Tina is one amongst a small but growing group of exceptionally talented young female guitarists . . . and not a gurned, guitar-face amongst them! Amazing talent, feel and tone. That is SO unusual for a shredder.
@@hannuhedman5882 There is a cluster of amazing, young female guitarists who post on RU-vid. A VERY versatile example is Gretchen Menn who is stunning both on acoustic and electric - she also roams across folk, ballad, blues, shred and just about every other style inbetween. There isn't really a typical example I could recommend, but this upload includes both slow melodic and fierce soloing. Check out her channel to see the range. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-INa81rNzLyc.html&ab_channel=GretchenMenn
Seriously, who thumbs this down? I'm seriously fascinated by the depths of envy and/or inadequacy that would prompt someone to dislike a nearly flawless rendition of an extremely difficult track. 6 thumbs up!
@@ayybudayy i agree with the vibrato and the feel but the girl is playing so many many different artists music that it can be difficult to capture the exact feel of someone elses performance and that she is playing a very difficult piece to begin with. But i absolutely understand what you saying and I know that its not a insult or a negative comment in reference to her playing at all. however other people may sense it to be a negative comment but its not. What your saying that is lacking at least in this performance is correct and its not due to her lack of ability to do that its just a finesse thing that a person only gets whenever they continue to play for years years years etc. A person becomes polished and then the finesse sets in once they have developed their own style and its hard to say when that happens for each person bcuz some gain it quickly and others varie. Just depends really. But shes phenominal and hell i can look past all the hair splittin stuff bcuz that piece is out of my capability myself so i feel u on that one.
@@rickyhenager7047 this isn't the fuckin blues. she was covering HIS piece and was pretty good at hitting HIS vibratos. So many trash guitarists who are restricted to the pentatonic always blab on about "feel," gtfo.
Me too, but after making weekly videos for years, I doubt Tina feels any need to "come back" to making RU-vid videos (her Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata being her "graduation" exercise). I'm sure whatever she chooses as a life-long pursuit - someone said she's been pursuing a law degree in France - she will continue to be outstanding.
@@brianswelding You mean posting RU-vid videos ISN'T the ultimate life goal of the Jedi?? But only those with pure hearts and pristine souls come to RU-vid(& Tik Tok, Facebook, etc), to learn wholesome life lessons and to reach full enlightenment...... So why wouldn't the Jedi spend every moment of every day on these wonderful platforms!? 😖😉
This incredible masterpiece was composed by a school kid of Tina's age in this video all the way back in 1980s. When Jason got a chance to record it a year later in the studio after he was done composing, he played guitars (there are 2 guitars in places for harmony here and 'Air' has 3 guitars in places for counterpoint), bass, and keyboards all by himself and Atma Anur played the drums. He didn't just record this piece this way, he recorded entire 'Perpetual Burn' (1988) album that to this day remains a shred bible. Jason got diagnosed with a fast-progressing debilitating disease (ALS - think Stephen Hawking) only a couple years later at the age of 20 and was given only 3-5 years to live and hasn't played guitar at all since age 21. Today Jason remains the longest ALS survivor with over 30 years with this disease, a record held previously by Stephen Hawking who passed several years ago. Jason still composes amazing music but being unable to move anything but his eyes it's difficult to get the music out of his head. Never the less he still released highly acclaimed 'Triumphant Hearts' album in 2018. You should check it out as well as 'Perspective' album (1996) and of course 'Perpetual Burn' album. Jason is more than just a shredder, he's an incredible music composer that spans almost every genre of music from classical orchestration to pop to rock/metal, even some jazzy and choral works. My personal favorite arrangemement and orchestration of his is 'Life and Death' from his 'Perspective' album, everyone should go hear it just to get an idea what kind of musical mind he is. He composed this whole thing note by note while paralyzed and orchestrated it on MIDI. One day just like his 'Air' masterpiece, 'Life and Death' and others will be also covered by orchestra.
Tina I don't know if you ever read these comments but just in case here goes. I have heard all the different stories and rumors about where you disappeared to. Doesn't matter. Here's what does. You have clearly established yourself as one of the absolute best guitarists on the planet. That is regardless of gender or age. You're one of the best...period. 2020 has been a god awful year. We've lost Neal Peart, Eddie Van Halen, and Sean Connery. There's been a horrible pandemic. Here in America there's been unrest, a racial divide and a serious lack of humanity. In times like this music is at the least a great distraction and at it's best can be a healing balm. Music can soothe the soul and heal the heart. As one of music's most gifted ambassadors I ask you to please consider returning to share your gift with us once again. We'd also love to hear you speak. No one can tell your story as well as you can. You lived it after all. You have fans that appreciate and admire your talent and will support you. Thank you for sharing your gift with us and heres hoping we see you again soon.
