDS church ? Getting away from the toxic - yes much better off . 2. Leaving the LDS Church does not mean you have left Jesus. Jesus is not the LDS church .

Some people are more concerned with feeling good and being secured than with truth!

At 10:52. I never minded the adults bearing their testimony on freedom of speech day. I did find it coercive how their children would bear a testimony at the pulpit all the time being directed what to say by their parent.

I feel like an update on this lady would be helpful as well not that it would steer anybody another way.

I was one of the people Janet converted to the church while on her mission in Toronto.

Was Monson or Ballard the mission president back then?

@@user-og2wt3le4j It was Ballard. He became a general authority soon after I joined.

Exactly, what is this Bill? Or is this your active twin brother?

@@moviehipster As it indicates in the description, this is from years ago when Bill was starting out in podcasting. He was still a member at the time and, IIRC, trying to figure out how people could reconcile questions and doubts about Mormonism with a desire to continue to be part of the faith community. Obviously, he's moved on from that position and perspective...and being excommunicated for criticizing the leaders probably didn't help him feel any desire to develop that Patrick Masonesque compromise between knowing the ugly truths about Mormonism on one hand and having a compelling desire to stay in the church on good terms with the faith community on the other hand...you know...that "I believe all the good stuff and disbelieve all the bad stuff and give all the leaders some slack cuz nobody's perfect and forgive Jesus for being a bad communicator and it's all true except for the parts that aren't" approach to being an ultra nuanced faithful-ish Mormon that seems to be all the rage these days.

He was questioning at this point, but still had his testimony. He had not been ex'd by the church yet.

@TEAM__POSEID0N so your reposting old stuff, non relevant old stuff, why? For profits? Wasting our time for profits? Gee, Thanks

@@moviehipster I'm not re-posting anything. I was just telling you what it says in the description. I think for anyone familiar with Mormon Discussions it's quite clear that this is an older podcast (with some historical value). I can see how someone with less familiarity can be confused.
