Luke, I've been trying out some Soto gear and I truly am impressed with their stuff. The windmaster is a stove I'll never do with out !!! The top cook set I'm loving also. Nice to see you liking the table which I don't have !! Cheers
@@TheOutdoorGearReview Need a table and want a grill something too? Vargo folding grill. Titanium makes it light, while it folds flat and can be either a grill or a table. Some folks just don't want to put their stuff on dirt. Not a sales pitch. Just a honorable mention that is lighter and does more than one trick.
@@lowkeylowkey1000 Thankyou for mentioning this in your comment. I like this Soto table, but your suggestion of the folding Vargo grill is a huge help as it's definitely a more versatile item in the backpack...
I like your video presentations. No time wasted on lengthy intros and out of topic talk unlike other gear testers. You get down to the point quick and present the facts. Thnx
Saw you use this on another video just this morning and I said then and there I must find this item asap. Just to have something to keep my gas canister and stove off the ground...this is perfect. Thank you so much. Off to Campsaver!!!! lol
The Helinox Table One is the way to go. Real nice! If you have to go real small the Cascade Wild Ultralight Folding Table is good and real inexpensive too.
I've used this little table for 2 years. It's taken a beating and still holds up strong. I pair this also with a small windscreen and small plastic cutting board (from a dollar store) that I cut to match this table. I also have a titanium table that goes into the same bag that weighs just a couple ounces
Soto is a great company and your review is spot on. I bought this about a year ago, great product and can be very useful for car camping or short hikes.
Got mine on Amazon for $45.00 after seeing your video a few weeks back. Very pleased with it and that windscreen hack is genius!!! One of my favorite pieces of kit!!!
I love the one I just bought. Well-built & sized. Like I told someone else recently ... it's about the height of a Smart water bottle laying on it's side & weighs 5 Clif bars.
I have seen a couple of you-tubers with the table and they love it... one keeps it near his bed in his tent and as soon as he gets up he makes his coffee.... thank you for sharing your opinion. Take Care.
I've had this table since last winter, I too like it a lot, very handy keeping things clean and off the ground. I'm not an "ultralight" person so it's weight is of little concern to me, it's not heavy. Always opens and closes flawlessly. I saw it on someone's RU-vid vid in Europe with no attention drawn to it and hunted for it. I too got it for around 40,cant remember where from. Thought it was a bit much till I got it. Glad I did.
I have a couple of Snow Peak Ozen Solo tables and a Kovea mini folding table and they're excellent quality. They all require assembly, which (interestingly) your test Soto does not!
Hello Luke, thank you for the great review. I really appreciate your honest reviews. The Soto table looks like a great item for car camping. All the best to you and Susie. 🤗
Love it. I bought 2 of the accessory tiny people to sit at it. I decided to spring for 2 so they could play cards with each other. Very entertaining at the camp site, especially when they get drunk on sake! They are total lightweights!
Not sure if you reviewed before but there is a similar product in design but made of corrugated plastic. It too folds and then snaps together. Might be worth doing a vs episode. Weight, durability, cost...you know how it’s done, really like those videos you’ve done in the past. Keep up the good work.
OMG...Luke I totally went out and bought this after watching your video...I just got it last week and can't wait to use it in the field....it is awesome.. Have a great day :)
Howdy Luke. I picked up one of these SOTO tables some time back from Camp Saver for $35 with a few other SOTO items. SOTO makes quality stuff for sure. Their OD-1RXN WindMaster stove is killer, the best canister stove I own in terms of performance. I use this table mainly for food prep, but it's handy for lots of reasons. Thanks.
Saw this table in one of your other videos and knew I had to have a couple of them, his and hers. Previously owned the ubiquitous mini camp table made in china rebranded by dozens of companies but wasn't a fan of the sharper edges and the faff of clipping it together. These are silly money to purchase and import to the UK but they make me happy every time i use them.
What an awesome cooking table for hammock camping, brought to us by the masters who brought us oragami. Sometimes the simplest items have the most appreciable amounts of engineering.
I am 77 years old, I need /want comfort. When I canoe camp I use chairs, tents, stoves that require space. I can use the canoe as a table, shelter, etc. but I don’t because I am prepared for the worst (scouting) I even plan for an extra days food and a can of tuna squirrelled away in my pack. I guess I’m more engaged in enjoying the outdoors than stressing out about surviving.
Soto's table is perfect for picnic hikes and car camping. Putting it down next to a folding chair, etc. makes for a sweet set up. I'd put Soto (as brand) into the same category with the Japanese division of Coleman, Snow Peak, etc. Items that are: Non-disposable/made for multiple uses, slightly on the luxury side of camping, appearance and form/function all taken into account.
Thanks, once again you’ve helped me to understand products. This is a great consideration for my snowmobile winter hot tenting. I’ve seen various products that are similar but this seems to stand out. 😊❤️🇺🇸❄️☃️🛷⛺️
Thanks for for the review on the Soto table. I’ve been interested in it ever since the day hike video. It’s perfect for my needs and I’ll definitely be buying one.
Nice Review. Item is similar to the small GSI ultralight table. I’ve had issues with GSI’s spot welding on a pot, as in it didn’t hold and now I have a pot with no handle. So this looks like a winner to me.
Absolutely a luxury item. I might be tempted to get one for the times the wife goes with me...but...I would not pay more than $20 for it. Not worth it for me. But I’m glad to know it’s there for me if I change my mind. Can’t help but notice the gloves and how warm they look...what kind are those?