@damian ponce not sure you understand how music works. At one point or another pretty much everybody's plays someone else's composition. Still takes alot of talent. Also if you watch more than just this video you will see how she adapts these songs. Example Herman Lee of Dragon Force explained how she adapted Through the Flames, that uses 2 guitars playing different parts on the solo, for a single player. That takes talent. Never understood why anybody would feel the need to knock someone else's ability.
Stephen Davies It isn't so, she isn't very clean, if you slow down the video for example in the sweeping part you can't distinguished every notes, it's quite confused
this is good cover, she is very good. but try and check Altitudes cover by Ayu Gusfanz because in my opinion this cover way way better and more powerful that the original itself. i found that cover several week ago
+Zidders Roofurry That's right but things go harder and harder. Right now, I only can play Buckethead's or Paul Gilbert's songs. Need mooooooore practice to Jason Becker.
Alejandro Vargas Buckethead and Paul Gilbert is pretty impressive. I've been playing over 30 years and I have trouble remembering how to play Maidens 'Stranger in a Strange Land' all the way through lol
Alejandro Vargas Nah I'm just too lazy. That and it's been shown that as you get older it gets harder to absorb new information. That's why it's best to start this stuff when you're younger. Not saying someone older can't become technically adept. It's just more of a challenge.
Jason becker is the only artists i have seen her cover where it's clear she is trying...the rest are so effortless for her. That says lots about both becker and this girls insane level of talent/hard work
This piece is insanely hard to play, not only for speed in the sweeping parts but also for the ridiculous legato and all the nuances Becker adds into his playing. The man was truly the greatest there ever was
+WeWantYouToStay You should see Gus Drax version of Altitudes on RU-vid, talk about excellent, Gus cover is awesome, check it out and you will be a Gus Drax fan!
James McClellan Loomis' tone is atrocious and his cover is no more than by-the-numbers... I don't know what could possess you to enjoy the man's playing over Becker's, he's fast but insanely dull
Jason Becker was a freak of guitar knowledge. Those who can grasp it are part of the downloading of the universe. How can anyone be so gifted as to understand music at such a young age? It has to be downloaded into you at the moment of birth which blows away all ideas of talent because it must be some other force that we cannot comprehend. I have played guitar for over 40 yrs and have tried to play Jason`s stuff but it comes so hard for me yet some youngster can just lay it out with ease? I can play some of it, but it is tough. These children are born and can just wail on it so easily? The universe has to be a computer program for this to happen.
Mozart already challenged any learning theories in his time. I have explanations which satisfy me, but the fact is not all humans are born equal. Anybody can increase their potential, but not everybody can reach the same heights. Self-made people are a myth; but effort and improvement are realities. I've been trying to play Air myself for the past 25 years... not there yet, might never be. XD
Hahaha, right?? What kinda salty sociopath would 'dislike' Tina?? Let alone a tiny legion of em. 🤔 I'm wondering if I should be even more worried for society than I was 5 minutes ago, when I was worried about society.
Jason Becker is a true legend, seeing her fingers move across the guitar to put this masterpiece together is just so beautiful in so many ways, being able to see what it takes to put together one of his songs, definitely not for any beginner!
95% of listeners here won't go and look up the original artist let alone give a spin to their discography. Most people listen with their eyes today, and it's unfortunate because Jason Becker deserves way more recognition than he gets as a composer as well as a player.
@@fyessssss I mean it's a fine interpretation and I got nothing against Tina or anyone giving it a shot and having courage to share it for that matter. I just feel like people today don't really care about composition aspect of the craft, just want an eye candy to look at. So you have videos of someone reacting to a piece with more views than the original. Composition aspect gets grossly underrated.
logiotek yeah I agree also now that I come to think of it it’s the same with movies because everyone talks about the director of the movie instead of the actual writer...
@Jean-Paul Teitu II Good on you. Make sure you hear all of his compositions from 'Perpetual Burn' (1988), 'Perspective' (1996), and 'Triumphant Hearts' (2018) albums. They are varied and masterful. Also check this amazing and powerful (especially the ending) tribute orchestral 'Air' cover ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vt4YHlSbuk0.html and my personal favorite orchestration of his is 'Life and Death' that was painstakingly created note by note on a computer synthesizer when Jason was already paralyzed ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FUS-sJMDiso.html I can only dream to hear it actually played live one day by actual orchestra like that 'Air' cover
+sebastian castaño Maybe when shes 46 and not 16 she will have erased Jason Becker's name from history.... she rocks something it took him 46 years to accomplish...open your eyes
Hi, I am writing because about a year ago my hearing was damaged an I have had tinnitus ever since. I want to save people from this because it is hell, the worst thing I have ever had. Please look after your hearing, damage seriously can't be undone. Use ear plugs or limit the time of exposure. Respect your ears! Warn others, and please take care. :(
+speedgamer01 My mother got tinnitus around five years ago and since then I've been using ear plugs whenever I go to a show (it doesn't matter if I play on that show or not) or rehearsals or pretty much anywhere I know it's going to be noisy and I don't know if it is some sort of placebo effect but I believe my hearing has gotten a little better since then.
One of my two favorites,Tina is sometimes reviewed as having no emotions while she’s playing, but I see just the opposite. Tina isn’t playing for entertainment, she’s playing for herself and that speaks volumes.
Out of 883277 notes you got 7 wrong. I have good news though you are still a genius. I believe you are the most gifted and talented young lady I've ever seen and heard, and you are most certainly in the top tear of guitarists in the world. There is a very high probability that in the next 2 or 3 years you could be crowned guitar queen of the earth by the great council of the guitar gods. Just remember some of the simpler compositions when played with love, passion, heart and soul are enjoyed and appreciated as much as the more complicated ones. Many blessings to you always. (Sorry I can't speak French)
I've giged for 30 years, and I'm telling anybody....this girl is better than Eddie Van Halen. He can't slide the neck and find frets like she does. She is technically as good as anybody. She's at the level where we see what she has in her heart that she can project through the instrument. She's well beyond the proficiency aspect pf playing.
+Pete Zereeah "She is technically as good as anybody." She is phenomenally good and deserves the attention she gets, but there are vast multitudes of guitar players that can play things that she can't even come close to playing.
Her technique is indeed amazing, but I wouldn't say she's better than van Halen. As far as I know this girl hasn't written any music and doesn't really improvise. With a lot of practice anyone can cover a song, but it takes real skill to write one.
To the 471 thumbs down. Jason Becker gave his thumbs up told her she did a nice job. You guys only think that you are great. I bet she could smoke every one of you.. My opinion, if you don't like her playing just go somewhere else. She is amazing, so very talented and now considered to be one of the best in the world. Lets see your credentials. Awesome Tina and you just get better and better. I bow to you. You are amazing.
This was beautiful and talented. I am a fan of Jason Becker. This tune is very familiar to me. I have been dreaming a lot in listening to this song and the whole album. Tina performed it amazingly. I got back to the old days when i listened heavy metal and talented guitar players.
Lovely playing. I've never been able to approach this speed and dexterity. Love videos like this because they put my ego into place. Amazing stuff, and not "just for her age" Amazing, period!
damn this jason, i just read about him in wikipedia he learned to play guitar by ear! and now he cant even move his arms, he was a true talented guitarist
FullMetal he's making a new album with all stuff written by him!! He will always keep composing... just keep updates on him. It's amazing and beautiful
I tried to be a pro guitar player for years and I listen to the best. Up until now I thought EVH was the most gifted. She is beyond human. I believe she is the most gifted guitar player of all time.
Cut her some slack on the imperfections of this cover. Shes only 16 and shes extremely good for her age. I know how hard Jason's music is to play on guitar so the fact she even attempted it is amazing. Great playing Tina!
The honest part that makes her covers stand out is how she doesn’t shy away from picking legato . Simply stated, at that speed picking legato is practically rendered as a feat surmounted by few. And to have them be discernable is mind boggling. I raise my figurative glass to you, and heck, I might give this one a go
I've been coming back a bunch of her music over the years. It's been a good while since she posted anything and I get that stuff changes quickly when your young. But regardless where you are, what your doing I hope your well and enjoying life.
I love that she finds time to push her hair back behind her ear. Mesmerising. Fusion of the conscious and unconscious. it’s like she’s listening more than playing, or it’s pure mind
She is a prodigy and this shouldn't be ignored. My wife is a piano teacher and you wouldn't believe how musically under educated kids are these days. Their music "appreciation" is directed towards the most disgusting music I've ever heard in my 35 years. We need more of this girl and students who aspire to be at least half this good.