Hi Luke, great review (as always!) thanks :-) I'm a great fan of Soto stoves (I have the Windmaster and Stormbreaker), but recently had a rather bad experience with their cookware. I think that due to increased worldwide demand, Soto outsourced their pots to China and the quality took a dip. Some kind of chemical in the nylon warmer that came with the pots corroded the anodization. No response from their customer service (in Germany). Another Japanese brand I love is Snow Peak. I got their Ozen Solo table, which does require some light assembly, but packs down a lot thinner and weighs only 9.5 oz (270 g). They also make really nice titanium mugs and camping gear! Keep it up, Luke! I always look forward to your next videos!
Luke, keep up the good work. Nice piece of equipment. Bought a risk, rock cloud table on Amazon. For 20 dollars. Little bigger and heavier than your Soto 16 inches and 1.5 lbs. But Soto looks like it is better quality. If you need a second tent night stand for Suzie you may want to check it out. Thank for all time you spend keeping us informed.
Looks like the perfect table for a day hike, picnic, open air concert, beach day, etc. I found a great table for multi day backpacking trips: Cascade Wild table. Weighs 2.3 oz cost me $10
Hey Luke, I had a little ''mad money'' and decided to order one of these from Campsaver.com. With state taxes & shipping it came to just under $50.00. You're right, a bit of a ''luxury'' item but i'm looking forward to using the hell out of it soon.
My favorite piece of camping gear is the snow peak gigspower white gas lantern. It is discontinued... I got the last one in America. Expensive, but awesome.
Thanks Cool Hand for the review. I’ll have to look into one, it would be a good agh to a permanent Bushcraft camp. Or like you say when the ground is wet and less than optimal
Great review. Like a lot of Japanese products it looks well designed and manufactured. Trying to find a reason why I need one Nice to see you are not influenced by freebies and review your own purchases
What kind of windscreen is that, and where can we get it ? Have you done a review on it ? How long have you had it ? How has it held up ? Keep up the great work !!!
@@user-xt1jd5lw8o, thank you. Not at the moment, because we are going through a resurgence of the CoVid-19 and getting locked down again, I think. Maybe later. Thank you, though.
Great review as always Luke. thanks. For me a little table is not something I would take backpacking, but for day hiking when weight is not an issue, yes. I like Soto stuff, but this is a little pricey for me, so I'm looking for cheaper alternatives. Saw a similar table on Amazon from Trekology for $20 that I am considering ordering.
Really neat design but my only concern is the smooth surface. Metal stove or gas cannisters may slide easily especially while cooking. Would really be handy camping or day hiking.
Like, nice piece of kit. Is there a plastic one available with a lighter weight maybe. I would add this to my kit but the weight and cost is an issue. Thanks great job keep it up
if you use a paper towel to cut on, just get one of those cheap, flexible cutting boards, and cut it down to a handy size. your knives will thank you! (cardboard is fine too though, and doubles as a fire starter) it's cheap, very light, and can also be used as a wind screen or fire fan.
Check out the Suluk46 titanium camp table. It's similiar to this, but lighter.I'm not affiliated with the company I just like their stuff. They also make other products including a titanium wood stove that is similiar to the Bush buddy or solo but much lighter as expected.Keep the reviews coming, thanks
I really like those, the weight is where it becomes a pain for me, literally. If I'm staying somewhere that I know there will be some wood to use I'll knock up one my own and as much as I like my metal windshield it weighs a tonne. I just attached some clips to a cut off from my ground sheet, shove some sticks in the ground, clip it on and it's good to go, weighs nothing too.
I saw this and looked useful in previous videos and so went looking in AliExpress. I could not find the exact same one but they have a similar one but with manual legs that only costs about $14 delivered, which I decided was cheap enough to take chance on! Also these ones have one extra feature you can lock two together to make a bigger table, so in fact I order two. I haven't got them yet but looking forward to trying it. The only con I saw so far seems to be a lack of a bag. I like the windbreak storage idea - also prevents it from damage as it's easy to bend them if you aren't careful.
@@carmenmartinez2882 Yeah that sure is useful if you don't have one. But I already had it before the table, and I use the stove on the table as it's more stable than directly on the ground - so then the windbreak is handy to keep. BUT your method is great for using a stick stove I'm never going to have that on the table!!
It's not about need, it's about want. Do you want the comfort of a camp table. Or....do you want to continue to try to get by with as little as possible when you hike/backpack? I take a camp chair because I deserve to be comfortable at the end of the day. I also actually "cook" real food instead of "boiling water to soften dried food in a bag and call that 'cooking'"!
Love the looks of this. Two Q's: How does it do with heat? E.g., would a Firebox stove work on this? (Guessing so...doesn't look like any plastic parts). And how "slippery" is the aluminum top? (Have you found that to be any problem?). As always thanks for the great reviews!
Looks great, but yeah, twice the price it should be. You should review competitors tables. I think this is ideal for me as a ground based table when car camping, ss t HGe ground is always dirty and uneven.
This little stand looks great but the price is a sticking point for me. I found a cheaper option from Naturehike (Simple folding table) and although you don't have the flashy popup nature of those legs once you've attached the legs it's doing the same job for about £16/$15. Give it a Google and have a look, I really like mine and it's blue which makes absolutely no difference but looks nice.