Well said. Btw Jason was her age 16-17 when he composed this and half a dozen other masterpieces like his 'Air' m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vt4YHlSbuk0.html
I wonder how long it'll take for the next renaissance? Sculptures literally took over a thousand years the recover the skills of ancient Greeks. Admittedly, the amount of knowledge out there now has produced many more guitar 'virtuosos than in the 1960s, as evident with hundreds of RU-vid of young people shredding in their bedrooms. However, I think you're right in suggesting most of Western civilization is currently decadent (which, ironically, seems to be championed as a sign of being 'progressive').
INCRÍVEL !!! Sua habilidade na guitarra é realmente sensacional. Espero que esteja bem e que continue nos presenteando com seus vídeos maravilhosos. Que o Criador nosso Pai lhe abençoe sempre !!
Becker is such an inspiration. Marty Friedman got me into guitar, but the second I found out about his friend Becker I was in awe. In my opinion, best guitarist of all time and it’s amazing to hear a bit of Marty in his music. For those curious for more Becker music, check out his song Perpetual Burn. Jeff loomis covered it and it’s incredible. His new work is also great which he still composes despite the ALS.
Я из России, иду покупать шляпу чтобы снять ее перед ней!Сама мимика лица выражает одно целое музыканта, гитары и музыки. Сама гитара просто бомба! Всех благ вам, счастья, здоровья и всего самого наилучшего друзья!
Are you fucking with me? I've been playing for 2,5 years and I can play this song very easily and am only 16 years old. It is all about the love and bunch of tries.
I've been playing for like 2 and a half years and I can play this. Then again I've been practicing every day for 2 and a half years and as for the dislikes... I don't know why.
God bless Tina S. and all of the talent she works with. They brought this old cancer recovery rocker back to life. GOD I LOVE THEM ! ! Thank You. Go forward TINA !
My God! That's better than her Through the Fire and Flames and I didn't think that was possible! I can't EVER get tired of watching this girl play. 16 years old isn't even funny. She must have practiced 22 hours a day for 15 years! I'd love to see her play with some of the greats sometime. Do something with Clapton, or Yngwie. I can't applaud her enough. Keep up the awesome playing!
+Alex Rousso She must have attacked that guitar with a dedication to be the best! It is SOOOOO fun to watch her play! my mouth hangs open the whole time! :)
+K-Pop Pat Only real issue is she is several decades too late to become a critical success using this style of playing. Instrumental rock guitar is a very very very tiny niche that only a few in the past several decades have been able to make a full time career out of and become famous.
+Ken Havens I think her niche will be, and in many respects already is, to perfect a complicated piece and present that talent to a strong following. Over 300k followers, over 1mill. views on this video alone propel her into that rare air of awesome talent, only now it's the digital age whereas in the 80's you weren't going to be posting to RU-vid. If playing this seriously at 16 is something she enjoys then what will her exposure be at 26? I know I'll still be following her then!! Prodigy is an apt term for her talent.
It isn't just her technical ability to play this piece but the maturity, conviction, and emotional gift she displays in the interpretation of such masterpiece.
I was in Glasgow today and walked past a little scallywag about 19 yrs old strumming a guitar badly. He had an adoring audience of about 15 girls listening to every pained chord he played. This girl has most of the youtube guitar community listening to her every note and she's only 16. Incredible talent
Any young lady that knows Jason Becker and can play his compositions is amazing, he was the greatest guitarist ever until ALS left him paralyzed. He still somehow composes music, he is still a genius. Pray for Jason Becker and his family...
Jason Honor Hate in a video that has nothing to do with race “yes I see the previous comment someone made.” But wow I don’t know where you got those statistics but I’m going to need you to do more research. By the way just because multiple people of the same ethnic background commit a crime or statute does not dictate the ethnic group as a whole. That’s just like me saying “all whites are racist, your people committed a crime for over 200 years, and you’re the blame for why the way we act.” But guess what I will not tolerate that kind of hatred and are not liable to everyone else’s unruliness. You shouldn’t just walk up to someone and by their skin colour say they they’re someone who commits crimes. But you’ll get a taste of what you hate, it’ll be someone who looks just like you who betrays you.
@Jason Honor Lol no one is preaching to you and that is your opinion not facts, people with your mindset are a complete and utter failure. Multiculturalism isn't a failure only people who are racist think its a failure because indeed you do pass judgement before and after as you had stated, the statistics show that it is true which is a lie. Then you go on to say you don't want anything to do with them, it shows. Don't come with contradictory opinions. First step is admitting and you need to admit you are indeed racist and prejudice. But you know what being segregated from people like you wouldn't be much of a problem.
I don't know how many times I probably commented on on Tina but everything she does is brilliant as we know that it's God I don't know what you guys think about the universal mind but that's him just showing off in our human form this kind of what he did with Jesus
I can't find adjectives powerful enough to describe her TALENT 💥💥💥 It's simply OUT OF THIS WORLD 😍😍😍🤟🤟🤟👏👏 The guitar seems to be an extension of her arms!
To see dislikes on an amazing performance like this one is unbelievable, disgraceful and sad. The most emotional and close to the original version of this song that I personally have ever heard. Even Jason himself congratulated her. It tells it all! This version of Altitudes always brings tears to my eyes because of the heavenly underlying melody and Tina's ability in executing these crazy solos effortlessly, but also thinking about how inexplicably cruel life has been with that genius called Jason, who was still a teen like Tina when composing this masterpiece. I was a teen myself back then in 1989, playing drums in metal bands, and totally blown away one day by discovering Cacophony's "Go off" and listening to "Images" a hundreds times. Hope to hear you back Tina S, one day soon 🙏🙏🙏 And so much love&light to Jason for whatever he did and still does, being an inspiration to so many!
Although that's still a smashing cover and I personally would never be able to play that in my life, Gus Drax's cover is better, with more passion, more precision and a better technique. And yet hes has way less views. Perhaps some people are annoyed of that, and to show that, they click dislike. There is no reason to compare, and even less a reason to click dislike, but you can't change people's logic and mind, not to click dislike just because of reasons, nor to rather watch this than Gus Drax's cover which is probably the best cover of a guitar piece on RU-vid, at least what I've whitnessed so far
@@dontmindme6995 In my opinion, some people who are commenting and liking/disliking around YT are fundamentally unsatisfied folks, unkind and too focused on themselves to appreciate greatness when they witness it. Even if Gus Drax's version is phenomenal beyond belief, Tina's interpretation would still be worth of great respect, especially from people who will never be able to achieve a fraction of the ability she displayed. And I am not talking about number of followers here... In any case, of course, anybody is entitled to their opinion, as disappointing and disrespectful that can be.
@@jefferytullis6079 I don't think she is dead. A relative of her posted somewhere saying that she was busy with university... I hope that's the case... Do you know something different?
@@Stargate2Heaven well, it was a RU-vid video documenting her guitar prowess. I am going to scan RU-vid later for that video. I distinctly recall them posting such words as "she will be missed."In memory of Tina S". At the time, I recall also seeing a lot of comments on how tragic it was for her life to have been cut short with such a bright future ahead. I hope that I am wrong and would actually contribute to any cause regarding the post as fake news. Unfortunately the video was convincing at least to the point that someone did a lot of work to post that

I spent hours listening to Guitar Masters tapes when I was 14. There was this tune which I know most of the notes. She's missing none of them ! Enormissime !
🎸 Words are insufficient to describe the skill level required to replicate this as well as she did. It’s always a pleasure to hear and watch her play. Hoping all is well with Tina S wherever she may be.
This young girl, Tina S. unbelievable, listening to what she is doing on the guitar and watching her do it has got to be the most spectacular thing I have ever seen anybody do with a damn guitar and I've been playing and studing guitar for 50 years, how can a girl this young possibly be this advanced in the short time that she has even been alive, it does not even seem possible
Enquanto para os outros a guitarra é um instrumento de estudo e as vezes de muitos dasafios , para a Tina me parece mais um brinquedo que ela ama e conhece como ninguem
Thank you for sharing your talent with us mortals. Probably the 100th + time I've watched one of your vids. It helps take my mind off of other problems in life and just enjoy the moment. Seriously, thank you for this.
lol I play as well and I have almost the same size hands and have always been complimented on my playing. As far as hand size goes I got little Asian hands but I always maintained I could do what the long finger guys do so I never gave up. lol
@Jean-Paul Teitu II "Just" a bunch of video clips strung together? i am having a good laugh at this If you had made a good point I'd have loved to discuss But you come out as a noob having no idea how good Gus is. Nothing to take away from tina, what she's playing at that age is beyond what some good guitarists will ever achieve. But can't compare her to Gus, he's a few notches higher.
@Jean-Paul Teitu II well I cant see the shit because you are in front of me And your head is the thing that is full shit So laugh at yourself you shithead
